The beta wrinkled her muzzle in agitation when the pups didn't go to the den. She had just turned her head to see why, catching a flicker of Ember's red pelt out of the corner of her gaze, before being approached by Amber. The she-wolf dipped her head to the beta and politely asked why the pups were out, but before an answer could be given, the caretaker entered the conversation and began explaining. Flash briefly looked away from the two, looking off towards the camp to check on who was gathered. Apathmo and Galen had returned, and they looked unharmed. That was good. She did not see Death, Luna, or Snow, which brought on feelings of worry and frustration for the beta. There was so much that needed to be done... She really needed her fellow leaders and superior...

Her ear flicked back and caught on to the conversation between Ember and Amber. Hearing what Ember was saying, a low rumble emitted from Flash's throat. Without warning, she turned and snapped at the caretaker; not physically, but verbally. "YOU do not make such decisions for the pack, Ember. Nothing is final until we have heard from Snow." Her voice was harsh and her eyes gleamed dangerously. She instantly regretted it though. Ember was right; the best option would be to move, and Snow would probably feel the same. It was just... With so much pressure, the beta felt uncomfortable and stressed. If none of the other high ranks could be found, she'd have to take charge herself... Not to mention the fact that she simply didn't want to have to move again. No one in the pack did. It was hard not to snap. Briefly softening her gaze and giving Ember an apologetic look, she sighed and made herself calm down. "Gather the pack. I'm going to find Snow." With that as her final monotonous say in the matter, she turned and began lumbering off towards the Alpha's den.

The little pup cocked his head in confusion. Flash had told them to go to the den, but Ember had returned and Flame was running off towards her instead. Not sure who to follow, he hopelessly trailed after Flame. He rested by the girl pup's side while they listened to the adults. His head looked back and forth between Ember and Amber as they spoke, but when Flash suddenly lashed out, the child jumped and pressed himself against Flame, looking up at the beta fearfully. Instantly though, the light golden wolf calmed and sighed. It then became very clear how tired she was. It must be hard... Winter thought. Being beta. What about Death...? Death was the other beta of the pack, and even though he wasn't mated to Flash, they were supposed to share responsibilities. The beta male male had been particularly kind to Winter when he had first been found, gently encouraging the pup to come out of his shell. Winter looked around, but didn't see the demon wolf anywhere.

Flash had walked off now, leaving the two adults and two pups alone. Winter sighed and looked back to Flame, then discovered she looked sad. He whimpered, knowing why, and leaned in to gently lick her cheek in comfort. It'll be okay Flame...

The healer was quick about getting back to camp, knowing he wouldn't have the energy to fight off another human, should he be unfortunate enough to encounter one. Thankfully, he managed to get back without confrontation. He trotted wearily into the clearing, stopping briefly to lift up his head and scan the area. It seemed most wolves from the clan were present, and news already seemed to be spreading... He looked for the pups anxiously, then relaxed when he saw them sitting close to Ember. They were alright. Everyone seemed alright. For now. He sighed heavily and began dragging himself off to his den, not to go in, but to lay in front of it and just rest. To watch everyone else. Maybe listen to what Snow had to say about all of this. Better get another good look at the camp... We'll likely be moving again... Another sigh.

Ember Dawn

Female
Reddish copper she-wolf with soft blue eyes

Camp Clearing
Ember kept her gaze carefully neutral when Flash snapped at her, not letting her guard down. The caretaker might not have as much as an influential role as Flash, but she cared about the pack just as much as the beta did. She didn't want to move camps again and she was sure the feelings were mutual. Noting the subtle warning in the beta's gaze, Ember shifted to cover Flame and Winter in case Flash attacked. They don't deserve this kind of life, she thought, returning the warning. It's not their fault they were born into it...

The she-wolf watched Flash give her a look - an apology, she bet - and sigh before giving orders and leaving. Ember looked down at the pups. I forgive you for snapping, Flash, but to think that you'd consider threatening me while Flame and Winter are here...? Shaking her head out of her thoughts, the caretaker looked at Amber again. "Where's Plagg?" She repeated, shifting again to keep the two pups close. "We can get him to find the others who are out of camp."

(I dunno if there's anyone out of camp :P)

Flame Sun

Female
Reddish copper she-wolf with light blue eyes

Camp Clearing
Flame whimpered and pressed her cheek to Winter's for comfort. She felt her mother's warmth surround them and she closed her eyes. Are we ever gonna find a place to stay? A place where we don't have to keep moving?

