"Hunting." She replied curtly. Her head jerked towards the center of camp where the food pile usually was. "Our food supply is getting a bit low for it being green-leaf. And with all these new kits running about . . ." Maplestar shook her head a bit as a look of concern tenderized her crazed eyes. "I don't want to lose any kits this year. Our clan is too small as it is. When you return, be sure all the mothers and kits are fed first. I'm tired of seeing our Queen's ribs." She flicked her tail to dismiss them.

Shallow-Water

I cocked my head slightly, wondering what in the name of starclan Maplestar was talking about.
"Rain?.. Maplestar you Must have eaten a badger for breakfast, it's bright and sunny out!" He teased her,
Though she wasn't the kind for jokes.
"Wait Flintpaw-" He meowed, catching up to the fast apprentice. "I'm going to send Specklepaw later to fetch herbs, do you think you could help her with that?" He meowed, swiveling his ears to listen, though his hearing was terrible these days. "Please Flintpaw? It's not long before I make my way to starclan, and I'd like to help my clan as long as I'm alive," He meowed, sighing. But what he'd said had disturbed the whole clearing.
Whoops.. He looked down at his paws and gave his chest-fur a couple of embarrassed licks, trying to avoid any cats' gazes.
What a mouse-brain I am! I'm going to be like Goosefeather soon enough..
Sighing, he still avoided any gazes that may be spying him.

Flintpaw

Flintpaw sighed as he heard Shallow-water. He mewed, "fine." He twitched his tail-tip irritably.

[The Fray]

Hawktalon padded up to Maplestar. "What do you want me to do?" He asked with a glint of envy in his eyes. He stretched his thick muscled shoulders and sat down curtly with his fluffy tail rapped around his big paws.

This time Maplestar didn't startle as another voice penetrated her delicate ears. They went back a little, but aside from that the clan leader remained calm and collected. "Oh Shallow-Water, not you too! They're all already looking at me like I'm crazy when they know perfectly well that I'm not. But very well, if you're all going to ignore the rain, then I suppose I can do the same." She shivered and flicked her front left paw as though trying to shake water free from it. "Though that's easier said than done!" Maplestar laughed a little before her attention was taken by Hawktalon. "Oh, Hawktalon - just in time. It seems Shallow-Water's taking away my hunting leader, so you're just the man for the job! Would you please gather a party to go out on a hunting patrol? We need to get that kill pile larger. Hm . . . you know what? I'll come along. I need to get out of this camp for a little while anyways."

Deputy Ceremony:
"I say these words before StarClan, so that the spirits of our warrior ancestors may hear and approve of my choice. The new deputy of ____Clan is ________."

Leadership Ceremony: -
Touches nose to the top of the new leader's head- "With this life I give you ____. Use it well to _______ ______."
When all of the lives have been given, the previous leader says these words:
"I hail you by your new name, _____star. Your old life is no more. You have now received the nine lives of a leader, and StarClan grants you the guardianship of ____Clan. Defend it well; care for young and old; honor your ancestors and the traditions of the warrior code; live each life with pride and dignity."

Name Changing Ceremony:
"Spirits of StarClan, you know every cat by name. I ask you now to take away the name from the cat you see before you, for it no longer stands for what he/she is. By my authority as Clan leader, and with the approval of our warrior ancestors, I give this cat a new name. From this moment on he/she will be known as _____, for ___________."

Apprentice Ceremony:
"____kit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as _____paw. Your mentor will be ________. I hope ________ will pass down all he/she knows on to you."
The leader calls up the warrior he/she has chosen as a mentor.
"________, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You had received excellent training from ________, and you have shown yourself to be ______ and ______. You will be the mentor of _____paw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to her/him."

Medicine Cat Ceremony:
"I, _______, medicine cat of ___Clan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. He/she has trained hard to understand the ways of a medicine cat, and with your help he/she will serve his/her Clan for many moons.
"___paw, do you promise to uphold the ways of a medicine cat, to stand apart from rivalry between Clan and Clan and to protect all cats equally, even at the cost of your life?"
"I do.""Then by the powers of StarClan I give you your true name as a medicine cat. ___paw, from this moment you will be known as _______. StarClan honors your _____ and _____, and we welcome you as a full medicine cat of ____Clan."

Hawktalon nodded "Its my honor" he mewed smoothly. "Just you and I or would you like me to gather some more cats?"

"Dark . . . No good, that's what he is. If you're searching for trouble . . . don't listen . . . it's not something . . . The whispers shrouded Maplestar's mind, but she managed to shove them all aside. "No no, there's no need for that I don't think. Between you and me, we should be able to handle catching a few mice." She smiled brightly before turning towards Shallow-Water. "Watch the clan until I get back, understand? Make sure everyone's out and about. Our apprentices are getting lazy." With that, she turned and trotted towards the path out of camp. "Let's go Hawktalon. Got a course we've gotta run today - there are mouths to feed."
