"Ah, I was hoping squirrels!" she said in a kitlike way, then nodded. "But mice are nice, too!" She chuckled at her little rhyme.

Mistpetal made her way towards Shyshadow's den, deciding that she would ask if he needed any help with anything.

He glanced at Lightpaw, a bit guilty. "Lightpaw, why don't you at least try to hunt squirrels with us? You can always just learn." He was trying his best to impress Whistlesong- although, it didn't really seem to be working as well as he had hoped.

Shyshadow grumbled over the spoiled catmint until he realized someone else was in the den. He peered over his shoulders, ears growing hot as he saw Mistpetal. "Y-you didn't hear that, right?"

"Uhm, Wolfheart, if she wants to catch mice, we can. I don't mind." She looked confused as to why he was trying to get the apprentice to hunt what she wanted.

Adderfur propped himself up, sheathing his claws as he turned to look at the familiar she-cat. Perhaps she'd seen him training? Eh, it's not like it mattered anyways. It wasn't like he was trying to keep his self training secret or anything. He often trained himself daily, it just happened that no one ever cared to find out, so he just... Did. However, if Tigerfoot found out that he was training by himself.. The thought of that happening annoyed him; he could just imagine his brother's smug face, staring down at him, asking something like 'aww, trying to be better than me for once?' Snapping his thoughts back to reality, the tough-faced tom rolled his shoulders and stretched.

"Morning," he replied in a cool tone, flicking his tail and turning his dull amber gaze to the feminine. He already seemed bored with the conversation, turning and swiping at a nearby tree, which, not surprisingly, had many more deep claw-marks already carved into it. He wasn't the most friendly cat, of course. And he disliked talking a lot. But if someone made the effort, he'd eventually grow accustomed to speaking to them. Many cats had tried before to make friends with him, but usually ended up being irritated, angered, or sad.

Lightpaw jumped forward, feeling a bit bad. Had she been greedy? "O-oh, squirrels sound fun! Let's do squirrels, then!" She meowed, wanting to be on good terms with her mentor's friend. Sniffing the air, she reminded herself that she'd only caught squirrels a few time, and that they could be difficult to catch with their speed. Swallowing nervously, she wriggled about, trying to find the scent of squirrels as she walked alongside Whistlesong. Maybe they were still too close to camp? She wasn't sure.

She remembered that the squirrels close to the twoleg place were really plump. but.. Since the river separated their territory from the twoleg place, it was likely that the stepping stones were already flooded over with water. Plus, she didn't really like getting her paws unnecessarily wet.

"I hope I'm not interrupting anything too important," Stormsong purred, an amused glint in her eye that would tell him she wasn't really too bothered. She sat on the ground, curling her tail around her front paws. "So, how are you?"

"Hear what?" Mistpetal asked curiously, pretty much answering his question. "I-I just c-came to see if you... I wanted to ask if... I just wondered if you needed any help with anything." She mewed finally, her ears heating a little.

Now he felt even more guilty. "O-oh, umm, sorry.. I have to go.." He quickly turned around and ran off the way they had come, feeling guilty and overwhelmed with sadness. Oh StarClan... Now she probably thinks I'm greedy... And a kit! Oh, I'm so mouse-brained... Why me?

"Not really," he replied after a few moments, grunting as his claws snagged across the tree bark once more. He turned away from the tree, sinking to his back haunches and licking a paw, claws still extended. "Well.. I wouldn't say good, but not bad either." He said, raising a brow. He supposed he would talk to her for a bit, if it meant avoiding going back to camp for just a bit longer. Plus, she didn't seem nearly annoying as most of the other clan cats.

Lightpaw swallowed thickly, discomfort rising in her chest as Wolfheart ran off. "U-um.. He's usually not this way.. for some reason he acts really.. Umm.." She searched for the word quietly, ".. Nervous around you.." She herself wondered why he acted so strangely; of course, then again, she didn't know anything about love or liking someone, so she probably wouldn't anyways. Anxiously shifting her feet on the damp undergrowth, she glanced at Whistlesong. "Should we keep hunting or follow him?"

"Well, as long as you aren't too bad, I suppose it's alright." Stormsong said after a moment's thought. "So, were you training?" She didn't sound amused, just curious, and perhaps the slightest bit interested.

Shyshadow sighed in relief, ears still hot at he looked at Mistpetal. "Nevermind, then, eheh..." His ears pricked as she spoke again. "O-oh! Uhm...would you like to tag along with Tigerfoot, Deadpaw and I to find some catmint? We need to restock." He spoke in a small voice, tail flicking awkwardly.

Whistlesong watched him go with a frown and a sigh. She looked at Lightpaw as she spoke, realizing what was going on as her ears went hot. "Erm...if you'd still like to catch mice, I can stay here with you," she purred to the apprentice, making a mental note to speake to Wolfheart later.
