.: M O O N S H A D E :.
The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart
And in the dark, I can hear your heartbeat
I tried to find the sound
But then it stopped and I was in the darkness
So darkness I became
After a long while of staring aimlessly out the warrior's den towards the storm raging on still, the dark she-cat let out a soft sigh. She raised her head, looking up towards the strong roof of the warrior's den. She then looked back down and glanced at Secretgrudge's figure near her and blinked in wonder. It was impossible to even guess what he was thinking at any time. Now that she was deputy, she started thinking of all her clanmates differently. Who would instantly treat her with respect? The apprentices, hopefully. Spiderfrost always did her own thing; though she pointed out, rather awkwardly, that she'd be on her side no matter what.
Moonshade smiled at the faint memory of the white she-cat telling her that earlier. Sagepaw? Yes. I helped her join the clan. She's my apprentice now. I can trust her. And I'm going to have to visit her frequently in the nursery later... Don't want her to only have Dewstorm alone with her kits as her only companions. She yawned, finally feeling a little sleepy. I should have just asked Spiderfrost for poppy seeds. But it was fine now. She laid her head back down, and attempted to curl up tightly before she remember her wounds. She winced, almost hissing out loud from the sudden pain. She relaxed her limbs instead and closed her beautifully ominous eyes. She fell into a deep sleep quickly.
The young deputy woke with a start, only after what felt like seconds. Her eyes were wide as she stood crouching in the forest, with sunlight bathing her pelt. She looked around in confusion, trying to figure out what kind of dream was this. She tipped her head to one side, noticing two figures standing not too far off from her. She took a few steps toward them carefully, but froze and retreated when she noticed both toms were snarling at each other's faces and their fur was fluffed up. Moonshade blinked in shock. The two warriors were Secretgrudge and Fireface. "SHhe doesn't care for you, fox-dung! She doesn't know you like she does me!" "Oh really? You think she wants to hang around a mangy tom with one eye like you?!" "You don't even treat her well! It's your fault!" they threw back at one another. She took one step back in fear. Why were they so angry?! The two hardly spoke to each other as far as she knew! "What's going on?" she asked in a surprisingly firm voice filled with authority. They both turned to her, about to snap at her in rage and defiance but instantly recognized their deputy and didn't do anything. Fireface's one good eye twinkled with sadness and disappointment as he looked at her and shook his head before looking away. Secregrudge growled at her instead. "You!" he screeched at her. Moonshade blinked in shock and took one step back. He followed, towering over her, and raised one paw over his head, claws unsheathed and glinted in the sunlight. Fireface's eye widened, but he did nothing to defend Moonshade. "Traitor!" Secretgrudge yelled. Anger and betrayal flashed in his eyes. The dark she-cat crouched in fear. "Secretgrudge, please!" she said, almost begging. For some reason, the dream version of her knew what was going on but the sleeping one was seriously lost and utterly confused. Before he landed a hard blow, he froze, eyes widening. He stared at her, shock and disbelief flooding his face. "I..I.." he mumbled, backing away from her, remembering who she really was. Moonshade lay pressing her belly to the ground, eyes huge and hackles raised. She blinked, feeling one tear trace down her cheek, and opened her eyes once more to blink in the darkness of the warrior's den, jumping at the loud booming of thunder.
She panted hard, not understanding what had just happened. Be careful, Moonshade. You can't control your fate but you can change your actions before they may happen, one familiar, deep voice of a tom boomed in her mind, warning her. She swallowed, shivering. Her hackles were still raised and she lowered her head, noticing her claws had been digging in through her moss. She tried to relax and wrap her mind around what just happened. She only knew one thing for sure: the two toms angry at her for some reason were the two she couldn't stop thinking about lately.
