Cinder chuckles. "Don't hold your breath." She meows, bounding away. She raises her muzzle, scenting the air for prey. The scent of a mouse soon drifts towards her and she immediately crouches. Silently, she stalks the mouse, getting closer each step. The shecat freezes, just a foxtail away. Cinder pounces, narrowly missing the mouse. It scurries away but she slams a paw down on its tail, preventing it from escaping. She kills he mouse before immediately digging in, tearing into it hungrily.

Deciding any action was better than being lazy, the sand colored cat made his way outside camp and headed for the river. Part of the water ran fairly close to camp, anyone could hear the rushing sound in the dead of night. He picked up the apprentice's scent heading further upstream, so he was confident he could find some peace in fishing. The sun hit his back as he broke through the cover of the trees and met the open area of grass before the shore. Skysong was virtually silent and downwind, so he didn't notice the she-cat nearby.

Padding into camp, the tom wasn't surprised to see one of the older apprentices lingering right beside the entrance. The white tom chuckles slightly, holding his jay firmly between his teeth. "Waiting for a mouse to wander in?" He'd only been in the apprentice den three moons ago, he knew all about being anxious for anything to happen. He could recall when she was first made an apprentice, back then there was too much to do between training and cleaning moss.

Skysong
Skysong opened her eyes at the sound of soft pawsteps, only to see Lichenstorm over by the river. He didnt look like he was there seeking company, so she decided to stay quiet not interrupt him, but she didnt move from her spot, her blue eyes curiously following the tom's movement.

Leopardpaw
Leopardpaw almost jumped at Piketail's voice behind her. When she turned, slightly embarassed at her own eagerness, she lowered her gaze to the ground. But then, something rebellious inside her reminded her that this warrior was not that much older than her and she raised her eyes to mmet his, hers shining with mischief. "No, because no mouse is suicidal enough to get near me."

Sunsplash
Sunsplash headed back into the forest, restless now that he was fully awake. He decided to check the borders and was almost done with his short patrol when a stranger scent suddenly hit his nose. Silently he followed it until he found a she-cat, obviously not of the clan, hunting on the territory. He watched her kill the mouse, but since he wasnt in the mood for a fight, he just meowed, "Messy catch, that one."

He crouches beside the river, green eyes darting to every movement in the water until he spots a decent sized minnow. Enough to keep a warrior's belly quiet after a long day; especially to those who had apprentices to keep in line. One paw moves up slowly, tucking into his chest before his claws rake the surface and pull out the silvery-green fish. Biting it's spine, the fish goes limp. "Too easy..."

His ears flick, knowing her bright blue eyes only hid darker intentions sheltered in her mind. No apprentice of her age was innocent, but that was no reason to think she might be looking for trouble or a way to talk him into any training. "Hovering like a shadow, they might not even notice you there at all." Dropping his prey into the fresh kill pile, licking his lips. "The forest is just swarming with prey, I wouldn't be surprised if they got pushed into camp looking for food." His tone half excited to eat this well after a harsh leaf-bare.

Skysong
Skysong watched as Lichenstorm caught the fish, having to admit that it was a very clean catch even though he didnt seem that proud of it. Suddenly she felt like she was intuding and she got up as quietly as she could, but when she jumped off of the rock, about to leave, she landed on a couple of old, dry leaves that made a lot of noise as they crumpled into dust under her paws.

Leopardpaw frowned at the thought of prey right in the camp. "That would make it too easy. Where's the fun in having everything right under your nose ?" She said, tilting her head slightly to one side. She liked the idea of enough prey for everycat, but there should still remain some excitement in the hunt itself in her opinion.

Turning quickly to face whatever might come his way, the tom relaxes a bit when he sees it's Skysong. The fur on his tail and back slowly rest back down against his skin, snorting. "Oh, it's just you. Out enjoying the sun I'd imagine." If it hadn't been a fox or badger, it could have very well been Bluewhisker out to give him an earful about leaving camp alone and without telling anybody he was gone.

His bright smile didn't fade, shrugging slightly. "I'm just thinking it's the perfect season for your warrior assessment, it won't be hard to prove your hunting skills when prey is flooding the forest. Not to mention, if there's any good fights you could also prove yourself that way." Predators always followed the prey, no doubt in his mind this season would have a few fox attacks.

Skysong
Skysong didnt know what to assume from his tone, but she smiled and shrugged, "Yeah, just boring old me. Bet you could have imagined a more interesting encounter." Her eyes spakled from the good mood she was in and she sat down not far away from Lichenstorm, deciding that if he hinted that he wanted to be left alone, she would leave and let him enjoy the peace and quiet.

Leopardpaw immediately perked up at the mention of her warrior assessment going smoothly and her eyes shone brightly. "That would be awesome. I hope they dont take too long before the assessment." She said, remembering that some of her ex-denmates that were not much older than her were already warriors. She remebered even when Piketail had been one of the apprentices, it wasnt that long ago.

"Boring is fine, it's bossy that bothers me." Seeing as she was by the rocks when he spotted her, the sand colored tom shrugged slightly. "Don't mind me, if you want to continue sunning it's all the same to me. One more fish and maybe a mouse and I'll be out of your fur." Often one to break the peace when it came to subtle enjoyment, he didn't like lazy when there was work to be done but frankly today offered no labor.

He knew her energy would perk at the thought of being a warrior, the freedom was great in his opinion. "You and Heatherpaw both are jumping out of your fur. Being a warrior isn't all it's up to be though, if all the apprentices become warriors before some kits are born, we'll be stuck doing the bedding." He half jokes, not sure how many cats were expecting kits or even had crushes; he sure wasn't attracted to anyone.

Skysong looked over at the river full of shimmering, scaly bodies of fish. "Actually, mind if I join you ? Might as well make myself useful since I'm here." She said, turning her gaze to Lichenstorm. She didn't want to look like she was too lazy to hunt for the clan and would rather lie around doing nothing.

Leopardpaw let out a mrrow of laughter, "Well you're the one to talk. You weren't exactly indifferent about becoming a warrior either." She curled her tail around her front paws, her bright smile still on her face.
