the breeze was strong and frighteningly cold on that fateful leaf-fall night.
everyone was sound asleep. suddenly, a cat awoke, feeling a bit
different than normal. they approached one of their fellow
clanmates - they couldn't see who, but it didn't matter at that point.
they just wanted blood. it w
"come with me." a near-silent whisper in her ear. just loud enough
to wake her up. she got up groggily. a
"what? why are you-' s
they shushed her, the sound hissing through their teeth strangely. "it
doesn't matter. just follow me."
she shook her head and started to turn, but the cat quickly added,
"please." in a desperate tone.
seeing that the situation seemed dire, she got up and followed them out
of camp. jus
"so, why'd you bring me here?" she asked as they had gotten fairly deep into
thunderclan territory, with no sound between them but their feet crunching
through the fallen leaves. t
"i just wanted to show you something."
"well, what is it?" ch
"this." a
they leapt up suddenly and landed on the other cat's back, making her fall
to the ground and knocking the air out of her lungs. she looked up at them
in shock as she desperately tried to regain her strength and get back on her
feet. feeling her start to struggle underneath them, they stuck out their
claws suddenly and dug them deep into her shoulders. she gasped in pain
and rasped "why...?"
the cat shook their head and leaned down to whisper in her ear. "shh. dont
fight it. it wont take long."
they tilted their head ever so slightly and lunged forward, sinking their teeth
into her neck. the blood dripped thick and warm down their chin. they
stayed their, fangs deep in her neck until they felt the blood stop trickling
into their mouth and her body grow limp. finally, they released and got up,
licking the last bits of blood from their lips. nc
they stared at the two parallel holes punctured in her neck that stained her
white fur red with a mix of fear and pride, simultaneously going did i just
do that? and i just did that! e
they shook their head. it didn't matter now. it had been done. they began
the trek back to camp, dragging the fresh corpse with them. they wanted
their clan to know. ,
as they walked through the camp entrance, they were relieved to see that
the cat guarding the entrance had fallen asleep. less witnesses to deal with.
as if on queue, a cat let out a choked, terrified screech. the killer looked up
and saw an apprentice in the dirtplace, clearly traumatized at the sight of
her dead clanmate. making matters worse, the killer realized, their victim
was the apprentice's older sister. i pro
they had to kill her. they knew she would wake the whole clan up and blab
to everyone and get them in trouble. plus, they'd be putting her out of her
misery, right? they wouldn't want to live with the memory of someone close
to them being dragged into camp, limp and bloody. m
theyd made their decision. theyd prefer not to do it in the dirtplace, but
they really had no other options. they let go of the corpse and leapt forward,
catching the apprentice by her scruff. they turned her head around forcefully
and dug their fangs into her neck, quickly sucking the blood from her body.
they picked her up by the scruff again and tossed her limp body on top of her
sister's. i
as the moon fell out of view and the sun barely began to peek over the horizon,
they quickly returned to normal and went back to their nest to contemplate
what had happened. se
and there they lay when the cats awoke in the morning. two limp, lifeless
bodies piled on top of each other, with identical puncture wounds in their necks.

lavenderscent and rosepaw were dead.

foxbite was usually up fairly early, and he made sure once he was awake that he would stay awake. he had promised rosepaw that they would do battle training today. he was excited to see how she was coming along, he loved having an apprentice. the red tom rose from his nest, stretching his legs before making a bee-line for the apprentices den, he peeked his head in to find the she-cats nest empty. he frowned slightly, perhaps she had been so excited that she'd gotten up early? he turned out of the den and the metallic scent of blood overwhelmed him. lately, most cats had been suspicious, claiming that the dark-forest was stronger this leaf-fall. he had rolled his eyes. as he scanned the camp, his gaze landed on two bodies, piled on top of each other like prey. he froze for a minute in horror, recognizing the cream pelt of his dear apprentice, and below the white body of lavenderscent. "no, no, no.." he cried loudly, rushing forward to the bodies. as he came closer, he pulled the two slightly apart from each other. "rosepaw." his poor apprentice, killed, murdered..

kaisley awoke to yells, her fur standing on end from being startled. a religious cat, she believed the dark forest rumors, so she was more spooked than she felt she should have been. hesitating for a moment, she pondered, should i stay in my next where it's warm and safe, or go investigate? eventually, her curiosity got the better of her and she padded out into the cold atmosphere.

seeing foxbite huddling by the two corpses, kaisley let out a cry of sheer terror. "what in the name of-" she stopped herself, realizing there was no adopted heaven she could call praise to that would bring back lavenderscent and rosepaw. "somebody!" she yowled, "somebody, there's been a tragedy!"