Apathmo~Male~3 Years~Hunter
Apathmo carefully watched Flash as her colors changed dramatically in the space of a moment. It had been interesting to watch, but the spectacle was apparently over now. With a small sigh he turned to the rest of the wolves gathered. Most had the same dark color, but Flame's seemed to be the darkest. Why in the world would a pup feel so strongly about this kind of incident? Weren't they always supposed to be a happy lot? For some reason, seeing Flame's dark color made him upset, which he didn't like in the least. Carefully staying a neutral grey, he selected a rather fat squirrel and padded over to the small group. He flicked his ears uncertainly, but dropped the meat and pushed it toward the pups. "You should eat something," he said softly, backing up to give the group space.

f l a s h .
{ the pack tagged }
-tiny Flash timeskip-
She had looked everywhere. She raced over to Snow's den and searched for the Alpha, but couldn't find her. She ran over to her own den, the Beta den, that she shared with Death, but couldn't find him either. She even looked in the Delta den, in search of Luna, but she was missing too. The winged wolf snarled and cursed in frustration, backtracking multiple times to try and pick up scents, but most of the trails were old and confusing, overlapping with the fresh scents of nature and present pack members. Though she didn't want to live the pack alone, Flash felt she had no choice but to go searching, so she warily raced through the woods and looked in all of the popular places the pack liked to hang out, hoping to find someone. She was still unsuccessful, and she was beginning to panic a littl now, hyperventilating.

How could they all just vanish?! I sent Luna off to find Snow, so wherever they are, they should be together... but Death was in camp the last time I saw him! I didn't tell him to go anywhere! A dark suspicion was creeping into her mind, one she didn't want to accept, but couldn't ignore either. Wh-what if they... What if the humans... She swallowed hard, feeling tears burning the back of her eyes. She shook her head, trying to clear the thoughts. It didn't matter now. Whatever had happened, she was the Beta, and now, for the time being, the Alpha. She needed to keep the pack safe, and just trust the others could handle themselves. Sucking in a deep, shaky breath, she leapt into the air and flew back to camp.

Once she returned, she circled overhead, casting her shadow over the gathered wolves to catch their attention. She then glided down to the ground atop a large boulder, one she and Snow used to make announcements. "Iconic Clan!" she called out authoritively. "Listen to me! I have an announcement!" The beta paused, waiting for their attention and for silence to fall before continuing. Her heart pounded quickly in her chest, dreading what she would have to tell them. "I'm certain most of you know about the human sighting in the meadow today, so I'll spare you the details. Yes, the human was killed, but we don't know if it was alone or not. Knowing them, there will be more where that came from, so you know what this means; we've been found, so it is time to move on." Again, she paused, wanting that to sink in. Her confident pose faltered a little with the next part. "I regret to inform you all that... Our dear Alpha Snow cannot be found... Nor can Beta Death or even Delta Luna... I... I don't know what has happened to them, but we cannot afford to waste anymore time looking. Believe me, I've tried, and the longer we stay here, the more danger we're putting ourselves in... Therefore, as your new Alpha for the time being, I am commanding everyone to gather what they wish to take- herbs, stashed prey, whatever- and prepare yourselves to leave." With those as her final words, she stepped down from the rock, her way of silently saying it was over, then proceeded to go into her den, so she could think about where to go, and maybe say goodbye to everything...

The small pup whimpered softly, feeling Ember's sadness like an arrow through the heart. He hated to see his friend sad, but what else could he do? What could he say? Maybe we won't have to move... Maybe Snow or Flash or someone will tell us it was just one human... That we're safe... The idea didn't even ignite a spark of hope in him; he knew it wasn't true. This scene had played out too many times before... Flattening his ears and bowing his head, he sighed and closed his eyes, starting to feel tired. I just wanna take a nap and wake up when it's all over...

He perked his ears to the sound of heavy paw steps, making him look up at Apathmo. A rabbit had been dropped down and pushed towards the pups, the hunter encouraging them to eat. Winter looked down at the rabbit, willingly himself to eat so he could have a distraction, but he wasn't hungry. He looked at Flame and nudged her with his shoulder, silently asking if she wanted it. Then, suddenly, a shadow passed over them. He squinted up at the sun to be a flying wolf in the sky; Flash, without a doubt. She seemed to be getting their attention, making the pup's stomach tense. Here it is. He thought. He then looked around, puzzled when she landed on the rock with a raised tail and square shoulders. Where was Snow, and Death? Winter pinched his brows together and gazed worriedly at the Beta Female.

At first, the pup's heart and stature fell when she confirmed his fears; yep, they were moving. He wasn't surprised, yet somehow still felt a little disappointed. When she announced that Death, Snow, and Luna couldn't be found, his eyes widened and his heart started pounding. What?! Where did they go?! Are they okay?! A whimper escaped his jaws as he thought about Death, how kind the older male had been to him, and Snow, their greatly admired leader. He didn't know much of Luna, but it didn't matter to him; he loved everyone in the pack like family, and it pained him to think he'd lost three wolves in one day. Tears welded up in his eyes. It got worse when she said they'd be leaving without searching for the others. That's not fair!! He wanted to shout but couldn't find the words. Flash had already stepped off the rock and retreated into the den. Winter couldn't help it. He started crying.

