Jynx blinked. She was thinking over secret things, and she wasn't sure anyone else was thinking about it. How had Alatea proved herself yet?! This upset her, although she recovered from before. She stood infront of the two on the bank. "We need to migrate. It's natural, and I'm sure this is the only place bombed. Either way, we can use tools of the humans that have not been destoryed." she began, "It's worth a shot."
Jynx stood up, shaking her fur before going into the mini river and drining up. She would have to suck it up and eat deer after all. She hated the taste of it, but kept drinking. Water was the most important thing you could ever find. She lifted her head out of the water and trotted back to the clearing, quickly shaking her pelt agian and grabbing a peice of the meat. It was disgusting, she couldn't bare to ever eat it agian, but it filled her stomach well. "Anyone that wishes to live can follow me, or stay here where life seems impossible."
Jynx had seen something like this before, but it was only in a game. The humans had played humans, of course, and learned they had to migrate, so she figured it woould work in real life. She set off, heading through only rumble of what used to be bushes, into the unknown world. She was sure she could find her way up the continent to somewhere else.
She wondered how someone could recover as fast as she could, but realising depression spreads rapidly, she was determined to stay away from it. Wandering around, she turned around and headed back for the pet store. It was best to bring Azalea with them, her being heavy with pups and all. Jynx had never liked saying 'pregnant', although she had no idea why. She had said 'heavy with pups' since she was a pup. She looked back, no one but King following right now. She sighed. It must not have been convincing enough for them.

♦♥♦

King took a chunk of the deer and began chewing it. It took forever for him to get even one bite down, but he managed to finish the chunk. He ran after Alatea, desprate to chase the awful taste of the meat away. He dipped the tip of his muzzle in the water, lapping up the water. All of this stuff was disgusting. He picked his head up and shook off the extra water. He heard Jynx's words and then watched her leave. He decided it was worth a shot and ran after her.
This would be an epic journey, traveling across continants was never easy, and he was determined to find more life at Jynx's side. He didn't care what they might face, this was a matter between life and death. Yawning, he slowed down as Jynx noticed he was following her. Watching her change course with a filck of her long tail, he ran after her. Keeping up with this young female was hard on his part.

[Aw, I left out King this time.]

beebop wrote:"Alright, alright. It was just a thought." Bay said in response to King. "But never mind that. You should really eat some--" he continued, but was cut off mind-sentance by Alatea. He didn't like being stopped like that and he didn't like her tone; she talked as though everything was just fine. He frowned and meant to spit up some acidic retort, but then she mentioned water. Needless to say, he dropped everything and followed her as fast as he could.
Sure enough, there it was. It would've ben a sad excuse for a river on any other day, but at that moment, it might as well have been a great lake. He ran straight into the middle, overjoyed at the feel of moisture on his burning skin. He dipped his muzzle down and took huge gulps from the pool in front of him, snorting into the water like a horse. There were tastes in the river that were new to him, like iron and mud, and a chemical overtone, but he could've cared less. He went right on with his sloppy drinking, not caring how it tasted or how he was getting it in his nose, or how dumb he must've looked to the others on the bank.
Once he had had his fill, he trudged happily to the bank and shook off. He felt clean and full of water, and most importantly, like he had completely recharged himself. He sat on the dusty bank next to Alatea, his tongue lolling out in a stupidly happy grin. Then his companion spoke, and he turned his attention to her.
"If you want, I can go. You all don't seem to trust me and I wouldn't want to hold you guys back."
Bay blinked at the female sitting before him; that was not what he had been expecting her to say. "Where on Earth did you get that idea?" he laughed. "Dude, you're practically our hero. I don't think any of us would be here if it wasn't for you. You got us off our asses and to food and water, for Pete's sake!" The shepherd licked the excess water off his muzzle greedily, and then turned to her and spoke in a much more serious tone, "Just because I don't know you well doesn't mean I don't want you around. I'm not speaking for everyone, but I think you've more than proved your worth to me. I'll do whatever you say, Boss."

Stifling a chuckle at Bay's silly grin, her jaw was molded into a reserved smile. Drawing her tall ears closer to the sides of her skull, blood rushed to her face as a blush betrayed her embarassment. Tea didn't take compliment's too well, and could never seem to stop rouge from coloring her cheeks and the base of her ears. "Well thanks Bay, i'm glad you think i've done something beneficial for our group". Alatea beamed at him with her eyes slightly squinted, but then cocked her large head to the side in inquiry

"Boss? Bay, I don't know if I have what it takes but I guess if you guy's believe I do then i'll try my best". She kept things humble and looked toward Jynx, irritance seeming to radiate off of her in waves. "Um, Jynx? Are you all right?" she asked, and raised her harks to listen to what the femme had to say.

