Light Dawn emerged from the apprentice den, shaking her thick pelt out. Her pink maw gaped in a yawn befoe gazing around the clearing. Spotting a dark, scruffy tabby emerging from a den across the open ground, the molly purred and padded over to meet him. "Good morning, Lynx Heart. What are we doing today?" Light Dawn asked her mentor.

Dark Pine sat in his den, pressing leaves with his black paws and for better storage. He had gotten through half of the meager pile sitting beside him already, though he hasn't been up for too long. He really needed to go find more herbs today; there were only two juniper berries left, and his daisy leaves were all shriveled. Maybe some more mint? 'Hm..' Dark Pine continued his sorting, lost in thought.

Lynx Heart jumped up and stuttered, "I-I've been awake for hours!" He then looked back to see Light Dawn. "Oh, heh, it's just you. Well, I'm not quite sure yet. We might be going on patrol. We'll see."

Slate Fang nodded, "Stay here, I'll get them," the tom padded over to Lynx Heart and his apprentice, Light Dawn, "Okay, guys, we're going on a patrol to look around our new home."

Lynx Heart nodded. "Sure thing." He trotted over to where Glass Glaze was, and waited expectantly for his apprentice.

Glass Gaze recognized his steps - something she'd taught herself to do at a young age. "Hello, Lynx Heart."

Slate Fang's tail swished as he waited for Light Dawn once Lynx Fang padded over. He heard a familiar voice, "Slate Fang!" and sighed. "Hey, Flake Stream."

Flake Stream ran over to the departing patrol, "What are we doing? Can I come?"

Lynx Heart purred, "Hello, Glass Glaze."

Light Dawn's heart sank at the prospect of a border patrol. Anytime they were near the border, the fluffy apprentice was terrified she would see her mother; exiled for killing her own kit and Light Dawn's twin. Despite her heart residing now in her belly, the molly trailed her mentor across the snow covered clearing to speak with the older warriors.
