elmpaw was rather easily known for snoozing in on days like this. his thick tabbby fur was good at keeping him warm and thus making it harder and harder for him to wake when it was cold out. the former kittypet had a lot to learn though he welcomed just about everything with open paws. finally he stirred in his sleep and yawned, lids revealing his large amber eyes that looked around sleep clouded. he pushed himself up to his paws with a groan and padded out of the den, moss from his nest clinging to his pelt for a moment. glancing towards the fresh kill pile, he moved towards it and grabbed a sparrow before he moved to the nursery, wondering if brackenfoot and her kits were awake or not. peaking inside, he noticed the molly was awake.

when he noticed that she was, he moved inside and dropped the sparrow not far from her, knowing that she would be thankful though her kits were already old enough to leave the nursery and such. he was quiet at first and offered her a smile before he finally spoke up, though his voice was soft. "mornin' brackenfoot. i hope that you slept well on such as cold day like today. how is everything?" he questioned her curiously. the young feline didn't question much of others except the normal stuff, he was not one to want to know anyone's personal buisness or question them of their choices unless it affected him drastically.

"Ruminating in your thoughts again, hmm?" Copperfang said, settling down beside Fraystar. Her words were hard, but there was a definite teasing note to them. "Much more'a that and you'll turn into a vegetable." She laid her thick tail over her paws to warm them from the snow and turned her gaze towards the leader. She still wasn't sure what to think about willingly following another cat and being expected to follow orders blindly. There would always be some part of her, she reasoned, that was a loner -- perfectly content to shirk her 'clanly duties' and care only for herself.

But for now, clan life was actually being beneficial to her. She wasn't going hungry per se -- though there were some nights she could be a little fuller. And there was always a nest waiting for her; she didn't have to scrap together a new place to sleep every night. So far, Fraystar's little clan was delivering what the tom had promised. Copperfang supposed only time would tell from then on out.

With a twitch of her whiskers, she raised her gaze to the sky. A small inkling of worry gnawed at her pelt like a pesky flea. She wasn't used to worrying about anyone but herself, but lo and behold, the clan was growing on her. "If leafbare drags on much longer, I fear my tail might fall off." Copperfang huffed a cloudy exhale as the biting breeze swept through again. " 'Specially if this wind keeps up..."

Stars above, she sounded like a grouchy old cat.

Pepperpaw grumbled and rolled over as Elmpaw awoke and left the den. He had been pressed against the older tom, and in the absence of his thick coat, the biting cold became apparent. He stayed in his wallowed-out nest for a few more heartbeats before finally rousing himself. He took a few moments to pick scraps of moss out of his fur, though he was sure a few more sprigs were still stuck in there somewhere. Once he poked his nose outside the den, he almost turned right around and curled up again. Almost. Snow was layered thick on the ground, and the whistling wind ruffled his ears. In short, the weather was absolutely dismal.

Still, he thought as he stuck a paw into the cold wet slush with a grimace, things had to be done. As much as he wanted to, he couldn't lay around all day. He looked around for Puffinheart but couldn't see his mentor anywhere. Maybe she was still blissfully asleep, or maybe out on some patrol and hadn't bothered to wake him. Whatever the reason, Pepperpaw trudged free of the apprentices' den's grasp and settled himself in one of the less snowy corners of the camp. He tried to settle his expression into less of a mopey frown and more of a nonchalant smile. He got stuck halfway as the breeze blew through again, his face twisting as though he had just lapped up some curdled milk.

Giving up on correcting his expression, Pepperpaw tucked his paws close to his chest and fluffed his fur in a desperate attempt to stay warm. Hopefully Puffinheart would appear soon, and he could warm up with some training. He wasn't an avid fan of getting bruises day in and day out, but at least it was better than becoming a cat-cicle.

โ€ - ROSEDUST

| Medicine Cat | Molly | 27 Moons | Med. Den | Tags: Open |Mentions: Pigeonpaw
_______________________________________________

A chill nipped at the walls of the den, the sounds that filled the inside were that of a whistle of air and the scratching of flora that resides outside of the den. Rosedustโ€™s eyes blinked open without hesitation and she let her vision clear from what sleep was left. Rosedust lifted her head, giving a quick glance to make sure all was in order and nothing catastrophic had occurred during the night. All signs were calm at the moment, and doom did not lurk around the corner.

