Applesong felt a sudden, sharp pain in her stomach. It took all her strength to remain quiet, despite her urge to yowl out her pain. It was only a few moments before she was too weak to even stand. Falling to the dirt floor with only a small grunt. Fear scent filled the den, as she realized the familiar pain. It's too soon! The queen thought frantically. She hadn't even had time to tell her mate. "Spiderstar!" Applesong called to her beloved mate, unable to hide the pain in her voice. Despite this, she seemed quite calm for a cat that has just started kitting. Though in truth, her reaction was just numbed by fear.

The she-cat with fur of shades of gray had been sitting more toward the entrance, her somewhat stiff leg stretched out a little, thinking exactly the same thing as the comment the tom made. Her ear flicked when she heard him, and Hailstorm glanced at him.
"It is..." she agreed, before standing up and stretching all her limbs rather than just her handicap back leg. Her eyes reflected some of the sun that escaped into the den as she looked at him again, and for a few moments was silent while still watching him, as though trying to decide whether or not to ask something.
"...I don't suppose you'd like to walk out of camp and maybe go fishing...?" Honestly, she was tired of just laying around, and though at one time she would have just gotten up and gone without asking anyone to go with her, well, she'd spent most of her life without very much relation to anyone, even in a friendly manner, and she had pretty much decided after being retired that she was going to spend the rest of her moons trying to make at least one or two friends, even if only her new den mates ended up being them. A mate was almost out of the question now, despite the silent hope she still had, but friendship should always be possible at any age.

Sleetpaw smiled, standing up and walking toward the entrance. "Yay!" He cheered quietly, stopping at the entrance. His fur was fluffed out like it usually was and his icy blue eyes were shining with delight. I'll do great, watch me do it well Grandfather!" The young apprentice purred. He had always thought his Grandfather was a StarClan cat... not a Dark Forest cat.

Moonshade's eyes fluttered open. Her hearing was extra sharp, despite her inability to focus on anything. The only thing she was focusing on was her own sadness. But she blinked in surprise, recognizing the worn-out voice from within the camp. She's here! She must have missed me coming in with Deathrage.. Before she could wait any longer, and before they sent warriors out to find an injured Moonshade that wasn't there, she let out a weak, but desperate yowl, "Su-Sunc- " she broke off, coughing again. But she didn't give up and strained her voice to call out, "Sunclaw! Sunclaw! I'm here!" her feeble, yet familiar meow echoed in the medicine cat den, trying to reach her.

Deathrage hushed her, "Shush, I'll go get her, rest," He said sofly, running out of the Medicine cat's den. Seeing Sunclaw instantly, "Sunclaw! Sunclaw!" I yowled, bounding over to her, and spoke quickly, "Moonshade is in the medicine cat's den, but is very wuonded, she's okay though, come on!" He said, running back in to stand next to Moonshade, and whispered sofly, "It's alright, she's coming."

"Be careful!" Shadpelt hissed as Foxkit, Steamkit, and Pinekit raced out of the nursery. Foxkit turned around and looked at his mother, "Shadepelt, remember? We're almost apprentices!" He meowed annoyingly. "Yes, ALMOST, that means you're not an apprentice yet, so, untill then, you will follow my comands, and be in the nursery when I say," She said, in a somewhat harsh, but soft tone. "But-" "No buts! You'll become an apprentice when it's time!" "OKay," Foxkit said, drooping his tail to the ground, and left the nursery.

Spiderstar pricked his ears when a familiar voice called his name. Applesong. Its too soon! he wasnt an expert on kits, but he knew this timing was wrong. Judging by the panic in his mate's voice he knew she wasnt calling for just anything. He bolted to the crowded nursery, passing Shadepelt's kits and nearly tripping over Flickerkit as she stomped out herself. He weaved through the entrance and crouched beside Applesong. "Im here," he breathed.

[ As if deserting me wasn't enough... ]

"Sure, that sounds nice," he answered, standing and stretching stiffly. "I can hardly remember the last time I left this blasted den." He ducked outside dragging his heavy paws and yawned.

Shadepelt pricked her ears towards the nursery entrance, just then, her voice rang in alarm, "Steamkit, Foxkit, Pinekit! Watch out!" She said in alarm. But luckily none of them tripped Spiderstar. "Oh thank heavens," She wispered to herself, starring at foxkit, "Foxkit, Steamkit, and PInekit, come here, you don't need to see this." Shadepelt said, as her kits came over, and she protectivly swished her unually long tail across her three kits' heads.

{When could Pinekit, Foxkit, and Steamkit become apprentices? They're pretty much old enough.}
