As Yumiko settled down beside Fall, a content sigh escaped the foxe's lips. His ears began to perk up; they almost seemed a bit too large for his head, however they fit his head quite nicely. He turned his head to the left to gaze at Fall with wide amber orbs. "Yes, I really do think you need to clean out those thorns." the fae agreed, a playful glimmer in her eyes. As she smiled playfully at Yumiko he mirrored the gesture involuntarily.
Fall twisted her neck 'round and leaned back, baring her teeth as she did so. Yumiko watched with a tilted head as she sunk her teeth in a thorn that was lodged in her tail, pulling back viciously. As the thorn released it's irritating grip Fall pulled herself back and spat the thorn out at the entrance, Yumiko watching as it tumbled slightly down the slope the thicket rested upon. After a moment, Fall gazed up at Yumiko with those oh-so familiar chocolate brown eyes and Yumiko smiled down at her gently.
The fae smiled at the fox and pressed herself against him, resting her head in the crook of his neck. A small blush arose in Yumiko's cheeks and he rasped his tongue gently over her forehead. His eyelids fluttered closed and a content silence hung between the two, for nothing needed to be said. Yumiko had a special bond where the two could just sit there and say everything they needed to with their eyes.
However, in the back of his mind Yumiko knew that this wouldn't last. He knew that one day Fall's Pack would diiscover of their little afair and would pry her out of his grasp. He winced inwardely; it hurt thinking about that. So Yumiko knew that he would just have to simply enjoy Fall while she lasts.
Yumiko was so wrapped up in his own thoughts that he almost hadn't even heard Fall's quiet voice slice the air. "Yumiko, if you're a fox why are you larger than me?" she asked, and Yumiko opened his eyes to see Fall gazing up at him curiously. Yumiko shrugged and tucked her farther into his lush flame tail, holding her paw. "Well, for one thing, I'm older than you." he pointed out, his amber eyes glimmering with a somewhat thoughtful light. After a heartbeat, he glanced down at Fall and smiled slightly. "And plus my mom would always say that my dad was large for a fox, so maybe that has something to do with it."
At the mention of Yumiko's family, a brief flame of sadness flickered through Yumiko and he trailed off slightly. His father had abandoned his mother before Yumiko was born, apparently because he didn't want the responsibility of caring for kits. Being the only child, his mother was like his best friend. She was always there for him when he needed a shoulder to cry on, and vice versa. His ears somehwat drooped at the memories. Had his mother not fallen ill, she would still be alive today. However, after a moment Yumiko shook his head. I can't think about that now. he thought firmly. My mother's dead, and there's nothing I can do to change that.