Rosedust stood, shaking her short pelt to rid of any excess bedding. Carefully, the lynx point stepped around the nest that Pigeonpaw now owned. Rosedust sat infront of Frayclanโ€™s inventory of herbs and did a quick mental check. Herbs were limited during leaf-bare, and a mental count of what was on hand was essential. Rosedust stood up and her eyes were drawn back to her nest. Tucked away in the moss was a pale pink collar that donned a small golden bell, it chimed only when Rosedust rolled around aggressively in her nest. The Molly couldnโ€™t bring herself to get rid of it, but oh how she loathed it. Rosedust pulled her eyes away and picked up a portion of parsley, padding towards the entrance of her den.

As she stepped out of the entrance, a chilly gust of wind hit Rosedust. Flattening her ears to head and closing her eyes she stepped forward and braved the chill. After some pawsteps, she paused to see who was up and about.

โ– - MAPLESTEP

| Warrior | Molly | 38 Moons | Camp Clearing | Tags: Phantompaw |Mentions:
_______________________________________________

The crunching sound of footsteps were the only noises that rang in Maplestepโ€™s ears as she padded along the trail back to camp. It had been a solid three, maybe four moons since Maplestep joined Frayclan in a rather embarrassing manner, but she put the situation behind her and accepted that her new clan was here to help her, wether she liked it or not. Maplestep watched her paws as she stepped lightly back to camp after completing a dawn patrol. Maplestep wondered wether or not Phantompaw was awake yet. The calico would never admit just how much she adored her apprentice, but her actions spoke differently.

Maplestep broke through the entrance of the camp, and within seconds she saw a blur of white and black racing up to her. โ€œMaplestep, can we go out?โ€ Came the overly excited voice of her apprentice, Phantompaw. The Calico flinched and lifted a paw, taking a step backwards in hopes she didnโ€™t get barreled over. After a moment, Maplestepโ€™s paw was placed back on the ground. The molly narrowed her eyes at her apprentice and held her gaze without speaking. As a couple seconds ticked by she finally spoke, โ€œI suppose.โ€ Maplestep sighed, breaking eye contact and looking at the whole of the camp for a moment to make sure things were alright. Maplestep returned her attention back to Phantompaw and gave a scoff, โ€œTidy yourself up a little, will you Phantompaw?โ€ She growled, mainly to herself as she stalked closer to the young molly and gave a couple of tongue rasps to Phatompawโ€™s head, cleaning excess dust off her apprenticeโ€™s forehead.

โ˜พ - DEERKIT

| Kit | Tom | 2 Moons | Nursery | Tags:Brackenfoot, Shatteredkit, Elmpaw |Mentions:
_______________________________________________

โ€œTake that, you fox!โ€ Deerkit triumphantly whispered to himself as he pounced at the ball of moss. Deerkit batted it towards his mother, Brackenfoot, but stopped it before it touched her. The kit didnโ€™t want to distrub his mother quite yet, he was content by himself at the moment. The fawn Tom lifted his head to stare at Elmpaw for a moment, of course he didnโ€™t pay attention to anything the apprentice was saying. Deerkit flicked his head back to the moss ball and pounced on it once more, giving a tiny hiss.

Deerkit swatted the ball once more before sighing, deciding he was done. The kit stomped back over to Brackenfootโ€™s nest and flopped himself down beside Shatteredkit, snuggling into his brother and motherโ€™s warmth. Deerkit wasnโ€™t tired, he had been awake for quite sometime complaining about the cold. The Tom put his head down and stared at Brackenfootโ€™s tail, following it with interest.

    ๐šŒ๐š˜๐š–๐šŽ๐š๐š๐š›๐š˜๐š [หˆkรคmษ™t-trรคt] โ€” 47 moons
๐–ถ๐– ๐–ฑ๐–ฑ๐–จ๐–ฎ๐–ฑ. a light brown bengal tom with pale green eyes
location: camp | tags: elmpaw, brackenfoot & her kits
Comettrot could hardly feel his paws and he was almost certain his ears would break off if he twitched them again โ€” albeit, the weather was a tad warmer than when heโ€™d been roused for the dawn patrol, but not by much. The bengal tom had gone to wake his apprentice to join Smokefeather and a few others on the outing, but seeing the younger cat warm and snuggled up in the apprenticeโ€™s den had prompted Comettrot to let Elmpaw stay warm for just a little while longer. Thus, he entered the camp alone after Smokefeather, his jaws clamped around a thin squirrel that had practically leapt in his paws while the patrol was returning to camp. After saying farewell to the others in the patrol, Comettrot took to the direction of the nursery, thinking Brackenfoot and her kits might enjoy some fresh, warm prey.

