She smiled and felt happier now at her mentor's words. She crouched down and swayed her tail like he said, she put her weight on her hunches and pounced. She landed on dirt but it was just a practice. She looked around and sniffed the air for prey. She saw a mouse and crouched again and swaying her tail a small bit, she shuffled her paws to steady and the pounce! She was on the mouse in a second her claws retracted after it was dead she picked it up and smiled at him.

"M-my scars? They are showing through my fur?" she meowed in alarm, fur bristling and showing them even more so. She'd been talking about her leaping at him and that being true. She'd teased him about that. Se hadn't ment for it to be true. She was really sorry for that, but embarassed about her scars showing when she was so good at covering them up.

He stood up "I don't mind your scares your beautiful even with them" he mewed awkwardly trying to make her not sad.

Cinder blinked at him, look up at him with the awe-struck look on her face. Not cat but her brother had ever called her beautiful, so his words were a bit of a shock to her. She didn't say anything for a long time, a very long time. "I-I... Thank you Stonepaw..." she mewed, giving a tiny smile to him.

He smiled and stood up tall "lets try this again I bet I can beet you this tiny!" He purred

Cedarpaw flicked his tail with excitement. He dropped the shrew and ran his tongue over his jaws. He tilted his head at her and then smiled sheepishly at her exclamation. "Well, it was a messy catch." he explained quickly, being as modest as always. He dipped his head and shrugged slightly. "I've watched others hunt, and it didn't look to hard. Mind you, I probably did it all wrong with the crouch and whatnot." he added with a shake of his tail. "But yes, I'd love to do some battle moves!" He lifted his head to gaze eagerly at Pineleaf.

PINELEAF::
"Well," she started sheepishly, "let's start with an easier one." She racked her brain nervously. "Actually, defense is probably best. Let's try a front paw blow. That's not defense, but it's easy." She tensed for a moment and then sprang into the air before landing a gentle blow on Cedarpaw's forehead. "It's a simple but effective move. Try it." She waited for Cedarpaw to do it, but found she was too excited and babbled on, "Also you should learn to play dead. When an opponent wounds you, if he thinks you're alive he may finish the job. But if you're dead, he's unlikely to cause you further harm. So I want to see you play dead, like this!"

She fell to the ground and her eyes rolled back into her head as her paws flopped uselessly onto the ground. she was very good at this. She let a little dribble of spit loll out her mouth.

Flicking his tail Cedarpaw nodded to his mentor. "Okay!" He stumbled back a bit at her light blow, blinking and eager to try it out on her. Before he could do anything she had gone ahead again, and he waited patiently. He watched her flop on the ground and play dead, amusement flickering in his gaze at the sight of her. "Very realistic." he mewed, sitting down. "Should I try that first?" he tilted his head and waited for her to get up.

"Very realistic." he mewed, sitting down. "Should I try that first?" he tilted his head and waited for her to get up.

PINELEAF::
"Probably," she burbled excitedly. "Try it out. Thank you, my Twoleg taught me to do it. Well, not really, but he taught the dog to do it and I just learned." She smiled sadly and then smiled a bit more cheerfully. Pineleaf was nice, kind, sweet even, but she was not sentimental. She didn't like to dwell in memories.

The young tabby smiled slightly. "Heh, alright." he mewed, taking a step forwards. He tilted his head then lay down on his side, splaying out his legs and lifting his head back. He stilled his tail and half-closed his eyes, slowing his breathing until it was barely noticeable. After a moment he quivered and let his eyes flick up to Pineleaf. "Like this?"

"Yes!" Pineleaf exclaimed loudly. "That's really good. I didn't get that good until a few moons in. Do the front paw blow--although I'm sure you'll perfect that too. I can't believe Eaglestar hasn't yet made you a warrior. A few more days and you'll be there."
