Rimepaw turned her gaze to Tornadostorm, eyes still wide.

"N-no. I'm ok, I think."

She licked her paw a few times, the shock starting to wear off, but now the sheer amount of cats around her was making her slightly nervous. She took a step closer to Harrierheart.

"I w-was pushed. Onto the Thunderpath."

xxHarrierheart laid his spotted tail on Rimepaw's back as a sign of comfort. "You're alright now," he told her. He tried to visualize what she said in his head as suspicion creeped in. Something about what she had said implied that whoever made an attempt on her life was a clanmate. Who would do such a thing, let alone to someone innocent like Rimepaw?

xxHarrierheart nodded to Darkpaw as he said that he was going to fetch Perchfeather. He turned back to Rimepaw, glad that someone else had arrived to help. Tornadostorm would likely do a better job at it than he could. "Who pushed you?"

Rimepaw's wide eyes locked with Harrierheart's, focusing on her breathing. In, out, in, out. She forced her memory back, trying to focus, but her mind just flashed to the moment where she tumbled onto the Thunderpath, the rumbling that shook her to the bones, the twin eyes and a promise of death.

"I-I..."

No name came to her mind.

"They said that because leaf-bare was coming w-we needed less mouths to feed."

xxWhile Harrierheart saw Rimepaw almost like a daughter, he couldn't help but be annoyed when she couldn't give a name. Even at night, how could a cat not see the one who pushed them onto a thunderpath? "You didn't see them?" he asked, perhaps rhetorically. Now, the last thing Rimepaw said. That could be a clue. Who'd go to such dire lengths to assure that we don't starve? Admittedly, starving worried Harrierheart every leaf-bare, but he would never kill his clanmates to keep ThunderClan alive.

Fablepearl felt his ears perk as sounds flooded his ears. He was curled up in the warrior's den, noticeably colder than he had been when he fell asleep- Harrierheart must be out of the den already. He recognized his voice in the rambles happening outside in camp. Then it hit him- had Rimepaw been pushed on to the Thunderpath? By a Rivverclan cat? He felt his fur bristle as he got to his paws and made his way out of the den with little trouble. The tall tom flicked his tail as he approached the group, following the scent of his mate and standing beside him. "Whoever the cat is, they're the one mouth we shouldn't be feeding this leaf-bare." he heard the conversation when he approached. Who could be so cruel? Even he wouldn't kill one of his clanmates in order to survive leaf-bare.

Having been awake for the majority of the morning, Palestar was holed up in his den as per usual. Despite being a leader, he was somewhat distant with his clanmates most of the time, but he couldn't ignore the commotion going on outside of his den. Ears perked and twitching with interest, he slowly padded out in the morning sun, eyes squinting as they adjusted. Jumping down into the clearing, he made his way over to the gathered cats, "What's going on here?" Noticing that most gazes were on Rimepaw, the leader figured something must have happened to her, "Rimepaw?" He questioned, looking at her expectantly.

Darkpaw frowned when Perchfeather didn't answer. "Guess he's out searching for herbs," he murmured to himself, before heading back to the crowd. Noticing Palestar had joined, the apprentice blinked and glanced at Rimepaw encouragingly. "We need to get rid of whoever did this," he murmured.

Lilypaw looked around at her clanmates nervously, not wanting to believe that one of them could have tried to kill her sister. Surely, Rimepaw wasn't lying, but the thought of a murderer in the clan terrified her more than she was willing to admit. "What if it was just an accident?" she suggested, her voice wavering with fear despite the optimistic words. One look at her sister's shellshocked eyes, however, told her that this was no mistake. Forced to imagine the unimaginable, Lilypaw narrowed her eyes, looking skeptically at the cats around them. She pressed her side to Rimepaw's, determined to stand by her.

Rimepaw leaned into Lilypaw, blinking up at Palestar. She took a deep breath and recounted again.

“I went out at night to sit in camp a-and they... offered to walk w-with me. As we walked, w-we spoke. Normally. Then they said that we needed less mouths to feed and... a-and they p-pushed me onto the Thunderpath.”

Rimepaw wanted to get away from everyone, curl up and sleep. But if she slept, whoever tried to kill her might just come and finish the job while she slept.
She buried her face in Lilypaw’s fur and tried to block out the voices.