When he arrived, though, Elmpaw was already there and greeting the queen, a sparrow set down beside her. Comettrot blinked and gave a tiny little shrug. Someone else would be able to enjoy his squirrel, it seemed, or perhaps he and his apprentice could share it before they went out for some training.

โ€œOh, I uh, pardon me, I โ€˜ope Iโ€™m not intrudinโ€™ or anythinโ€™,โ€ he mewed after setting his prey down at his feet. His tail draped over Elmpawโ€™s shoulders for a moment, a sort of silent greeting while Comettrot peered into the nursery with warmth in his gaze. Finally, his eyes flickered back to his apprentice and he nodded to the squirrel. โ€œReckon we could share this, you and I, as youโ€™ve been so kind toโ€™a bring miss Brackenfoot here somethinโ€™ to eat. Bloodโ€™s still warm and heโ€™s a thin little critter, but food is food, eh?โ€

Pigeonpawโ€™s eyes flickered open as rustling and pawsteps greeted her ears. Raising her head an inch or two above her nest, she watched drowsily as her mentor, Rosedust, left the den with some herbs in her jaws. The fluffy she-cat yawned and snuggled deeper into her nest, relishing the warmth that enveloped her. Wait....

Ears pinning down, she was suddenly alert as she glared at the sleeping form of her sister curled up in her nest. Pigeonpaw had told Spanglespur countless times that she had no business sleeping in the medicine den, but time after time again she woke up to her sibling cozied up next to her. It was understandable in some way, as Pigeonpaw had a fair amount of thick fur and Spanglespur had a short coat, but it was also embarrassing that her sister couldnโ€™t adhere to something as simple as sleeping in her own nest. Pigeonpaw sighed. If she was being honest, she did kind of miss the days where they spent every moment at each otherโ€™s side โ€” even when asleep โ€” but things were different now, especially with Spanglespur as a warrior and she a medicine cat apprentice.

After giving her littermate a few more moments of rest while she groomed down her fur, Pigeonpaw raised a paw and prodded Spanglespur on the face a few times. โ€œWake up, furball! Before someone sees you!โ€

      โ€œBuzz off, Pidge. Itโ€™s warm in here...and quiet.โ€

Pigeonpaw hesitated. Should she leave Spanglespur here? Gritting her teeth, she gave her sister a harder shove. โ€œItโ€™s past time to wake up! If you werenโ€™t here keeping me warm I wouldโ€™ve been up at a proper time.โ€

โ€œSounds like I did you a favor then.โ€ Spanglespur leaned up and groggily pawed at her nose. She sighed and got up out of the nest, stretching and rubbing against her sister in a cheeky attempt to get bits of feather and moss off of her pelt. Pigeonpaw narrowed her eyes and playfully shouldered Spanglespur away.

โ€œAlright, scram. Go find someone else to bother.โ€ She watched until her sisterโ€™s tail disappeared before edging over to the herb stores. Sighing lightly, she began checking through the leaves, making a pile of those who had been frostbitten in the storm or were just too old and dusty to keep.

    location: forest | tags: eggroll
      โ€”see pigeonpawโ€™s post for moreโ€”

After leaving the medicine den, Spanglespur sighed and looked around the camp, busying herself for a few moments by batting at the newly fallen snow and bounding around in the drifts. When her body was warm and limber, she slipped towards the dirtplace to conduct her business and hastily slipped away out into the forest. While she was growing used to patrolling with the cats of the clan, a fresh snow beckoned to her more than anything, and never could she ignore its summons. The calico she-cat lifted her muzzle, inhaling the sharp tang of snow and wet pine, feeling the cold dig into her fur and awaken her groggy mind. Sprinting into action, she raced into the forest, pushing herself to go faster and faster. Muscles pumping and heart thundering, heat spread throughout her limbs and snow flew up in all directions as she plowed through the land.

It was miraculous that she didnโ€™t collide with some hidden rock or fallen tree, but when her lungs finally demanded air, she came to a stop and realized she wasnโ€™t even in the territory. Of course, this wasnโ€™t much trouble for her โ€” why should the borders keep them in? Werenโ€™t they just to keep other cats out?