Brownfoot jolted awake to the sound of a clan mate screaming for help. He didn't expect this to be his waking call for today but it was. Getting up from his nest he thought about the rumors about the dark forest and their 'curse' going on. But he doubted that was true. It was like something you would tell the apprentices on a dark 'spooky' night. But even though he didn't think it was true, the thought of it still kept him up at night. Just the sound of the dark forest coming back STRONGER made him feel unsafe, and just mentioning it always sent a chill down his spine.

Brownfoot stretched, his legs shook violently as he got ready to step outside. But when he did, The smell of blood immediately tore through the fresh air catching him off guard. The smell was so disturbing and shocking. Just something about how strong and fresh it smelled was horrible. It made him sick thinking about what the source could be. He knew it wasn't the smell of pray, it was too strong but he refused to think of anything else it could be.

Finally, he began to move his ears folding back slightly. Brownfoot's tail puffed up slightly as he approached the two cats. As he got closer, the smell of blood got stronger and stronger as he soon was close enough to see the violent scene."N-n-n-no. No. Uhhh." Thats all he was able to say as his brain processed what was there right before his eyes.

Jackdawflight grumbled to himself at the commotion coming from outside, putting a paw over his face at first and trying to go back to sleep. First decent night of sleep he had gotten in a few weeks at this point, and now it was too noisy to enjoy it. He'd never admit it, but with all the talk of the Dark Forest rising again stronger than before and leaf bare fast approaching, he lost too many nights staying up and watching the entrance to the den, even if he tried to convince himself they were just rumors. Of course, he didn't doubt that the Dark Forest existed, he just hadn't thought about the possibility of them rising again. His pelt twitched at the thought, and against his better judgement he decided to get up and take a peek at what all the commotion was about.

More howls drew his attention, and Jackdawflight only had to look up to find their source. He could smell blood drifting in his direction, the way it pointed him directing his eyes at a small crowd of cats, all with a look of shock or fright on their faces. He kept his eyes away from the dirtplace they surrounded, trying to calm the anxious twitch in his pelt. Were he still an apprentice, now would be a good time to go and get his mentor, he figured, but he was a warrior now. A warrior wouldn't lock up like this! But, these were also warriors, and...

He continued to keep his distance, ears folded back and licking his chest nervously.

the molly dared not step closer, almost as if some horrific, black creature from the dark forest were to come up from behind the dirtplace and attack them if she were to approach any further. are we even safe in this clan anymore? she thought to herself with a shudder, tail tip flicking back and forth in an uncomfortable fashion. "no..." was all she could mutter.

foxbite laid still by his apprentice, as more cats came out he felt his body fill with rage. "who did this?" his gaze narrowed as he looked to each of his clanmates with accusing glares. grief. "where's coalstar? harrierheart?" he added, "we need to- do something about this. my apprentice and a warrior are dead!" foxbite turned back to the two bodies, sadness clouding his gaze once more. he didn't want to address it, but perhaps it wasn't a thunderclan cat. was the dark forest rising again?

duskstrike awoke with a gigantic yawn as she stood up to arch her back and stretch her limbs. she noticed skyheart still asleep near her, so she did her best to stay quiet as she exited the den to see what the commotion was about outside. she froze when she saw two furry lumps in the clearing. her limbs planted themselfs into the dusty earth below her paws as her mind processed the scene. she hoped that if she blinked hard enough, or if she caused herself minor pain, she'd wake up from this nightmare beside skyheart and lavenderfrost and rosepaw would still be breathing. but it didnt work. she was trapped in reality.

Darkpaw groaned as he awoke, hearing the commotion. Glancing over at the nests in the apprentice den, he noticed Rosepaw's nest was empty. Getting to his paws, he let out a yawn, before realizing he smelled the tang of blood. "Oh no," he murmured, glancing over to the crowd of cats around the bodies of Lavenderscent and Rosepaw. "What happened?" he asked, ears flicking.

Coalstar shook himself awake and sleepily dragged himself into the clearing. He blinked his single eye and rubbed it with his paw when he saw the bodies. Surely he must have something in it? But no, they were still there, and he could only stand with his jaw dropped in shock...
He cleared his head. He turned to Foxbite, seeing the warrior was agitated. "Would you like to gather a few others and have these poor souls buried? I know you cared a lot for your apprentice..." He knew he'd have to make a statement shortly. But above this in priority was getting cats moving and temporarily distracted from the horrors before them. He knew from experience the dangers that could arise should the whole clan stop for a tragedy- starvation, predators... Having these bodies buried was the first step.
