Bramblestar nodded to the cats offering to go hunting. "Alright. Ripplefrost, Yellowgaze, and Emeraldeye can go hunting," the she-cat mewed, "and Petaltuft can choose who he would like to assist him on a border patrol. Breezefire can join either." She glanced to the deputy, who hadn't had the chance to say much. She let out a soft sigh and glanced around, noticing someone was missing. Icetalon was usually an early riser- and she was not a part of the group. "Both you groups keep an eye out for Icetalon, I haven't seen her this morning," she instructed. With a flick her tail, the leader dismissed the small crowd.

Goldenwave watched the warriors of the clan gather for morning patrols and none of them seemed at all interested in him whatsoever. He missed not being asked to join. Alright, I guess I'll just find out how the water is myself. After breakfast of course. Goldenwave settled down in a sunny spot to groom himself. He was patient enough to wait for the hunting patrol to come back with something fresh and tasty to eat. For now he'd just relax, well as much as he could. He really did have too much energy for his old body. Skywhisper kept telling him he was going to sprain something, again. To bad there weren't any kits in the clan to entertain him.

FireFeather woke up with a stretch. He had wanted to get up early in the morning so he could take SalmonPaw on a dawn patrol, but when he looked up he sighed. No, it definitely wasn’t dawn. Perhaps just some normal hunting would do nicely today.
He walked out into the clearing, letting a patch of brambles scratch his back as he stretched right at the enterance of the warrior den. He gazed about the clearing, but seemed to notice that SalmonPaw, too, wouldn’t have been awake so early. Not that FireFeather was ever actually awake when he was called from his nest so late. Rather, he saw his littermate LittleFlame. She had always been more of an earlier riser than he, even if she didn’t like it.
FireFeather noticed that BrambleStar had just organized patrols, which meant until SalmonPaw was up, he was kind of stuck. That was okay though.
He noticed GoldenWave sitting by himself in the sun, which was fitting for an elder. He padded up slowly and sat down next to the old Tom.
“GoldenWave, how are you this morning?”

A bit disappointed he wouldn't get to go hunting, Sagenose turned to Petaltuft and dipped his head. "Your orders, then, Petaltuft?" he asked with a twitch of his whiskers. "Who will be going on the border patrol?" He decided he wouldn't be all too upset if he didn't get to go at dawn. He'd just join the sunhigh patrol later if he didn't get to go out early.

Goldenwave smiled to Firefeather as the warrior approached. "Good morning to you as well. I’m about as good as normal. You must not be going on patrol I suppose." Goldenwave was glad to have someone to chat with, even if it was just smalltalk. Some cats really liked their solitude, but Goldenwave had never been one of them.

Skywhisper

The medicine cat woke up to see cats gathering around the entrance.

Probably morning patrols, she guessed, unable to hear the conversations happening between the cats. She sighed, Why must I be deaf? I guess it’s not as bad as being blind, but it doesn’t mean I wish that I was. Why has Starclan punished me already? What have I done wrong since birth?

She walked out of the den in effort to leave the thoughts behind. Hoping not to interrupt any conversation, she spoke, “If I’m correct, you are all going out. If Breezefire is going with a split patrol, may I go with the other?”

Salmonpaw woke up and exited her den, yawning. She realized she must have woken up late and glanced around the clearing, hoping she hadn't missed the dawn patrol. She noticed a group by the entrance and trotted up to them, figuring they were still deciding who would go.

The sounds of his clanmates filtering from their dens never ceased to nearly overwhelm him, voices and movements shuffling around. But he'd grown to enjoy the sound, letting it make up for his lack of vision. "I will be leading a border patrol. Sagenose, take Ripplefrost and Littleflame on a hunting patrol with you. Breezefire, you may attend them if you'd like." Though he couldn't make eye contact, the blind black tom nodded to each cat as he spoke. "The rest of you, if you're on your paws you're coming on a border patrol." He paused, never certain how I speak with Skywhisper - their... quirks made it a bit hard to communicate. Turning to the dead medicine cat, he spoke carefully in her direction. "If you wish to join a patrol, you can tag along with mine or with Breezefire to go hunting, I leave the choice to you."

He tipped his head in confusion, then sighed. "Ripplefrost is already on a separate hunting patrol, though. Should I bring Littleflame and join them?" he wondered, glancing over at the group of three who had been assigned to hunting a few moments before.

The tom nodded at Bramblestar, already being on his feet and ready to start the hunting patrol. He wasn't going to lead the patrol, but he made short eye contact with the other cats, Emeraldeye, and Ripplefrost, to recognize that he was ready when they were.