As soon as the thought crossed her mind, she realized she could smell another feline. Curious, she pranced through the snow, undaunted by the prospect of meeting up with an outsider. Sheโ€™d spent nearly her whole life having to deal with strangers, what was one more? Finally, she spotted him: a dark tabby stark against the white void. โ€œHo there!โ€ she called, approaching. The scent of her clan came back to her and she reasoned that the border must be just here. โ€œWhat brings you here?โ€ Her tone wasnโ€™t hostile but inquisitive, and she stopped a tail-length or so away from the loner with flat fur and wide eyes.

he noticed as she nudged her kits awake upon the sight of the prey and his own presence. elmpaw smiled as she spoke and he nodded at first to her comment on the warmest den, it was rather toasty in here and slightly hot with his thick pelt. when she questioned him on the temperature of the apprentice den, he offered her a shrug. "i think its pretty warm miss brackenfoot. though i don't know if my less furry den mates can agree with me." he said sheepishly. at times it got hot in the den and he would find himself trying to cool off near the entrance by the time morning came. he was surprised no one had stepped on him yet. of course not many of the cats came through the den before he woke usually so that was a possibility why.

he turned his attention to one of her kits as he spoke, shatteredkit to be exact. the former kittypet grinned down at the smaller tom. "i brought you food. i can play with you some time if comettrot doesn't need me for anythin' today." he said cheerfully to the kit. then he returned his gaze back to that of the queen. "i mean, i guess well? i'm unsure of what is really expected to be honest miss. i'm not too familiar with living off on my own so everything is sorta new." he explained to her as he watched shatteredkit's distaste of what he brought. "oh no, ya see shatteredkit, the art is you have to pluck 'em and then the good stuff is underneath. i'm not too fond of feathers either, i'm pretty sure we've had the same problems with them." he said with a chuckle. "feathers make nests softer. hmph. didn't know that. i'm sure i could use a few then miss bracken." he said with a nod.

the rustling by the front of the nursery caught his attention and his amber gaze focused to see his mentor, comettrot. "heya comettrot!" he said upon recognition. after bracken responded to his mentor, he pushed himself to his paws and nodded to the tom. "sure, food is food." he said before turning back to his company. "see ya around shatteredkit, deerkit." he said to the two before addressing brackenfoot. "should ya need anything i'll be sure to bring it if you need some help." elmpaw added before padding to his mentor.

The tomโ€™s eyes glowed when Shatteredkit spoke to him, and he chuckled softly when the younger tom asked to go hunting. โ€œOh, but who would show young Elmpaw the ropes?โ€ he replied, using his paw to stop the sparrow from rolling out into the clearing. Comettrot fell silent while Brackenfoot disciplined her kit, merely nodding when she commented about Elmpawโ€™s kindness. The bengal didnโ€™t know if the sparrow was fresh or just left over from the past evening, but he was proud of his apprentice for thinking first of the queen and her kits anyway. And surely he wouldnโ€™tโ€™ve gone into the forest without me?

โ€œYou can try a bite of the squirrel if ya like, youngster; if itโ€™s alright with your mum oโ€™course,โ€ he mewed to Shatteredkit with a polite nod to Brackenfoot. Settling down at the entrance to the nursery, his gaze flickered to Elmpaw, unsure where he got the notion theyโ€™d be eating elsewhere.

โ€œYou wouldnโ€™t believe the size of these here critters in the neighborhood I grew up in; big as you two kits here,โ€ Comettrot rumbled, prodding the squirrel before sinking his teeth into it for a bite. The flesh wasnโ€™t as succulent as it was in greenleaf, but he was thankful nonetheless for something warm and fresh for his belly.

After Pigeonpaw finished her sorting, she grabbed the pile of unsatisfactory herbs and slipped out of the medicine den. The clearing was blanketed in snow, the white surface blemished by muddy paw prints and tracks. The young she-cat wrinkled her nose as she sank down into the soggy earth below, her stout legs carrying her to the edge of the camp where she buried her load and stood observing the camp. A light growl rolled from her rounded stomach, but she didnโ€™t dare take anything from the pile before the patrols were able to stock it up more; surely those working hard to keep the clan fed should get to eat first?

She edged away from her spot and finally heaved herself up onto a boulder, its surface wet but snow free. Spanglespur was nowhere in sight and she figured that her sister must have left the camp to enjoy some ounce of freedom before being stuck to a patrol. Pigeonpaw sighed and tilted her head up to try to soak up the weak sunlight, all the while keeping an eye out for her mentor.

