Dustkit relaxed a bit when her brother cuddled up next to her and pressed her face against his, a tiny purr rumbling in her own throat.
As Riverstripe was about to leave camp, he heard Blizzardclaw call his name and turned around to look at the deputy. Guess I'm going on patrol after all, he guessed, though the idea didn't excite him anymore. "Yes, Blizzardclaw?" he meowed once he'd come to stand in front of the deputy, giving a nod of acknowledgment to Cedartail.
(@Animals, the kits' eyes are actually already open! They usually only take a little over a week to open, but since all kits' eyes are blue at first, we can still have Sun and Cream wondering what color their eyes will be when they grow up.)
"Probably blue," Sunflare guessed. "You and I both have blue eyes, after all. But you never know. There are different shades of blue, too. I think yours are a little darker than mine...What would you say? Are mine light or dark?" He blinked at her lovingly.
Tigerblaze's tail flicked once. "I suppose that'd be fine," he gave in at last.
Splashfeather smiled. "Great! The rest of the patrol should be ready to go. Come on." With a swish of her tail, she padded over to where Elmshade was waiting. "Alright, I've got them! Are we ready to go?"

"I'm practically fully trained already," Darkpaw huffed. He didn't know what else he had to learn, but then again, if there were techniques he hadn't been taught yet, how would he know if Deertail had taught them to him or not? It wasn't that his mentor never trained him or even regularly skipped out on their training sessions--most days he made time for him. It was just that the ginger-and-white tom's apprentice never seemed to be his first priority. But regardless, Darkpaw trained himself almost every day anyway, to make up for any lost time. "I could spar with Daydream." The words had just left his mouth when he saw Deertail out of the corner of his eye and turned to face the tom. "Goldenrose has already agreed to take me out training with her and Wolfpaw," he told Deertail plainly, not betraying any emotion. "You can come if you want."
Littleflower bid goodbye to the others as she followed Mistflower out of the den. She nodded in agreement to her denmate's suggestion. "By the lake sounds good to me. We'll probably have to end up splitting up and spreading out anyway."
"Good." Southstar's gaze was warm as it rested on Streamspot and he nodded his thanks to Russetswirl before gently licking his deputy's head. "Just rest now. I'll come check on you later." When Russetswirl offered to arrange a border patrol, he pondered over it for a moment. He had been planning on leading a patrol himself and having the former medicine cat keep an eye on Streamspot, but he decided there was no reason why they couldn't do the opposite. It was probably best if he stayed at camp anyway, with his deputy down--and besides, it gave him a chance to spend some time with her, something he hardly ever got to do anymore, even if she was sleeping for most of it. "That'll be fine, thank you," he said to his friend. "I saw Frostpetal and Blazepaw outside before, looking like they wanted something to do, so maybe take one of them with you? Other than that, the choice is yours. Just make sure Daydream is around before you go, just in case Streamspot should need him."
Outside the Clan
Thunder let out an indignant cry as he was pulled off of his brother and began to fuss as he was placed back next to his mother's belly. Though it was warm and comfortable, his mood was now ruined and an upset mewl escaped his mouth.
