She looked at her kits as they started mewling. All except one. She tried nudging him, but it wouldn't work. She burried her nose in the tiny kit's fur and knew he was born dead. "I'll call you... Bravekit." She meowed,tears coming from her eyes.

She was utside the nursery when she heard little sobs. She padded in and saw her daughter crying over a kit. "I think that's a lovely name." She meowed as she sat next to Dawnwatcher. "Waht about these three." She meowed, pointing to the other remaining kits.

She felt comforted by her mother and looked up to see her three remaining kits. She studdied her kits and noticed one had a deformed paw. "This one will be Fallenkit after his paw." She meowed before looking at the others. "This red one here will be Foxkit." She meowed, not noticing her mother start to tense a little. "This one here is the smallest, so I'll call her Littlekit." She finished.

Firefeather was in the camp , drenched . He thought of going out again , but went to the fresh-kill pile and took a vole out . He bit on it slowly as if it was the last fresh-kill he would eat . He kept thinking about Goldendapple . Mouse-brain , you can push that thought to the back of your brain , isn't it ? He thought . Stop being silly !
