Short Description— Quailkit is a tawny, tan with darker stripes, tom with two, gentle amber eyes. He can often be found, shaking, hiding, or squeaking, in constant fear that something horrible is going to happen. His anxiety is always getting the better of him, and he is usually left out of most games that his siblings play for this reason. He is also terrified of becoming a warrior, and is 5 moons old, so he will eventually have to, but avoids the older warriors most of the time, intimidated by their strength and agility in battle. Apart from his anxiety, Quailkit is a generally caring cat. He is polite, but very reserved, so most cats find it rude when he doesn't make much conversation with them. Quailkit likes to collect feathers, and has his own small collection of them in the back corner of the nursery. Quailkit also has a special bond with Moonpaw, and he hangs out with him all the time.

hello all! just a quick reminder that this is a bird themed round and all names should either be types of birds or things relating to them.
there's more to this round than just the bird theme, though. the killer has a curse which causes them to transform into a mutant, griffin-like creature, somewhat like a cat but bigger and more muscular, with a beak, talons, and a feathered tail each night as the moon reaches its peak. if they are to injure anyone during this time, they will receive the 'infection', and permanently become similar (though less powerful) bird-cat creatures. that is this version's round of being killed. they will not be allowed back into the camp, as they are much more primal and instinctive, and would infect any cat in sight. they remain out in thunderclan territory, and can still be roleplayed, though they have very limited communication and are far less intelligent.

THUNDER CLAN

Wind whipped around my ears and through my fur. I squinted my eyes shut, my heart thumping loudly in my chest. I’ll get through this. I’ve done it before. Nothing bad has ever happened because of it. I thought, but I couldn’t help the tiny voice in the back of my head that added the word yet. I shook my head and furrowed my brow in anger. I tilted my head up and glared at the stars, as though this was their fault, though whatever had caused this was likely about as far from them as you could get. You're not wrong…

The cacophony of wind and my own heartbeat suddenly faded out to near silence, just in time for me to hear soft footsteps approaching me from behind. I whipped around frantically. I had to warn them. Whoever it was. Don’t. Let me have this one.

A small, fluffy, lilac-point cat now faced me. Her sky blue eyes were large and curious. Innocent. An easy target.
She just barely started to form a word before I cut in.

“Go.”
“Wh-”
“Just leave. Please. I don’t want to hurt you.” But I do…
“What?”
“I don’t have time to explain, just, please. Go.” my voice started to grow desperate, and tears burned at the corners of my eyes. Tears? Weak.
“I don’t understand, I-” she had taken a few tentative steps away, but it was too late. I let out a howl of pain as I felt it begin. Finally…

Muscles rippled under my pelt, shifting and changing. The skin on my face and legs pushed back and my very bones reshaped themselves into a sharp beak and fierce talons. Tears streamed down my face, and my breathing was heavy and ragged. And this wasn’t even the worst part. Murderous pain down my shoulders and back, as though they were being ripped wide open, as wings sprouted out of them. Adrenaline began pumping through my whole body, masking a bit of the pain and making me feel at least vaguely less weak and exhausted. Then my eyes glossed over and I felt my control slip away.

I flexed my talons and rolled my shoulders. Finally, I was back in power. I gave a sharp-toothed grin. I glanced around, taking in my surroundings with my extremely sharp eyesight. Finally, I locked eyes on my prey. A tiny, shivering, wide-eyed cat. Weak. Scrawny. Small. But she’d do.
Please don’t hurt her.
I jumped toward her, spreading my wings and gaining air for a moment before landing right above her. She sat, terrified, between my muscular forelegs, obscured by my long shadow. I stared a moment longer, reveling in anticipation, before finally bending down and easily biting down on her neck. It gave a satisfying snap beneath my powerful jaws. I tossed her limp body aside and looked up. I closed my eyes peacefully, letting the wind ruffle my feathers and fur and relished in the thrill of the kill. As I began to turn back, despite the pain of transformation, I felt excited. This won’t be the last time.
What have I done?


Two cats tore through the forest, running frantically toward the ThunderClan camp. They burst through the entrance, catching the attention of Rooksea, who was guarding the camp. The two of them, speaking over each other, tripping over their own words, and generally struggling to form coherent sentences, were eventually able to communicate the idea that an unidentifiable cat had become a terrifying half-cat-half-bird creature and killed Wrenpaw.
But is she really dead?

Swiftsong awoke with a wide yawn, gaze bleary and pelt warmed by the sleeping bodies all around her. She didn't dare stretch out her paws in fear of waking the three lovely kits sleeping at her side. She guessed from how small their nests had become in comparison that they wouldn't be able to stay her kits for much longer. The thought frightened her; after the ideal from last night, were her kits truly ready to face the world? The memory of the previous night's events hit her all at once. She shivered, remembering the two cats' shrieks of terror. At least she had most of her family safe in the nursery: her kits, her mother, and her mother's youngest son. "Good morning, little ones," Swiftsong murmured to the sleeping kits, touching her nose to Sparrowkit's forehead.

finchpaw let out a small yawn and rolled out of her nest. She took her time to groom her fur, anxious to start training even though she wished for a few moments of shut eye. She looked at all the male apprentices as the they slept, why were all her denmates besides wrenpaw dudes? Anyways, where was wrenpaw, her nest was empty. Oh well, lovebird was probably planning something for finchhpaw’s denmate. Stretching out her limbs, the black molly prepared herself for the day and walked straight into the Thunderclan clearing.

Moonpaw awoke blearily at the sound of someone passing nearby, eyes fluttering in the sudden light pouring into the den. He shook his head, as though that would shake away the sleep clogging his mind and eyes, until his vision no longer blurred in the morning rays. A quick glance around the den revealed that both Finchpaw and Wrenpaw had already left for the morning. He frowned. Although the den was already filled with light, it was still extremely early in the morning. He padded towards the den's entrance, feeling a pang of something almost like shame. If Finchpaw and Wrenpaw were up so early to start training, shouldn't he be too? He didn't want to be disappointing Magpieflight -- was that Finchpaw over there? He had come to the end of the den as he thought, and was now quite sure that it was indeed her walking through the center of camp An idea sprung into his mind. Maybe he, Finchpaw, and Wrenpaw could all train together! He didn't know where Wrenpaw was, but he was sure they would be able to find her soon enough. "Good morning, Finchpaw," he murmurred as he dashed over to her side. "Where are you off to?"

Flypaw had been awake in his nest for a while, but hadn't actually gotten up yet. He didn't like getting up before everyone else, because there was never anyone to talk to. However, soon he saw Finchpaw and Moonpaw get up and leave the den, and Wrenpaw was gone, too. This must've meant that there'd be cats to interact with! He happily got up, and wandered cheerfully out the den. He noticed Finchpaw and Moonpaw over somewhere in the clearing of camp, and bounded over to them. "Hi, guys!" he greeted enthusiastically. "How are you doing?"

Hawkmire woke up slowly. Getting to her paws, the caliby looked around to spot her girlfriend. It didn't seem like she'd awoken yet. She padded forward to the entrance and peered out. Yep, no girlfriend in sight. She flicked her ear, mildly annoyed that the deputy wasn't awake before her.

finchpaw turned her attention to moonpaw as he approached. “oh good morning!” She meowed, “I’m just looking for harrierheart, but I doubt you’ve seen him...” She meowed with a chuckle at the end. Finchpaw’s ears pricked as Flypaw joined them. “Hi flypaw!” She meowed.
