"Good," Blackmist nodded approvingly. "Now go and try it over there by that stream. You should be able to find a rabbit and a few mice to try it on." He swished his tail in the direction where his apprentice should go. "I'll go hunting while your at it."

Ebonypaw nodded and padded away, sniffing the air for any traces of prey. Suddenly, she smelled the fox scent from earlier, but it was fresher and much stronger. Ebonypaw saw a flash of red and froze. Was the fox stalking her?

Blackmist went near the river where Ravenmoon and Moontail should be hunting.

Ebonypaw heard a snarl and whirled around just as the fox leaped at her, knocking her off her paws. She screeched in terror.

Blackmist bolted as soon as he heard snarling and a screech from Ebonypaw. Arriving in the clearing, he saw that the clearing was small and dotted with a few bushes. He scrambled up the nearest tree to a low hanging branch that was right above the fox.

Ravenmoon heard Ebonypaw's cry and looked at Moontail with wide eyes. "Come on!" She said, racing towards the noise.

Ebonypaw lashed out with her claws, trying to defend herself, but the fox was too strong. The fox sank its teeth into her scruff as she struggled helplessly.

Blackmist leaped onto the fox's back and bowled it over off of Ebonypaw. He wrestled with the fox, the fox was young though so it was only slightly bigger than him, and clearly stupid.

Ebonypaw felt the fox's teeth leave her and rolled away from it. She crouched, ready to pounce when it came a little closer.

Ravenmoon leaped into the clearing and flex at the fox, hissing fiercely. She saw a glimmer of fear flicker in its eyes and grinned in satisfaction as she raked her claws across its muzzle.
