waterpaw left the apprentice den to go get a bite to eat. though... something felt off. everyone seemed on edge for some reason. not my problem, she thought, shrugging. grabbing a particularly plump vole, she lied down and began to eat ravenously.

sorrelwhisper looked up happily as apricotpaw joined the group, and she gave her daughter a small purr of greeting. "good morning, apricotpaw! is your brother up too?" she asked, glancing behind the young apprentice in search of the brown and white tom. rooksea's absence had gotten her rather anxious, and she suddenly felt the need to know where all of her kits were. she eased slightly when she spotted her younger son near the entrance to the apprentices' den, and she took note of halfleap over by stormheart and ebonypaw.
turning her attention back to apricotpaw, she smiled and meowed, "you up for a bit of training today?" she still had an uncomfortable feeling in her stomach about rooksea, but perhaps training with apricotpaw would make her forget about that. besides, the deputy was probably fine, right? just off doing her own thing; that's what sorrelwhisper made herself think.
