Beepaw didn't stray too far from Owlpaw's side, padding behind her just a few mousetails away. He gave her a sympathetic look at the mention of Cranekit's death, and he nodded, understanding the pain she felt. "I understand. I've been wary to go out of camp, and even though I normally like training, I've been refusing to go out with Aspenfang. I'm... Not too sure about her. If I'm honest, I would've preferred Harrierheart as a mentor." He mewled a small laugh, trying to lighten the mood as best as possible.

Owlpaw flicked her ear, did Beepaw think that Aspenfang had killed Cranekit? She was suspicious after all, but wasn't so sure if they should be placing blame on their own clanmates. "I'm glad to have Tigerfang, he's a good mentor." Feeling the tickling of grass under her paws Owlpaw couldn't help but offer a small smile.

A laugh rose from the short, stumpy apprentice and he bounced forward as well as his chubby body would carry him, hopping up to a nearby bush before pausing, and scenting the air for prey. He caught wind of a young vole, and he crouched down, following the scent silently until said vole was in sight. He grinned, waiting for the right moment, until it got close enough to him, before jumping on it and killing it with a swift bite. "Owlpaw! Owlpaw, I caught a vole!" He cheered, voice muffled by the dead creature within his jaws.

xxEven though it was almost a moon later, Harrierheart could tell the death of Cranekit was still on the minds of his clanmates. Truth be told, it remained in the back of his, too. The sadness had turned to a kind of numbness that only death could bring. He may not have been especially close to Cranekit, but clanmates held a unique place in a cat’s heart.

xxHarrierheart sat in a sunny patch of the camp clearing, feeling the sun start to warm his fur. His mind drifted to Cranekit again as he saw someone enter the nursery. Deathberries were never an accident. Cranekit had been in camp that day, and outside of the medicine den, there were no places in camp that deathberries could have been. Harrierheart had brought that point up earlier, but at the time grief was the main topic in ThunderClan's mind. At the same time, what cat had it in them to kill a kit, the future of ThunderClan? Was it perhaps to get back at Otteriris for something? Or had someone sought to destroy ThunderClan's future?

It was good to hear Beepaw laugh, Owlpaw hadn't heard a cat laugh since Cranekit's death. Or at least if she could remember. "Good job!" Owlpaw purred, almost like a proud mentor. "That's a good one too." The apprentice said, gesturing to the size of the rodent. Maybe things would in fact get back to normal... Owlpaw dared to think. Maybe Cranekit's death was really just an accident and life would somehow go back to how it was.

Beepaw glowed under the praise, and shyed back a bit, dropping the vole in front of Owlpaw's paws. "You can take it back to camp and get the credit if you want. I don't mind. I-I'd rather not get anymore praise than necessary." He chuckled nervously, scraping his paws at the dirt of the forest floor, his ears twitching. "We should find some more prey to bring back to camp. I don't think it'd be good to bring back only one piece." He mewled quietly, sitting down next to the vole to wait for Owlpaw's response.