โ€œDid I? Oh, thatโ€™s a shame...I bet FrayClan mice taste so much better than any other old rodent out there,โ€ she mewed with a glance at the bush the rogue had been inspecting. โ€œAnd, well, when youโ€™ve got other cats to share in the hunting, you find a brilliant thing called free time, so Iโ€™ve got to do something with all this energy. What about you? Did your mother let you live looking like that, just because?โ€

Spanglespurโ€™s eyes gleamed and she used her tail to flick snow off of her flank. This tom didnโ€™t seem like the skittish type, and whether he had a sharp tongue or sharp claws, she didnโ€™t particularly care. Anything to do something, she thought. No way was she going to spend her day doing boring things like small-talk and patrolling. Sheโ€™d always thought the wild cats lived lives of adventure and action, but it seemed nowadays that they only really cared about territory and rules.

Copperfang scoffed but said nothing to discourage Fraystar from his optimism. Instead, she flicked her chilled ears in a vain attempt to keep the blood circulating in them and went to answer his question. "Mmm, no. Still early though, yeah? I'll wait 'til some'a the others have had a chance. Or maybe I'll go'n catch somethin' later."

"Though I don't fancy diggin' mice outta the frozen dirt." She said it as an aside, giving her claws a small flex. Trying to claw through the nearly-solid soil made her paws ache; birds were much easier to catch in leafbare -- and typically much more abundant. Still, what she wouldn't give for the sweet taste of a mouse. Giving a soft sigh that resulted in a puff of white mist, Copperfang eyed the barren treetops. "Here's hopin' that newleaf is right around the corner."

She turned her attention back to the camp, watching a crowd of cats entering the nursery. A queen had a few kittens in there, she recalled. Bracken-something-or-another. She liked kits as much as the next cat -- which was to say, she liked them well enough. Once upon a time she had dreamed of having a family of her own with little kits tumbling over her paws. Now, she wasn't so sure what she wanted. For now, a warm place to sleep and a fresh meal was enough.

To shake off her maudlin thoughts, Copperfang directed a question at Fraystar. She trailed her gaze around the camp before bringing it back to the ginger tom. "So, what're you up to today, oh great and glorious leader?"

Pepperpaw thought about waiting around in the freezing cold for Puffinheart to appear. Surely it wouldn't be too long before she appeared. He was distracted by something flickering in the corner of his eye, though. Shifting, he spied the medicine cat apprentice perching on a snow-free boulder. It was bound to be less cold up there, and one soul was better company than none. Mind made, Pepperpaw rose on stiff limbs and padded over to the large rock. He heaved himself onto the boulder, scrambling against the slick surface a little before finding a foothold and pulling himself up. He cleared his throat as he sat beside Pigeonpaw, his ears burning a little as his less-than-stellar entrance. Hopefully, the she-cat hadn't seen his awkward leap.

"Morning, Pigeonpaw." He greeted her, shifting his paws on the cold, wet surface of the rock. He finally settled, doing his best to tuck his paws under his chest for warmth. Silently, he griped over his lack of a thick pelt that so many of his clanmates seemed to possess. "Whatcha up to? Don't imagine there's a lot of herbs to be picked in this weather. Frost tends to wither the leaves. An' most of the plants're probably dead 'cause of the cold."

Realizing he had been rambling on, Pepperpaw cleared his throat again. " 'Course you probably already knew that. Hope you do, at least. You're the medicine cat apprentice an' all. Medicine cats've got to know that. Won't do no good looking for herbs that aren't there."

โ€ - ROSEDUST

| Medicine Cat | Molly | 27 Moons | Med. Den | Tags: Brackenfoot, Comettrot, Elmpaw, Kits |Mentions: Pigeonpaw
_______________________________________________