"Although I think that's a good idea, how can you possibly be completely sure that no other place in near proximity to here hasn't been bombed? I mean, even from the highest point in this city, the only thing you can probably see is smoke, ash, and ruins" pausing, she concocted an idea in her calculating mind. "Speaking of, why don't we head to the highest ledge we can find and see if we can gain a vantage point of all the damage, then we would have at least an idea of where we should go".

Giving a slightly irritated roll of her maroon eyes, she trailed at the heels of the two dog's heading to who knows where. Finally catching up, she padded at their side. Stopping at the ruins of the pet store, she realized that the sight didn't shock or terrify her like it had last time.

Trekking ahead in a stealthy canter, latea found what she was searching for. A high ledge rose up from where she stood, ascending into the sky in an almost regal fashion. The grass was singed and still warm under her calloused pads, but at least she wasn't dehydrated.

Scaling further up until she reached the top, a gasp left her lips and echoed into the darkened clouds. What once was a beautiful, quaint city was now obliterated into something almost identical to nothing. Everywhere she looked, she saw black from the ashes, rubble from the buildings, and faint glimpses of unmoving forms laiden across the terrain. The whole thing was just surreal, and she almost felt like breaking down into a fit of wailing; but finding the inner strength and resolution she knew she harbored, the Groenendael mix held her ground with a stony look glinting in her eyes.

The destruction seemed endless, a thick fog of despair descending down on the landscape and blanketing it with it's smog. But there was something else, something that made her spirits soar and her heart race in faith and a glimmer of hope glazing her pretty almond orbs. Almost entirely out of the reach of her vision she caught the faintest of golden light, it's fervency spanning gently over the distant skyline.

All is not lost... A striking grin appeared unannounced on her features and she raced down the slope with speed she didn't know she carried until she reached the rest of the group. Calling out into the whisps of darkness she howled excitedly "There is hope! Where the golden light meets the horizon is where we must go, it will be hard, but we can make it, the sooner we go the better". beaming again she took off in the general direction of the glow she had seen, tonight she would grieve, but right now she knew she and the rest of the group needed to get to the sanction of sunlight. And soon...
Sorry to everyone who I have threads with, I was quite busy for a while but i'm now working on getting back on track! I'll try and post on the thread's i'm in as soon as I can!

Jynx growled slightly. Alatea was taking her idea and twisting it to control everyone by their minds. This made her sick. She bit the air at her, hoping no one caught a glimpse and walked over to the pet store. She went back through the hole. There had to be dog food that they stored down in the basement. Digging around with one paw, she scattered objects across the floor. Leashes, collars, beds, treats...treats! She finally made herself useful within the dark light of Alatea. That femme just had to be the center of attention... She kept digging though, treats she could save and bring with them, but food they needed now.

Using the same paw, she dug around all the dog pooper scoopers, which she had no idea was used for. What a silly idea if humans. She had to keep searching, her fate now rested in her own paws. She paused, sticking her nose into the pile. She never felt so happy in her entire life, the sweet smell of chicken flavored dog food filled her nostrils. She dug faster, using both paws this time. The noise of things clashing was almost unbearable, but all she could focas on now was the food. No wonder they hadn't scented it when they were trapped. The smell of death chokes and it was masked by all these items. She kept pausing to scent the air, the smell of chicken now trailed across the room and left through the hole. She could ggrab it now. She bit hard onto the over lapped handle-like thing, pulling the sixty-pound bag with all her muscle and body power. She had never felt so good before.

Jynx wasn't quite sure she could carry it up the tunnel, but she wanted to keep the 'new' leader out of her way and away from the food. It was not fair that Bay was kissing up to her and no one else that followed. She would travel alone now, it didn't matter to her if she traveled for years, she just wanted to stay clear of the gooy-two-shoes Alatea. Using her claws, she slashed the middle of the large bag, food pouring out. She licked her nose and began to hurridly stuff herself, her body showing to stay clear of her to any other dog. If Alatea was to take a step closer, she would blow and lash out on her, fighting her till the death of one of them.

She grumbled as she continued to eat the food off the ground. It would be best for Alatea to use her common sence and not just walk up because she was the new 'leader'. That was also partly Bay's fault, though. She couldn't just blame it on Alatea. Maybe she could convince Azalea to go with her, and she could start her own ban of dogs with her pups. She shook away her memories, devouring all the food she could. It would be a long time before they could eat like this agian. Her ban and herself could take over this territory before all the food was gone, pushing Alatea and her dogs out of their territoy. It was the perfect plan. All she needed was trusted followers. She might even be able to pick up other dogs that survivied, or a wolf or two. It would all run so smoothly with her and a close friend on top. She could learn the ways of the wolf with her new family, and survive.