The healer was taken aback by Flash's announcement, his eyes wide and mind blank. Yes, he knew they'd been leaving, and had even retreated into his den to pick herbs he wanted to take for the journey, but the loss of their Alpha, other Beta, and Delta simply blew him away. It was scary to think they'd almost lost all of their leaders in the blink of an eye. Surely they couldn't be... Dead? Where could they have all gone anyway? I wouldn't know... I wasn't here... Snow hadn't been around when he left, but he knew Luna and Death had been in camp before he went to the meadow. To his knowledge, they hadn't been there when he, Apathmo, and Ember attacked the human... The only one who would know is Flash, but she said she tried to look for them, so if she can't find them... The healer swallowed hard. They must really be missing.

Guilt weighed heavy on his heart. He was the healer, the only healer, in fact. What if they were out there somewhere, not dead, but wounded? What if they needed his help? What if they couldn't get back to camp on their own, and he was just sitting there, doing nothing? He strongly disagreed with leaving them behind. Only Flash had gone looking; surely they would have better luck if the whole pack when looking? Then, however, he glanced at the pups, reminded of their presence because Winter had started to cry. He recalled the incident with the hunter, how it had taken three fully grown adults to take just one down. If there were more... He sighed deeply. Flash was right. They couldn't afford to spend another second in their camp... He still had mixed feelings on the whole thing, but he forced himself to ignore them and start looking through his herbs, readying himself for the journey.

Amber turned her head to look at Ember Dawn "He went out scouting earlier, he should be in the immediate area though, I'll see if I can find him." she turned her head to look at the forest, and as she sent out her mind, searching for her son's, her already glowing eyes glowed slightly brighter, the trail of light that usually only appeared when she was walking or running, appeared, and even when she closed her eyes, the glow remained. Once she located her son's mental signature, she re-opened her eyes, the glow gone, and turned back to Ember Dawn "He's in the trees just outside of camp, shall I fetch him?"

Ember Dawn

Reddish copper she-wolf with soft blue eyes

Camp Clearing
Ember listened carefully to Flash and the fur on her neck rose in fear. Snow, Death and Luna are all missing? Forcing herself to be calm, the caretaker turned back to Amber once their beta - or Alpha now, she thought with a shiver - had finished speaking. "Let him know what's going on," She said. "He should keep an eye out specifically for anything that might be related to any humans. After that, you should get some prey to carry or possibly help Galen with carrying his herbs." Her ears twitched when she caught the sound of crying coming from beneath her. Instinctively, Ember lowered her head and pressed her muzzle against Winter's, hoping to provide some comfort.

Flame's vague hopes shattered and fell away after Flash spoke. Her ears were pressed flat against her head as she watched her mother speak to Amber then try to comfort Winter. She whimpered and licked her friend's cheek sadly.

Amber nodded, and briskly trotted out of the camp, heading for the clearing. Once there, she looked around, not seeing her son, but seeing a large deer. When the deer looked her in the eye, she knew it was her son, and she walked over to him "Plagg, humans have been seen, we need to be on the move. Keep an eye out for anything human related near camp, we're working on packing up, and we need to know if there is something wrong. I'll keep my mind linked to yours, if there is trouble, just think it, and I'll warn the others"

Once he left, she turned, and went back into camp, seeking out the pack's healer Galen.

When his mother showed up, Plagg stared her in the eye to let her know it was him, after all, any other deer would have been long gone by now. After she explained, he nodded, and shifted into a falcon, taking flight, as he began to search from the air for any signs of humans

Apathmo~Male~3 Years~Hunter
Apathmo was stunned by Flash's announcement. It wasn't so much the fact that they were leaving that surprised him, but knowing that all the leaders had gone missing sent a wave of palest green pass through his pelt. He looked at the wolves around him. They all seemed to be wearing dark grey emotions he assumed meant downtrodden or some similar emotion. Ember looked like a more calm blue, and Flash had been engulfed in a cloud of so many colors, he couldn't begin to translate them. He did, however, feel the need to help the young pups get out of their dark colors. They were supposed to be happy and innocent after all. Carefully, he tried turning his pelt to an optimistic orange. He didn't think the color suited him, but it might give the pups something to think about other than the whole pack moving. "Do you want to help me carry some prey?" he asked the pups quietly, "I could definitely use the help." Maybe not, but it was the best excuse he could come up with on the spot.
