Brindle returned with three voles. She lay them down in a row. "Eat one."

"Just do it," Brindle lashed her tail.

"Why" Ocean repeated

Brindle looked at Ludwig. "She asks to many questions."

He sighed. "Smallpaw, please inform the Clan that I am dead. I can't handle the Clan, with all this death and mistrust. I'm sorry, but I need to be alone." Aspenstorm touched his nose to her head and dashed away, into the forest.

Smallpaw stared after her mentor in shock. The young cat stood there for a few moments and a sense of sadness washed over her. The young cat grumbled to herself, but turned around with her head and tail drooping. She shuffled into camp and immediately settled down in the darkest corner of the camp.

Ravenpaw listened to Whitepaw and Oceanpaw. "No! Don't eat that!" He immediately rolled out a juniper berry and said, "This will help."