Rosedust gathered that most cats had been awake and about, and that patrols had already been sent off, much to Rosedustโ€™s relief. Treating wounds and sicknesses was easier, but treating starvation? That wasnโ€™t something Rosedust could magically make go away. The medicine cat sighed as she began trotting over to the nursery, Rosedust hoped she had been doing alright with her job so far. Rosedust had began doubting herself, seeing the other strong and lean cats that could hold their own and seemed to know what they were doing, while the Lynx point was just a small kittypet who had been lucky enough to catch a cat that taught her only about herbs. Rosedust shook the thoughts for her head, she didnโ€™t like being cooped up in a twoleg den, and she most certainly didnโ€™t like the thought of fighting other cats or coming back empty pawed from a hunting patrol only to let down her clan. No, Rosedust enjoyed tending to her clanmates and gathering resources to help them, she found no thrill in the silly thought of fighting. Rosedust approached the nursery and saw just how crowded it had become. Setting down the parsley so it rested gently on top of the snow, Rosedust poked her head in, โ€œMy what a crowd you have Brackenfoot!โ€ The molly purred in amusement, โ€œGoodmorning Elmpaw, Comettrot.โ€ She said, dipping her head respectfully towards the two. โ€œI hope everyone is alright, itโ€™s been quite chilly the past few days and I fear that someone may develop a cough of some sort. Iโ€™m sure Pigeonpaw and I will be heading out to find what we can in that case, that is if there is anything to look for. โ€ She sighed quietly. Rosedust realized how ahead of herself she was getting and her ears grew hot with embarrassment, โ€œOh right, silly me. Iโ€™ve come to see if you need any parsley Brackenfoot? We donโ€™t want you know who to begin throwing a fit.โ€ She purred in amusement. Though directed mostly towards Deerkit, she motioned her head towards both kits.

โ– - MAPLESTEP

| Warrior | Molly | 38 Moons | Camp Clearing | Tags: Phantompaw |Mentions:

Maplestep almost snorted at the remark, โ€œOld bat...โ€ She echoed with amusement and turned to walk out of camp yet again. Maplestep didnโ€™t wait for Phatompaw, but she did go slow enough for Phantompaw to follow. โ€œA quick run sounds nice,โ€ Maplestep started as she exited the camp, trudging through the snow that layered the ground. The molly turned her head back slightly to catch her apprenticeโ€™s face, โ€œThen weโ€™ll see whoโ€™s really an old bat.โ€ She said, giving another slight chuckle of self-amusement. As they trotted farther away from camp, Maplestep stopped in a clearing where the trees gave a clear pathway. The calico waited for Phatompaw to catch up, dipping her paw in the snow to test how deep the cold layer really was. It wasnโ€™t terrible, but it was sticky and melting on the pads of her paws quickly.

โ˜พ - DEERKIT

| Kit | Tom | 2 Moons | Nursery | Tags:Brackenfoot, Shatteredkit, Elmpaw, Comettrot |Mentions:
_______________________________________________

Deerkit looked up at the two toms, though he kept his mouth shut he did look at them with admiration, he couldnโ€™t wait to become an apprentice like Elmpaw, but he was even more eager to earn his warrior name, just like Comettrot. Deerkit gave a slight whine as Brackenfoot denied the suggestion of bringing Shatteredkit and him out to hunt. Deerkit flicked his small tail to the ground in frustration and mopily stared at the The smell of the fresh sparrow hit the kits nose, causing it to wrinkle, โ€œI donโ€™t want it.โ€ He grumbled quietly, though mostly to himself it still came out as a whine. Deerkit turned his attention back to Brackenfootโ€™s tail, his own tail wiggled wildly as he suddenly pounced at it with a sly look on his face.

Mothwhisper is a brown tabby tom with amber eyes.
{Tom} {30 Moons} {Warrior} {Location: Camp} {Mentions: Fraystar, Copperfang } {Tags: Open}

Mothwhisper noticed today the clan was wasting no time in the daily routines. He blinked his eyes still adjusting
since waking from slumber. He glanced around the camp wondering what was going on at the moment. Since, the dawn
patrol was returning he knew he must have slept later than he wanted to. He wondered if the hunting patrol had gone
yet. He glanced around scanning the camp's activity. He wondered if he was needed for anything. As, he glanced around
he saw that Fraystar was talking to Copperfang. Not wanting to disturb his leader he turned away. He padded over to
the fresh-kill pile. As, he stared at the pile he suddenly thought that he should go hunting. With a flick of his tail he
padded off towards the camp entrance. With a quick glance back he bounded out of camp.

Mothwhisper bounded past a tree and leapt over a rock. His paws crunched on the snow underfoot. He began to doubt
his actions as he knew prey was scarce. He would more than likely find any prey. His tail twitched as he stopped short.
His ears pricked he began to listen for any sound. He stood there motionless for a moment. His tail flicked since he could
hear nothing. He wondered if he should continue on. He knew he probably wouldn't find any. He decided he should continue
onward. His whiskers twitching he began to pad off in search of prey.

