It was a peaceful greenleaf, or so the clan thought. There had been no
trouble with Thunderclan and Onyxpaw was doing well in her apprenticeship.
However, the peace was about to end in one night.

"Jadestar?" called out a soft voice. "Jadestar?" The cat padded over to the
leader's nest where the blind molly lay contentedly.

"Yes?" asked Jadestar calmly.

"I know who your father is."

Jadestar cocked her head quizzically. "And even if you did, does it matter
anymore?"

"It does to me," the cat hissed. "Your mother broke the Warrior Code. How
can we tell that you haven't as well?"

Jadestar's tail simply twitched which turned into a silenced yowl of surprise
as the cat leapt onto her. Taking advantage of her blindness, the killer
struck her spine with a heavy blow before finishing her off with a bite to
the neck. Copper blood mixed with russet fur as the killer washed their paws
clean and returned to their nest. The next morning, the clan would find that
their leader, Jadestar, had been murdered in her nest.

Watch out, Riverclan, for you have a murderer among you! Take care not
to accuse innocents or you may find yourselves picked off one by one.

Kill One: Jadestar, the guard, has been killed.

The young tom awoke in his nest, dawn light warming his white pelt. Owlstrike knew that he and Onyxpaw were on dawn patrol, so luckily he woke up early to wake her. He moved out of his nest, stretching quietly. As he walked to the apprentice den, a strange smell hit his nose. The scent of blood. At first he was worried, but he turned towards the fresh kill pile and figured someone had caught prey.
Pushing into the apprentice den, a wave of nostalgia swept over him. It had not been long since the tom moved into the warrior den, and he sometimes missed the sound of the small stream that ran besides the apprentice den.
Prodding Onyxpaw gently in the side, Owlstrike mumbled "It's time to get up for Dawn patrol."

Bramblestorm woke as the sun rose. She exited the warriors' den, searching for Owlstrike and Onyxpaw. The three had previously agreed to a patrol, as the deputy wanted to see how her daughter was doing. She yawned, and an unsettling smell hit her. She glanced at the fresh-kill pile, noticing that many fish had been caught. But this was different. Deciding to speak to the leader, Bramblestorm headed towards Jadestar's den. The stench grew stronger and it became nauseating. The she-cat froze, afraid to go any further. "Something's not right," she murmured, swaying on her paws.

The tom waited a moment, noticing that Onyxpaw was sound asleep. He sighed, exiting the den with a flick of his tail. He would find Bramblestorm first before waking Onyxpaw.
He spotted the deputy standing outside of the Leader's den, the same smell reaching his nose once more. He began trotting towards the deputy, noticing how the stench became stronger as he approached.
"Is everything alright-" he stopped mid sentence, as the smell was extremely strong and coming from the leader's den. He kept calm, noticing that Bramblestorm seemed unsettled. "I'll check on Jadestar." He moved forward slowly, peeking inside the dark den before stepping inside. The copper smell was almost suffocating, and as his eyes laid on to Jadestar's body he froze. He knew the leader had all of her lives, or at least most of them, so that must've been the reasoning behind the amount of blood.
He quickly backed up, tripping over his own paws. He sat down next to Bramblestorm, eyes wide. He blinked a couple times, regaining his composure before mewing, "Jadestar is dead.".

Bramblestorm watched as her daughter's mentor entered the leader's den. He returned seconds later, his face giving it all away. She heard the words he said, but did not quite comprehend how it was possible. Jadestar had so many lives, she could not have posibly died so soon like that? Her own mother, snatched so quickly? The she-cat stood and trembled, her fur bristling. Bramblestorm peered into the den and gagged. "Oh, dear StarClan. Someone... someone murdered you..." she whispered. Someone had murdered the leader. She quickly turned around and her eyes searched the camp. "Someone here did this," she mewed, more to herself than to Owlstrike. "No one could've slipped into camp like that. There's no scent of another cat, rogue or Clan wise."
