[Sacred Sin]

Leaf Fall ran, following the scent of Kikiara and the demon. He quickly emerged into the clearing, and the sickly sweet smell of demon and death hit the roof of his mouth. He tried not to puke as he felt his stomach roll. He walked past the dead demon and found the bodies. "Soul..." he choked out.

Jakei looked at Shiko and his eyes widened. "Leeches?" He whispered. He struggled to get up. "Get them off! I am fine. I need to help get their bodies! Where is Yuri!!"

Jupiter stood up and decided to let Jakei speak with Shiko. "I will be outside."

[Sidewind]

Flare walked alongside Raven as they padded over to Apollo and Phantom. Hearing Raven say they had found a lot of berries he agreed silently in his head and then said,while looking up at Raven "Can I swim in the river??" Ignoring what he thought he heard in the distance he trotted up to walk beside Raven and rubbed his head in her soft black fur waiting for her reply.

Turning her head to see if they where coming Jingle kept walking. Finally getting to the bush she ignored Raven's comment about how many they had found and instead put her mind to picking up all the blackberry sticks. Ignoring what she heard in the distance as well she trotted to catch up to the group without pricking herself.

Shiko held Jakei down with a gentle paw, "You're not fine, don't get up. We're using leeches to extract the poison, if you move around, it will just make the treatment more ineffective. You're safe now, Yuri is fine and so are Ryuu and Copper. I think the others are going to get... the bodies..." Shiko explained rather sadly.

Jakei looked almost as though he was about to protest, but obviously decided against it. "Very well" he murmured and leaned back.

Raven smiled at her apprentice- no, her mate and licked him on the cheek before responding. "No," she said teasingly, "You can't swim in the river. This is a patrol, not a stroll through the woods," she lightly flicked him with her tail before continuing, "I'm going to teach you how to find river crabs if we see any, and we might even be able to find some dead fish along the shore!" Looking over her shoulder she said, "I'm pretty sure we've found some mushrooms there before, so you warriors will have something to do too!"

Copper tried not to let the hurt show in his face as he pulled rabbit over to him and finished it up, his stomach finally ceased growling and he already felt his energy come back. Sighing, he followed the newcomer to the strawberry bush and began to pick the berries. It was difficult work at first, since Copper wasn't used to being so delicate, but he soon got past the point where they all popped in his mouth, and he was able to get into a steady rhythm. "Good idea using the stick to string them on," he said to Heron, awkwardly trying to make conversation, "I'm guessing you've done this before?"

Soul sighed, hoping that the leash wouldn't be burdened with the death of two foxes, not so quickly after the finding of the key. "I'm going to go see what went on. Stay here, you're in charge. Make sure the alchemist's den doesn't get too crowded, and check up on Bluebell if you can." The leader placed his tail on Ryuu's shoulder for a moment before dashing off after Leaf Fall. He couldn't believe that the SIC had just taken off like that, but the time for reprimandments would be later. Soul burst out of the undergrowth and saw a scene that would forever remain etched in his memory. A black, deformed, overgrown badger oozed blood, and it's mouth was covered with green foam. Beyond it's corpse lay the bodies of Sasha and Kiki- or what remained of them... Kiki was was almost torn in half, and Sasha was ripped up, both were still bleeding. It's obvious that the demon caught them by surpise. Soul went by Leaf Fall and stood closer to him that usual, knowing that his prescense would calm him. "I've never seen anything like this before," he murmed. "Are you okay?"

"Right, well... After you feel you've recovered, I'll remove the leeches, but you'll have to come back everyday for a week to take herbs. I want to make sure your recovery is thorough." Shiko looked seriously at Jakei. The scratch that the demon had inflicted upon her in a dream still ached a bit, and it had been a full two days since it had happened.

Ryuu nodded to Soul, flicking his tails as the leader sprang away. He felt better knowing that Copper was with a fierce fox like Heron. And Yuri... well... Yuri could at least run. Standing up and stretching, he poked his head into the nursery. "Are you okay?" he asked Bluebell.

Yuri was in the middle of slurping a snail when he caught a musky scent. Instantly, he dropped into the crouch Jakei had shown him and began to creep forward. Mouse mouse mouse! he thought as his sharp eyes searched the undergrowth. Mouse mouse mouse! Oh! Falling leaf! Yuri sprang up and caught the leaf between his paws before realizing he wasn't focused on his task. Shaking himself, he sniffed the air again, relieved that the scent was still there. Crouching again, he suddenly spotted a few furry bodies. Mmm... Yuri sprang, catching two of them beneath his two paws, the other two scurried away. Their tiny spines cracked and Yuri's heart leaped with pleasure. Yes! Happily, he picked his kill up in his mouth and trotted back to where Heron and Copper were.

"Okay fine..." Flare said with a dissapointed tone in his voice. "Crabs really?" He asked "Do they taste good??" Flare said asking another question,but he kept walking beside his mate

Jingle walked slowly at the back of the group and tried to say something that miserably failed to sound like any given word because of all the blueberry sticks in her mouth.

Leaf Fall looked at Soul. "Nothing like this." He glared at the ground. "I have never seen a demon kill a fox in this way. It is brutal and ruthless. How could Kinari let this happen?" He whispered in agony. He glanced over at the dead, deformed demon and shuddered. "Jakei's fur is still in his mouth." He growled. "I think we should clear this demon's body away. It is poisoning the air, the water near it, and this glen." He cast his eyes away from its putrid flesh and looked at his dead, leash mates, his eyes softening in his sadness. "And we must help them get a proper burial."

Jakei sat up shakily. "I think I am alright now Shiko. Please don't worry, though I feel very light-headed. Have the leeches taken the poison out of my system yet?" His stomach rolled as he thought of what the slimy black things were doing and he flinched away from the unwelcome thought. "What can this mean Shiko?" he finally asked. "So soon after finding the key? Is Zargon angry?" His eyes were wide and fearful, something quite out of character for him.

Phantom smiled as they got to the rushing river. He plodded up to it's bank, glancing around the wet ground for anything good. He remembered the berry-sticks in his mouth, and walked over to a bush and set them down. He didn't want the berries to get wet. Phantom went back to the riverbank, the water ticking the tips of his paws. He strolled across it until his paw hit something wet and small. Looking down to check what it was, much to his lucky stars, was a dead fish. "What luck." He muttered with a smile, both to him and the others. Phantom sniffed it to make sure it was not rotten, and picked it up when the good fishy smell of it's-not-rotten wafted up.

Shiko began to pull the leeches off Jakei and return them to the stone box they were held in. "I don't know, Jakei." she sighed as tiny spots of blood began to well up where the leeches were. She smeared a poultice of daisy and mint over all of his wounds. Then used cattail to plug them all up. She paid special attention to the deep wound on his shoulder, using vines to hold the cattail fluff in place. "If it was a sign from Zargon, we just have to be more wary. Whatever happens, Kinari will protect us." Shiko looked up at Jakei with reassuring eyes.
