Lavenderleaf exited her den with a contagious smile and a lift to her steps. She had always enjoyed her check-ups on the mollies in the nursery and looked forward to her every visit. Not that she was limited to only seeing them during her routine calls - no, no, no! Lavenderleaf thought herself to be a friend of Otterwhisker and Windsong and visited them frequently to catch up and chat.

She was halfway between the elders den and the nursery when a wail disturbed the otherwise peaceful atmosphere of the morning.
"Well that didn't sound too pleasant!" She thought aloud. Naive as always no semblance of worry or concern flooded through her. In her little world of peace, happiness, and bliss nothing was ever as bad as it sounded. There was a bright side of things! Lavenderleaf made a slight alteration in her path as she turned towards the Elder's den - smile still on her face, albeit a little less brighter than before.
"Hey guys! What's going on over here, are we all okay?" She called out to the small crowd gathering behind the den.

"O-OH!" Lavenderleaf reared back at the sight before her, nearly bumping into the equally shocked Dewpaw. "Uhmm... Uuh," Her brain was on lockdown mode, her little mind unable to process and register what had happened. In all her training she had never experience death first hand, and had no bearing on how to deal with it.

Ebonypaw shook his head as he awoke, dawn light filtering into the den. His mind was fuzzy, and he twitched the tip of his tail as it felt numb. He could feel that the den was empty, so he let out a short and pained sigh. He got to his paws reluctantly, shaking out his short pelt with a grimace. He put on the fake smile he always wore, and trotted out of the den.
"Goodmorning," he mewed to no one in particular, his eyes scanning across the faces of his clanmates. As soon as he saw Dewpaws shocked expression, he knew something was wrong. His gaze shifted to the elders den, a copper like smell stinging the air. A cold shiver ran through his body as he saw the sight before him.

Pumpkinpaw sits up, yawning and stretching her small limbs. She pokes her head out of the medicine cats den briefly before jumping out and puffing her fur and taking in the fresh air. The apprentice inhales deeply before noticing the cats gathering, to which she bounds over, flicking her ears before saying with another yawn "Hey, what's going on??"

Breezefire padded towards the commotion after her mouse. She could hear cats crying and pain seeping through them. What happened? she thought. "What happened? May I see?" she asked, hoping that nothing extremely bad had happened.

A wide but sleepy smile appeared on the blind queen's features as her mate padded in with a minnow and a greeting. "Good morning Blastclaws." The she-cat purred, before opening her muzzle again to continue "How did you slee-" She was suddenly cut off at the sound of a shriek coming from behind the elders den. "What was that?" She asked, concern heavy in her voice.

Pumpkinpaw gasps when she realizes the scene in front of her. Pushing her way till she reaches Lavenderleaf, she presses into her for comfort. Being not born in the clans, she didn't have a large amount she was attached to, so she bonded quite closely to her mentor. A few minutes later, she mumbles out a quiet What happened..?
