𝕄𝕒𝕟𝕪 𝕞𝕠𝕠𝕟𝕤 𝕒𝕘𝕠...

❦‣ I n the beginning, there were four. Four Clans ruled the lake: ThunderClan, ShadowClan, RiverClan, and WindClan. Each Clan was given its own territory and guarded their borders fiercely. Each Clan followed the Warrior Code and lived under StarClan's guide. Everything changed when Gravelstorm was chosen by StarClan. The medicine cat of RiverClan had just lost their apprentice - and, to the medicine cat, a sign had been given that Gravelstorm would assume that position. Gravelstorm had no desire to abandon his warrior life. He even had a pregnant mate - Blossomfeather. RiverClan was furious. How could this tom dare stand against their warrior ancestors? "StarClan is wrong," the stone-gray tom insisted to their horrors. The Clan made it clear he would follow their way of life and StarClan's plan for him, or he would be no longer welcome.
❦‣ A n d so, Gravelstorm went. He, his mate, and his brother Murkyclaw set out in the middle of the night and traveled far from the Clans. Cats joined with them along the way, and by the time they arrived, they were calling themselves GravelClan. By now, the Clan had settled in a little mountain-surrounded hollow. A Twolegplace sat on the edge, and a dam kept leagues of water from flooding their home. GravelClan had no healer - and when sickness came, Gravelstorm realized his error. Healing was a valuable skill that his hatred for the role had caused him to take for granted. While sickness took many lives, Gravelstorm was praying to StarClan for an answer. Gravelstorm's prayers were answered, and his dreams guided him to a well. No one suspected StarClan would thrive in a Twoleg-made place, but as Gravelstorm followed a tunnel under the well, he came to a brilliantly glowing pool. There, he met StarClan, and was told who would be given the knowledge to guide them. An apprentice with rudimentary herb knowledge would be trained through dreams by StarClan's own fallen medicine cats. Gravelstorm was cursed for turning his back on the Code and RiverClan, though - he would never be allowed to hold the nine lives of leader, nor have the name -star respected.
❦‣ W h e n Gravelstorm took this news back to the Clan, many were unhappy - especially the former Clan cats who had left their home for a new way of life. Gravelstorm insisted that it was in the Clan's best interest, but the cats who were unsettled could not be appeased. They refused to respect a leader who couldn't even take his lives. Jealous, Murkyclaw was the most angry of the Clan cats. He broke off from his brother's group, splitting the cats in two. MurkyClan rose alongside GravelClan - this time, with a leader who was rewarded nine lives by StarClan and given the name -star. Murkystar's Clan grew cold and untrusting, while Gravelstorm was accepting of any cat who needed a home. This went on for moons, and the two Clans even developed a spot to have Gatherings. Gravelstorm was growing old, though, and had finally come to the point of choosing his successor.
❦‣ T h e dam broke, and chaos filled the forest. Many cats drowned and over half of the territory was lost. Gravelstorm died in the flood, a succesor never chosen, and for many moons, GravelClan was scrambled. Recently, a band of rogues sided with the Clan cats. Gravelstorm never chose a succesor, so StarClan provided one, and GravelClan's curse finally ended. Not in time, though - territory is still hard to come by, and a constant war rages. Territory disputes happen often, the only time of peace the Clans face is now on the full moon. Every warrior lives with the mud and grit of battle running through their veins - peace will not come easily to the mountain hollow.

𝕄𝕦𝕣𝕜𝕪ℂ𝕝𝕒𝕟'𝕤 𝕋𝕖𝕣𝕣𝕚𝕥𝕠𝕣𝕪

❦‣ MurkyClan's territory is much fuller than GravelClan's. Their side of the forest is closer to the mountain slope, so the air is cooler on this side of the forest. Cats spend their days hunting and patrolling a pine forest. The battle training ground is a flower-filled forest hollow. Their main source of water is the stream that runs through their territory from the mountain's side, providing the Clan with crisp, fresh water and plenty of large fish. It's farthest from the old Twolegplace, so intruders are far less likely and treated with much hostility.
❦‣ The camp is located at the mountain's base. A tree jutting from the base, with the roots forming a cave, makes up the leader's den, and the branches serve as a seat for announcement to the Clan. A tree turned on its side make up the nursery and medicine cat's den, the queens residing inside of the hollow log and the medicine den dug into the roots. Warriors and apprentices both have small caves in the mountain's side, and the elder's den is dug into the base of a flowering bush. The camp is surrounded by a tight throng of rocks and trees, the only way in is by passing under a fallen tree between two rocks. As a result, the camp is harder to find, and the only danger they really face inside of it is birds of prey coming down from the mountains. Kit and apprentices are usually discouraged from playing near the mountain without warriors present.

