Bluepaw's heard Breezefire's cry. “Breezefire!" She yowled, dashing towards her
Mentor. “D-do you think Nightpaw's ok?" She whispered, fear tainting her normally cocky voice
"She was not in the apprentice's den when I woke up. I-I'm scared." She cried, her eyes pouring
Out tears.
❝Little do you know I'm trying to pick myself up piece by piece❞

"B- Bluepaw..." Breezefire's voice, soft and sad. Her Tail pointed in Nightpaw's direction. "She's... gone," Breezefire said, not wanting to make it even worse. She probably already is sad. You know that. They were close. Breezefire's harsh words to herself made her even more numb with pain. You were her daughter. You should have talked to her more. Paid more attention to her. Been closer to both of them. But what did you do instead? Nothing. Nothing. Nothing at all.

Goldenfeather had rushed to where he heard the yowls near the river. A plump vole hang from his jaws as he pushed through the brush to find Breezefire and Bluepaw, crouching beside the still body of Nightpaw. The vole then fell from his mouth, and he shut his eyes in shock.

The queen laid limply against a rock in camp, Her blind eyes dull and dejected at the recent events that had transpired.

He was really gone. They voted him out.

Of course, they would of if her son had returned with his mentor.

At first, she was sure he'd come back. The clan wasn't going to throw him out and Brookpaw didn't like to stay out alone long, right?

Hours passed, and her worry grew.

Breezefire had told her that he wanted to collect herbs for a little longer. Was he hurt? Sick? Dear Starclan, she wouldn't forgive herself if he was in trouble. Still, he did not appear. Windsong started to think. Peice things together.

Then it clicked. And she snapped.

Maybe it was the recent murders. Maybe it was her isolating herself for so long. Maybe it was because she lost the last thing she loved. Maybe she was slowly going insane.

Oh, she would never feel bad about the words she screamed at Breezefire.

She murdered her son. Must've left him for dead. She was the true killer, she had to be. Windsong called her heartless, evil, a traitor, and countless other things that one would be horrified knowing she had sobbed and screamed those words. But Windsong had lost it. In a heartbeat, she would had left with her son and even sacrificed herself for him, but no, Breezefire had to abandon him and leave him scared and defenseless. It killed her.

Oh, how she wished Breezefire could feel the pain she had felt. She would love to see it.

So there she was, laying in her pathetic form against a stone, waiting almost patiently for her to be next on the killers hit list. If didn't matter to her now.

She wouldn't be the same again.

Finchblossom padded into the nursery, a vole in his jaws. The skittish tom sat next to the grieving queen, sadness clouding his gaze. He bent his neck, placing the vole in front of her before laying in the nest mext to Windsong. Finchblossom opened his jaws to speak, closed hem again, then after a second thought spoke. "My...deepest apologies...about Brookpaw," he began, then gulped. "These cats are too young to die so soon."

"What happened?" He mewed, his eyes opening as he approached the two cats. A chill ran down his spine as he noticed that Nightpaw's body was wet, and that there was an injury to her head. It was apparent what happened, and Goldenfeather placed his tail on Breezefire's back to comfort her. His gaze shifted to Bluepaw, who he still suspected to be the killer. "I'll go tell the clan." His mew was quiet, and he ran in direction of the camp. When he arrived, he let out a loud mew.
"Nightpaw is dead! The killer struck again."
