Cottontail gazed as the patrol left camp. She looked over at Swiftstrike in concern - she noticed a few cats catching glances at Swift occasionally. "Well... What do you think happened? I for one think somehow he got killed- but... If there was a yowl... Who or what was it that yowled? Could they be the one to kill him, if he was killed?

She looked down at her paws. "...I-I don't know. It probably happened. But... why would anyone do this?" She sighed. She looked at the group of cats behind them, standing in the camp. "I'm going with them to investigate... You can join if you want..." She turned around on her paws and trotted away, catching up with the cats. "I'm going with you. I also want to know what happened to Darkeye."

The tom glanced down at the small kit who bounced up to stand beside him. "Goodmorning," he mewed, before letting out a worried sigh. "It sounds like Darkeye went missing. I'm sure he's ok, but some of the warriors have gone out to find him."

Ivycloud picked up her pace, moving cautiously ahead of her clanmates. Her ears pricked forward as she picked up Darkeye's scent, which grew more apparent with each step. She froze at the sight of the fallen tree branch, but forced herself to move forward until she reached the deputy's lifeless form, his face frozen in a contortion of terror and his limbs outstretched in a futile attempt to claw himself free. Fighting the almost overwhelming desire to look away, Ivycloud stepped closer. The scent of another cat lingered, but it was too faint for her to make out. "There was someone else here," she murmured, casting a vacant look toward her clanmates.

Swiftstrike froze. The picture she just saw was absolutely terrifying. The blood was everywhere. The she-cat started shaking uncontrollably, which was not normal. She shook her head. "...why would anyone do this?" She whispered. "And how did the branch fall down in the first place? It's so thick... there is no way that was an accident!" A tear rolled down her face. A million thoughts were flying around in her head. It MUST HAVE BEEN a LARGE CAT. A strong, large cat. There was no way an average cat would make such a huge branch fall down. Isn't Speckledpelt a huge cat? She was not sure if he did it, but he is known for his height and strenght.

Pebblepaw’s rambling abruptly but off as she saw the unmoving form of Darkeye. She froze, wanting to look away but unable to.
“O-oh. Oh no.”
She forced herself to investigate the scene, shaking as she did so.
“A branch fell on him. A branch. It was no-one’s fault, right?” Her voice cracked as she spoke.

Ravencloud's eyes got wide as he took in the scene before him. His fur puffed up and he shivered. Then, he perked up and ran over to the body of the clan's deputy. He pressed his ear against his chest. He started shivering again. "He's dead. What do we do? Ivycloud! What do we do?"