Jynx began to think over dogs she could bring. She could bring Azalea, Rowan, maybe Bay beacause of Azalea, and King. She would reject Alatea as soon as she mentioned it, and it would feel good. She would need a co-leader, though. That would be a tough call. Keeping a pack under control is hard, and this would be no exception. The hackles in between her shoulder and rear stood, convinced dogs could read that signal. She flicked her tail a couple of times.

Re: Our World (Semi Lit/Literate Dog RP) [Needs Players!]

Postby Beebop » Sat Jun 12, 2010 10:39 am

Azalea woke to the push of small paws on her stomach. It hurt, and she was sore all over from running. She stretched and rolled over, coming out from under the car again. Although she hadn't had much sleep, she felt a little better than she had before; her thoughts seemed to have come into a better order.
She seated herself by one of the melted tires and looked around, totally unsure of where she was. Nothing looked familiar anymore. She pricked her ears and strained to hear anything that would tell her where she was. She sat there for a good while, listening to every last sound, until she heard voices coming from the right. They were faint, but they were definitely the voices of those she knew. From the drumming of their paws, she realized they were coming closer, and she stood up to go toward them. The female's delicate paws seared when she shifted her weight onto them, forcing her to sit again. Upon closer inspection, Azalea saw the damage the previous night's run had inflicted on the pink pads; she would have to be more careful of where she ran.
Still, she was upset with herself for running away before. It had accomplished nothing and only set her back; now she would have to walk God knows how far to get back to the kennels just to be back where she started from. She pushed herself up again, wincing with the pain, but bearing it, and forced herself to start walking back towards the sounds of her friends.

.....

Bay watched Alatea and Jynx converse with interest. His first impression of Jynx had been one of weakness, but this was obviously not the case; she had a fiery streak in there. The shepherd cocked his head and half-listened to what they were saying, half-lost in his own thoughts. He was pulled away when he saw everyone leaving, and quickly ran to catch up.
It soon became apparent that Jynx was leading them back to the store. The run back went faster than he remembered the run away being, which was a welcome surprise to him.
When they arrived at the site, everyone seemed to split. Alatea ran off ahead somewhere, the others went to sit down, and Bay was left to his own devices. He wasn't entirely sure what to do with himself, but these things had often happened to him in the past. If he was left out of some plan, he could usually just wait until someone came back and ask them what was going on. In the mean time, he watched the others a few feet away. He noticed that Jynx seemed to be angry about something, but he wasn't entirely sure what....
But he was diverted shortly. Alatea's figure appeared on the top of a hill, silhouetted against the sky. He watched her stand there, unable to tell what she was doing until she turned around to rejoin the rest of the group where he lay. He listened to what she had to say and immediately became excited when she spoke in such a hopeful tone. Still, he was surprised when she bolted off in the direction she said promised hope. He scrambled to get up and blocked her path with his body. He, of course, was ready to follow her, but there were things that needed to be done first. "Alatea, I assure you that no one's happier to hear this news then I am," he said, "But the others might need some convincing... I just don't want to leave them behind." He looked around, trying to find something that would sell the idea. "Like... Azalea doesn't seem to be anywhere close by," he said, frowning a bit with concern, but turning back to Alatea and thinking nothing more of it. "We don't want to leave her, right? And Jynx went down in there," he gestured to the tunnel with a flick of his tail. "I don't even think she heard what you were saying. I'll go get her... would you try and find Azalea for me? I understand we want to leave soon, but I want all of us to leave soon." Bay smiled and ran off down the tunnel where he had seen Jynx disappear.
His mind was buzzing with excitement; he had assumed the entire world had been destroyed somehow. But now, they had a place to go, a paradise that had been saved... it made him giddy just thinking about it. He slid down into the cellar on his stomach, reaching the bottom as fast as he could. He couldn't see anything in the dark at first, but Jynx's figure soon became obvious. "Jynx!" he called, running towards her. "Didn't you hear what --" Before he could finish his thought, he slid on something... a piece of dog kibble. Kibble? What the heck was that doing there all of a sudden? Then he realized Jynx was bent over a large bag of the stuff; it was ripped open and it's contents spilled, and Jynx was stuffing herself. He pinned his ears and frowned, trying to understand what was going on. "Um... Jynx? Did you plan on telling us you had food down here anytime soon?"

