ＢＩＲＤＣＬＡＮ
- Birdclan, a clan of cats that resides on a lonely, high-risen island, guarded by jagged cliffs. It's a clan of incredibly resilient cats, as they've adapted to deal with the powerful storms that frequently roll through. The storms are what helped create the clan, after all.
Birdclan was started long ago when some ship cats washed ashore after their vessel sank during a storm. They were discovered by feral cats who had already lived on the island, but had previously lived separately. However, the fascination of the strange newcomers brought these loners together, as they taught the shipwrecked cats how to survive on the island, and in return, the shipwreck cats taught the loners the importance of company. One of the toughest cats, a tom named Dusk, had fallen in love with one of the shipwrecked cats, a she-cat named Birdie. With Birdie's kind nature and Dusk's natural skill for being a strong leader, they brought the cats of the island together. However, it lacked a name for some several moons, until a tragedy occurred.
A pack of feral dogs were terrorizing the cats, killing a few. During a patrol lead by Birdie, this pack caught up with these cats. Birdie lead the dogs away, and leapt off the cliff; herself and the ferocious dogs falling into the ocean below. Her body was found on the rocks at the bottom of the cliff at low-tide. The clan felt great sorrow at the loss of the sweet-hearted she-cat, but at the same time, inspired by the sacrifice she made for the good of the clan. It was unanimously agreed that the group would be named "Birdclan", to honor Birdie. Dusk also took one more step to honor his fallen mate, by setting in place a law, that stated that all kits born from then on would be named after birds.
Birdie, along with the other cats killed by the dogs, visited Dusk the night the clan was given its official name, informing him of Starclan's existence. He was also given an important suffix- 'star'- to distinguish his role as leader. The leader and the teller, from then on, were able to visit Starclan by touching noses where Birdie's body was found.
Birdclan has been around for countless generations now, and despite the dreary land they live in, they've been prosperous, and they've continued the tradition of naming every single kit after birds. Aside from a clan of rogues, who call themselves 'Dogclan,' occasionally causing a ruckus, things have been relatively peaceful. The stormy seasons of Greenleaf has began, and the clan are bracing themselves for the unpredictability of the season. With the change in season, the leader and the teller have received a briefly worded, but incredibly vague prophecy.
Three fledglings will fly off, only to guide a storm under their wings as they return.
