Just about to pick the prey the warrior heard his name said. He lifted his head from being lowered to take a closer look at the prey. "Oh, hello, Duststar." He greeted and glanced down at the pile then back at his leader. "Not really. I'm just bring the queens something to eat, that's about it."

"Alright." Jaguarpaw replied, settling down just a bit. He turned his gaze to Spottedpelt, smirking a bit, but said nothing. Luckily, he was paying close attention to the move being demonstrated so it shouldn't be too hard to master after a few tries.

Kestreldawn tilted her head lightly at her apprentice's response. Hmm, I guess confidence is something we could work on, she thought to herself. She appreciated his self-awareness and humility, but from the few moons she had worked with him, he wasn't as terrible at stalking as he made it seem. As for battle, any lack of proficiency on Vinepaw's part would likely be her fault─she had never been that great at fighting herself. Anyhow, she wasn't worried. There was plenty of time to get accustomed to the new skills. "That sounds like a plan! Everything needs a little fine-tuning now and again," she assured him. "Ready to go?"

"I say sure thing!" he eagerly exclaimed, shooting to his feet. "Where are we going?" While he waited for directions, his mind raced through all the techniques they had studied, separating the ones he was good at from the ones he struggled with. Front paw blows and slashes; I can do those, he mused, envisioning the movement. His strength and bulky frame lent well to attacks that employed brute force, and not those that required speed and agility, such as... Half turn belly rakes, ducks and twists. A sigh escaped his muzzle. His take on those was rather unreliable. What am I talking about? I can do them, he insisted to himself, shaking the doubt from his mind.

Amused by her question, Cedarsnow hums, pretending to think about it long and hard. While he does so, he rolls closer to her, throwing a paw on top of the kit and pinning her under his weight.

"Hmmm... I don't think I can let you come with me this time," he declines, sitting up, and twitching his whiskers, approving of her clear restlessness and longing to explore. "But when you're an apprentice, I'll make sure to bring you out on so many hunting and border patrols that your paws will fall off." His tone turns teasing, and his tail flicks her ears. "It shouldn't be long now. You're nearly six moons: Duskstar will have to give you a mentor to make sure you don't sneak off."

Acornkit’s eyes lit up as the tom pondered if she could go or not, she held onto his paw as he pinned her down. Her ears pinned down as she hears Cedarsnow tell her no. She rolls over and sits up, looking up at Cedarsnow, clearly pouting in front of the tom. “Well you know what,” The she-cat mewed. “One day, I’ll be just like Duskstar.” The kit stood up and raised her head, high and mighty, flicking her tail. “I’ll be a mighty leader!” She meows loudly, trying to seem tough. Acornkit purred, “And you’ll be my deputy! We’ll go on patrols together!”

Whiskers twitching, he bumps her, sending the kit stumbling. "Oh, I'm going to be your deputy, huh?" He taunts, crouching into a hunters pounce. "But you're so tiny! I could just step over you to the leadership!" He does get a flash of admiration, though, for the other cat. What a head-strong kit. He had no doubt in his mind that she would be leader one day: not even StarClan could stand in her path.

“Well yeah, why wouldn’t you be my deputy?” Acornkit asked, clearly being the innocent kit she is. She rolls on her back and reaches for the tom, batting at the air between Cedarsnow and her. Realizing the tom was in a pounce stance, she quickly got up and copied him. “And nahuh! I may be small but even the smallest things can give a good fight,” Acornkit wiggled her rump playfully, leaping towards the tom. Missing, she belly flops beside the tom and mews, embarrassed that she missed. “I definitely meant that,” She mewed once more.

The large tabby shook his fur out, a few leaves flying off of him as he did so. Glancing around the makeshift den of sticks and leaves and the like, he realized that he would have to go hunting today as he’d finished the last of his rabbit last night.

She nodded, still quite humored with that fact as she could picture it crystal clear. “I used to play this game called mossball, but I’m sure you two have heard of it.” She answered Slashkit, before carefully listening to Blinkkit and his questions. “No worries. And I’ll be sure to stop the game if it ever gets that far.” Evercloud spoke, feeling somewhat softened at the thought of a kit being worried that they could actively hurt her kits. She was almost sure that they wouldn’t be able to due to her thick pelt. “I haven’t really thought of any names for them. As for how many, I believe there will be three according to Dogface. But maybe when the times comes, you could help name them.” Keeping an eye on Acornkit, she almost couldn't believe she was lucky enough to have the little kit call her 'mama'.

She tilted her head, a soft frown on her face from their words. “In all fairness, I don't think my father ever expected for me to get this far either.” She said, noticing how their tone had taken on a saddened note, letting them continue. “It's alright.” Tinypaw attempted to comfort them, before curling her tail over her paws. "But life goes and it never stops. I don't think it's ever stopped." She murmured, pausing for a moment, before nudging them with her shoulder. "And I'm going to listen to you, even if you think I won't."

His tail swishes with amusement, and he gently swipes at her. "Of course you did," he agrees. "Freaking your enemies out is a great way to win a battle. Unnerve them, give them a chance to run from your mighty claws by missing your attack on purpose." His eyes are alight with his teasing, and he gets to his paws, stomping closer to her. "Of course, that won't work on enemies thrice your size," he growls, threatening to sit on her.