Jynx flattened her fur quickly. "I heard, I don't want to go. And I did plan on it. I'm done anyway." she said, lifting her head from the food and stepping back a few steps. "As long as food is here, I'm staying." she continued, making herself clear about her decision. "I'm not happy about Alatea, by the way. All she has done is show others her thoughts say she's top dog." Jynx flicked the tip of her tail, angry. She snorted. "It's not fun being out casted. She's taken my idea and completely twisted it. All I want is a peice of fame, and I want to lead the journey."

[Eh, writer's block. Short post.]

((Yeah, it happens, don't worry about it. At least you got the point across, right? :D))

Bay was taken aback by Jynx's anger. He hadn't expected that at all, and if he had been expecting it, he certainly wouldn't have thought it would come from her. Still, he had no intention of being light with her; she was being ridiculous! He loosened his stance a little to try and appear a little less menacing. "Jynx, you don't want to stay here. You've got this huge bag of food now, but it's not gonna to last more than a month. Then what'll you do?" He stepped forward and smiled nervously. "Come with us. No one's casting you out, and no one's trying to run the show here." He sat, blocking the little light that came through the mouth of the tunnel with his large body. "But you're wrong about Alatea. She motivated us! She got us to food and water. She's being really modest about this whole thing and if it's anyone's fault for promoting her leadership, it's mine." He took on a serious tone, making his point clear. "You may have just met her, but I've known her for a while now. She's determined and I trust her. Azalea and I are going with her; she's seen a safe place for all of us on the horizon. Don't be selfish, you can voice your opinions too, but you should at least listen to her." Bay stood and turned his back on the girl, placing his front paws in the mouth of the tunnel. On second thought he turned and said, "We're leaving soon and we could use you in the group... please come with us." Then he ducked his head into the hole and acceded back to the others.

.....

Azalea's stomach ached from hunger and her mouth burned from thirst. Dehydration and pregnancy did not bode well, especially for one so thin. Luckily for her, though, she hadn't gone quite as far away as she had first thought. If she followed the sounds of the other's voices as they echoed between the walls of the fallen skyscrapers, she could retrace her steps easily, and they didn't sound very far away. She picked up her pace when she heard Bay speaking around the corner, eager to see him again. She had been extremely lonely and wanted someone to talk to. When she finally reached the end of the block she had been on, she hung right and could see some of the other dogs in the crater where the store had once been. Her heart throbbed when she thought of seeing her dead master again, but she refused to let herself run away any longer. The young dog pushed on for the final stretch, nearly breaking into a run. It was the best she could do in her condition.
She got within a few yards of the store and stopped for breath, easily within earshot of the others. She didn't see a reason to run all the way; they all seemed to be occupied with something else. Instead, she sat and curled her wispy tail over her throbbing paws, watching her friends interact. She sighed and leaned to the right so her shoulder rested on the rubble next to her, effectively supporting her weight. If anyone was to look toward her, she would ask if they had found any food or water, but for now, she was content with letting herself rest.

Jynx froze. To be honest, she was confused. She finally followed. Bay was right, all of what he said was right. After she reached the top she said, "Kibble in the basement." She had been proved wrong and she decided agianst her plan. She yawned as she lifted herself out of the hole, glancing at Bay. She had a secret to tell, but held it in. She wasn't meant to tell.
[I'm gonna take a break from Jynx and King now. I want to RP Alika well when she's accepted.]

((Yay, more characters! I was thinking of making another one, too... I should do that. We need more male characters.))

Bay emerged from the tunnel and sat a few feet away, licking the dirt off his paws. He was upset about Jynx; he wanted everyone to get through this together, but now she seemed so hesitant. What if she didn't come?
But within moments, she too followed him out of the tunnel, announcing the presence of food. She looked kind of defeated, and when she didn't say anything about her plan, Bay knew she wasn't going to go through with it. Their eyes met and he smiled warmly and encouragingly. "This will work, I promise," he said, and ran off to find Alatea.

Character's Name: Ronnie
Gender: Male
Breed: English Pointer
Family: None
Personality: Ronnie is very old, but very smart. He tends to be reserved and listen to others rather than voice his own opinions, but if asked, he'll probably give decent advice.
Brief History of Previous Life: As a puppy, Ronnie lived with his owner, an ambitious outdoorsman. They were separated during a hike, and when he returned to the city to find his owner, he was picked up by an older woman. She turned out to be a hoarder and had over 20 dogs in her house. Conditions weren't terrible, and although he had fleas and lost a little weight, it was bearable. He lived there until he was ten, when his owner was forced to give up 15 of her dogs. He was sent to the shelter and has lived there ever since.