Mothwhisper knew he had gone quite far when he stopped. He was near the outskirts of Frayclan territory. His whiskers twitched
as he glanced around. He didn't see anything. He turned his paws sinking slightly into the snow. A gust of wind came by at that
moment which blew some snow off of a branch of a tree. The snow fell onto his back and his ears pricked. He still couldn't hear
anything. Shaking the snow from his back he began to quicken his pace. He lowered his head his ears shoved forward. His eyes
flickered to and fro as he walked. His tail lifted high he wondered if he would find anything. He continued farther along the
clan border. He stopped and scented the air. No scent came to him. He sighed frustrated that he had not found any prey. He
knew this might happen though. His tail now low he turned away and headed back towards camp.

Upset by the fact that he didn't find any prey Mothwhisper padded into camp. He glanced around his gaze falling onto the
fresh-kill pile. Mayb,e he would find prey later. Leaf-bare was almost over. However, he still felt like he had failed his clan.
He had thought he would be starving by the time he got back from hunting. But as he gazed at the pile now he didn't feel
the slightest bit hungry. Glancing at it one last time he padded over to the warriors den. He sat down outside the entrance
wondering what he would do next.

Ivorypaw yawned as he padded out of the apprentice den. He wondered what he would do today. He wondered if
his mentor was up. He should go find him. He glanced around the camp wondering if he should eat first before finding
his mentor. He decided he should. He padded over to the fresh-kill pile. He took a mouse before heading back to the
apprentice den. He sat down his tail wrapped around his paws. He then began to eat his mouse.

Once, he was done eating he decided he should find Smokefeather. He wondered if he was up to training him today. He
hoped so. He couldn't wait to start training. He padded around glancing at the other cats. Most we're talking to one another
while others we're by themselves. He padded around other cats and leaping over some looking for his mentor. FInally, he found
him walking around the camp. "Hey, Smokefeather!" he called to the tom. He bounded over to stand by
his mentor.

    [ 33 moons ] - [ molly ] - [ loner ] - [ no crush/mate ] - [ outskirts of territory ] - [ mentions: --- ] - [ tags: --- ]
the frigid cold air ruffled her long pelt, leaving a shiver to run down her spine in response. though her coat looked thick, it was rather sliky and thin, resulting in little protection from the elements. one thing she did hate that she had not gotten from her father was his overly thick pelt but that was not something she could currently change for the time being. for now she would just deal with the cold and hope for warmer weather sooner or later.

the gray feline padded along the edge of the new clan territory, though she usually kept out of it since it was established, today was a little different. she had caught the scent of a shrew and her stomach yet again reminded her that she needed to eat. often, gail would forget to hunt as she enjoyed roaming the lands and exploring more than actually feeding herself at times. it was something of a bad habit but she never starved herself.

the scent grew stronger as she grew closer and she scanned the area with amber eyes, searching for movement anywhere in the vicinity. at first, there was nothing and she sighed before freezing, a movement to her left caught her attention. the feline moved forward, dropping into a hunter's crouch and keeping her body as still as possible with her movements. when she drew closer, she readied herself to strike. wiggling her rear, she leaped forward the unsuspecting victim let out a short squeal before she ended its life. prey caught, she ate it right then and there, burying the scraps and then moving on with her adventure for the day.

the tom watched and listened to both brakenfoot and the kits, watching as one kit attacked the other in amusement. he turned his attention back to his mentor as he sat down outside the entrance of the nursery. it was not long before he spotted the medicine cat moving inside the nursery and speaking with brackenfoot for a moment or two.

the young ginger tom turned his attention to his mentor, looking down at the squirrel that he offered for them to share. nodding his head at the tom's words, squirrels big as the kits, he had seen that before, it made elm think of his sister for a moment, she had loved to watch the squirrels outside through the window. at times he did regret leaving her but he couldn't find any way in the house after the incident. sighing, he took a bite of the squirrel, enjoying the taste of the warm prey. "yeah, they would pester us through the two-leg den we stayed in. the birds too but we usually ended up catching any mice that found their way inside." the apprentice told his mentor as he thought of the good times he did have with his sister.

"so, what was your neighborhood like comettrot?" elmpaw questioned curiously. his own had a lot of twoleg dens and dogs, some of which lived with cats too. it was weird but elmpaw himself had met a dog or two and they had been generally friendly inside the den but he would never trust one outside with how everything here seemed quite different.
