Jaypaw nodded. "Okay! Can we hunt on the way? Pleeeease? How about some battle training? I know you're not my mentor, but pleeeese??" She asked in a rush of words, smiling brightly.

Nightsplash dropped a vole in front of Echostorm. "I, uh, thought you might be...hungry," he mewed, embarressed.

Sandstar nodded her head to Forestlight; she could tell the young warrior wasn't happy. "Forestlight, I'd like you to play mentor to Shadow. He is thinking about staying here with us, so he needs to learn our ways."

"All right." Forestlight replied.

Mosspelt said "Yeah, the fresh kill pile seemed-" He stopped suddenly as he smelt a fox. It was the fox. "Jaypaw. Go back to camp. Now. Get a patrol. And hurry."

Echostorm looked up in surprise. "Huh? Oh, thank you." She mumbled, sitting up and taking a small bite of the vole. "I really should try to hunt first, but I'm starving." She shrugged, though she knew that hunting would most likely not be successful. "Did you already eat, or would you like to share?" She asked sheepishly, meeting his eyes the least amount of times possible.

Jaypaw cocked her head and sniffed the air. "Fox? Cool! I wanna stay and fight!" She bounced in her excitement, tail lashing. "I'll make it so scared it's fur will fall off!"

"Um, er, I already ate," Nightsplash said. "But thanks." He looked down at his paws.

Echostorm shrugged and took a large bite. "No, thank you. I actually was pretty hungry." She smiled softly and finished off the vole with a gulp then rose to her feet. "I should probably hunt now." She mumbled, shaking her head.

"Sandstar said we can't go out alone, with that huge fox around and everything," Nightsplash said. "So you might have to wait for the patrol at sundown."

Echostorm sighed. "Oh, right. Well..." She trailed off. Now that she wasn't aloud, she wanted more than ever to go. "Then... would you come with me? Then I wouldn't be alone!"

"well, forestlight." Shdow mewed. "What now?"

"Oh! Um, right. Yeah, I guess that would mean you aren't alone," Nightsplash laughed awkwardly. "Well, yeah, I'll come."
