Mudstar grimaced, the Clan would grieve for Redkit for a long time. But it would be her family that would hold this death heavy in their hearts for many moons to come. She stood up a bit straighter, in her lifetime Mudstar had witnessed many deaths and with time knew that as a leader she had come to terms that death would be common thing to see in her nine lifetimes. She opened her mouth ready to say that their kit had died, but was stopped when Dawnflower had shoved her aside to stand in front of both parents. Mudstar decided to let Dawnflower tell both cats, the ginger tabby had always felt like a mother to all the kits anyway and at this point Mudstar couldn't stop her.

Dawnflower's ears were flattened and her tail drooped to the ground, she looked up at both Nightfang and Fangtail with sad eyes. It would hard for her to say this, every kit's death affected her like they would to the actual kit's mother and she could feel her own heart breaking as she attempted to say each word, "Softkit, Clawkit, and Redkit. T-they..." she gulped and continued. "They made their way out of camp without anyone noticing and met a fox. Three kits fought it off, but Redkit-" She shut her eyes, remembering Redkit's limp body as it was carried into camp. "She's gone, I'm so sorry." She said, her voice a breathless whisper.
