Murderers in Riverclan V.2 [Roster Update 10/30]

Two cats sat atop a small hill, tails wrapped around
their paws. One was the majestic Rainstar, calmly
gazing over the nearby camp and the river. The
other was the killer's companion, who'd slipped
into their role as distraction quite well. They
almost couldn't see the gleam of the killer's eyes
in the bushes.

The two sat in silence, drinking in the cold air,
listening to a fox call in ShadowClan territory, an
owl hoot in ThunderClan, and the soft skittering
of small creatures in the undergrowth.
Rainstar spoke. 'I'll have to warn the other leaders
about the fox at the next gathering if it's still a
threat.'

The other nodded, breathing level. It wouldn't do
well to look distracted. 'Yes, that would be best.
I hope their nurseries are-' their words died in their
throat, and the leader glanced over, sympathy in
her eyes. 'Yes, I'm sure they are.'

They fell into a silence again, but slightly more
awkward. The killers companion prayed that it
would happen soon - and quickly.

It did.
The killer leapt out of the undergrowth, snarling
at Rainstar. The leader was taken by surprise,
whizzing around, claws out. They began to fight,
although Rainstar was slightly reluctant. 'I don't
want to hurt you.' She called, fur fluffed up in
unspoken terror.
'I do!' The killer snapped, eyes flashing. 'You knew
I wanted to be-' They never got to finish the
sentence, being tackled to the ground by a
mysterious figure shrouded in darkness.

Scared that it wouldn't work, the killer's companion
threw themselves backwards into the stunned
Rainstar, knocking her off the hill and to the ground
where she lay, unmoving.
Then, the two killers retreated, and the guard wished
they'd gotten a better look at the attacker.
They padded cautiously over to their leader, but she
was, thankfully, alive. The moment Rainstar awoke,
confused, the two padded back to camp where the
killers were already asleep (or awake. Who knows?)

When questioned the next day, Rainstar revealed that
she remembered nothing of the previous night,
muscles tense.
You're so lucky, RiverClan! Rainstar's still alive
and kicking.

She couldn't remember what had happened that night. She couldn't remember who saved her or who even attacked her. Still in shock after her attempted murder, Rainstar managed to calm herself down enough to call a clan meeting. "May all cats old enough to swim gather before me." Although it was early morning by then, she knew that what she had to say couldn't wait any longer. She waited for several minutes as a few cats groggily stumbled from their dens, some prickly after having their sleep interrupted, others curious as to what their leader had to say. "Last night, I was attacked. It was dark, so I could not make out who it was, although I could have sworn I had heard multiple voices. If it weren't for the cat who saved me, I would already be dead. I will not stop until my clan, Riverclan, is rid of these murderers." Her voice quickly escalated towards the end, changing from sadness to sudden anger, an emotion she rarely felt as a leader. She couldn't believe that someone would try to assassinate her. What had her clan become?

Shiverthorn

Still fairly tired, Shiverthorn padded out of the warriors' den. At this point, she could do little more than expect another death. Her eyes widened as she noticed that the scent of death was more faint than usual, and that the cats around her seemed alive and happy. Well, maybe not happy, but at least alive. Blinking up at Rainstar, Shiverthorn sat. The young she-cat could only nod in response to her leader's words, dread filling Rainstar spoke. Suddenly, a light went off in her head. Who was it that protected you, Rainstar? Perhaps if you do not remember what had happened, they do!" Joy filled the pale warrior for the first time in moons. We might just be able to find the murderers!

FireFeather woke up to the sound of his leader calling a Clan meeting. He stumbled over his own paws as he clambered out of his den and into the clearing. By the looks of it, it was barely even sun high.
RainStar attacked? FireFeather sighed and shook his head. "Our Clan is dwindling and now the killers have decided to attack our leader? What would we be left with..." FireFeather murmured quietly to himself. His tail was thrashing and his back fur was slightly raised.

pumpkinmask sat outside the warrior's den, eating a water vole. She looked up at her leader, who was calling a clan meeting.
Pumpkinmask was rather weary. Some cat here had tried to kill rainstar, and one had saved her. They knew who thdy were. But why didn't they say it? Even though there was an eye witness, it wouldn't matter much if they didn't speak up.

Emberheart listened intently to the leaders words, feeling her fur bristle. Someone would attack their leader? She glanced at the other cats, looking for any signs to who the attacker could be. What was their clan becoming?

(Yewbriar; it states in her form that her mood can drastically change at intervals, and that she stops to think before rushing into something. It's possible that the reason the one murderer distracts while the other attacks is because she needs to think out the perfect plan before attacking.)

Yewbriar tried to stifle a hiss as she darted out of the prickly den upon hearing the call of an announcement from her leader. "These murders went way too far long ago. We need to find out who it is before it gets any worse!" the she-cat growled, however deep in her mind felt it couldn't get any worse. Too many of the Clan had already been killed, and just as many exiled. With two killers still on the loose... Is StarClan still on RiverClan's side? Or had they chosen to neglect them in these dark times? She nodded along to Shiverthorn's words in agreement. "What Shiverthorn says is true as well. If you or anyone else has any memory of what the attackers may look like or who they may be, we could still find them." She felt an accusing glare casted her way and returned it, hair on her neck standing up.