𝔾𝕣𝕒𝕧𝕖𝕝ℂ𝕝𝕒𝕟'𝕤 𝕋𝕖𝕣𝕣𝕚𝕥𝕠𝕣𝕪

❦‣ GravelClan's territory is marginally smaller than MurkyClan's. Away from the mountains, their territory is entirely forest with a mix of trees. Where the pines distinctly end you can find the scent markings making up the border between the Clans. The stream that runs through the territory circles their camp, which is on a sort of stream-made island. The main training camp is nearer the old Twolegplace, which marks another border of theirs. Intruders and kittypets used to be common, but the flood essentially destroyed Twolegplace, leaving only aggressive rogues to roam its ruins.
❦‣ GravelClan's camp is on the little stream island. The warriors' den, apprentices' den, and nursery are all dug into the bases of bushes. THe medicine cat's den is a small rocky cave that houses a small pool of drinking water, as the stream flows over the den and has a small runoff into it. During rainy seasons the pool does not flood, which the cats consider a blessing from StarClan for the den's sacred duties. The leader's den is the only one above ground. A half tree stands in the center of the camp, the fresh-kill pile below it. A hollow in this tree near the top serves as the leader's den and the leader speaks from the branches.

❦‣ You may make as many characters as you wish, but there are some stipulations to what you can create, which are covered in the following rules.

❦‣ You will only be able to create characters of open ranks, the exception being queens that are already pregnant before kits close. I will be maintaining a cap on warriors, apprentices, queens, and kits, so that the Clan does not become overcrowded or uneven. It will be listed under the allegiances if a rank is closed.

❦‣ You may only have one high rank (leader, deputy, medicine cat, medicine cat apprentice) at a time, unless your character is chosen as deputy for the sake of the roleplay's sincerity. If your character is chosen for a role despite you already having a high rank (for example: if you play the medicine cat, but the deputy dies and your character makes the most sense to be chosen for the position based on their relationship to the leader and the Clan), you do not have to demote/kill off/etc. the high rank you already have.

❦‣ Please keep genders even! If you only have one character, that's fine; but if you create another character, it should be the opposite gender. This rule was implemented as the roleplays typically have a lot more females than males. For example: if you create a she-cat and would like to make another cat, it must be male.

❦‣ Be realistic with your character's names and appearances, their actions, and the way you type in this roleplay.

❦‣ You do not have to use the form below, feel free to use your own. It MUST include: name, appearance/character image, rank, gender, and age. Feel free to include more information, I'd love to read your characters' backstories and personalities as well!

❦‣ At this time, you may only have ONE outsider character. Characters from GravelClan may have outsider roots; characters from MurkyClan should all be Clanborn.

❦‣ Respect the Clans' special traits: GravelClan is outsider-friendly and hostile to their rival Clan. MurkyClan is also hostile, but not accepting of outsiders. Keep in mind each Clan's terrain and camp.

❦‣ No powerplaying here, please. Your character may not always be the center of attention or chosen to take part in major plot points - it happens! There's always next time, let somebody else's character be the focus for a bit. Your time will come, I promise!

❦‣ Fade to black for kitting/mating scenes.

❦‣ Remember CS' rules! If a CS rule is broken, it's possible that a moderator will issue a warning to you, which I know we all don't want to happen! Following the site rules will help us keep the roleplay unlocked and going strong.

❦‣ As is customary in the series, your characters' mentor/apprentice/warrior name/full medicine cat name will be decided BY our roleplay's leader and medicine cats. You may request a specific choice, but ultimately it is in the paws of the Clan leaders and medicine cats.
