"It wouldn't be much of a lesson if you didn't try to apply it to an actual hunting situation." Vipereye noted quietly, not wanting to alert everything to their presence now that they were moving locations, a hint of amusement appearing in his voice for a heartbeat. It had vanished by the time he spoke again. "Focus, the best techniques in the world mean nothing if you can't scent where the prey is in the first place."

Jinx attempted to sniff the air, but still couldn't smell a thing. She lowered her voice this time, trying to whisper. "Do you smell anything?" She asked, still looking around.

she looked up at splashfoot and smiled.
"great!" she chirped - her face suddenly dropped. she smirked, toning her voice down to a whisper. "i mean... great." she smiled.
with that, she nodded at him before crouching down close to the grass - she straightened her tail out, and lowered herself as low as she could.

"is this okay?"

His tail tip twitched, but he couldn't blame her for this one. "There should be a small flock of birds that way," he nodded to their left, "it's a bit tricky to catch, the wind is blowing their scent away from us."

"Great" Splashfoot smiled and watched hee intently watching her moves before she would actually get the mouse.

the little feline nodded her head at splashfoot before focusing her senses on the mouse that sat somewhere ahead.
she needed to pin point exactly where it was. she rose her head to scent the wind.
aha! in that bush... she whispered to herself with a grin. ashpaw began crawling slowly towards the plump rodent. she was so close- she could hear in chewing on a seed... 3-2-1!

she pounced, landing almost square on the small animal and clamping her small fangs into its throat before it could escape. ashpaw remained this way until it stopped twitching and kicking and returned to her mentor with her kill in her jaws.

"i got it.." she mewed, quietly, dropping the mouse at splash's feet.

"Great job ashpaw!" Splashfoot purred and he lifted his paw, playfully batting her ear before he turned around. "You ready to head back?" He questioned.

Cricketpaw ran ahead of Embersky, her tail sticking straight up as she did so. Her black and white pelt still had the downy look that most kits had. "Where are we going to train?!" Cricketpaw called back, trying to remember the training place was on their territory.


Rustpaw hurried after Vixenpaw so he could walk next to her. He leaned over and nudged the vole back on her back when it looked like it was about to fall.


Soaringbird looked back at the two apprentices before leading them back to camp. Once they were back at camp, she dropped her snow hare on the fresh-kill pile.


Flamingpaw thought for a moment then shrugged. "Cootrunner says it's good, but I think it could be better." She mewed to Tom. "How is your training?"

"sure," the grey female smiled, picking up her kill and standing beside splash.
