Dappleshade looked at Cinderstar. "Wildheart - you know, the kittypet? She can turn into a Twoleg."

Wildheart started, confused and a bit angry. "Did you hear that?" she asked Shockpaw. Wildheart - you know, the kittypet? She can turn into a Twoleg. What the heck just happened? she thought. I could have sworn I heard someone say that. But... It dawned on her. Dappleshade. That ShadowClan cat. Of course. First, everyone knew what ShadowClan thought of kittypets and former kittypets, so she could expect some derision from them - if not to her face, then when talking about her to someone else. And second, the reason she had heard it - Dappleshade's randomness power kicking in again. She sighed. Why did it seem that everything Dappleshade's power did related to her? Coincidence, she guessed. Probably it affected other people too...or maybe it only affected people who knew about her power? Aside from the things that happened to Dappleshade directly, of course. In that case, probably a few other people knew and were affected, but if she was one of a small number it would be pretty reasonable that it would affect her a lot. Of course, this was all just speculation.

"No," Shockpaw said,"What is it?" She was calm, yet felt singled out without being around th other kits.

SpookKit flattens his ears. There was no way DappleShade could use his power against him! Or ThunderClan!

Little Rosekit mewed softly, having tumbled out of the nest, and was crying.

[Puddles.]

NightKit hears his sister crying. He had to help her! That was what warriors did! He was going to be a warrior! He slowly opened his eyes and blinks away the fuzziness. The nursery was HUGE! He gets up on wobbly legs and falls face flat on the nursery moss. He yawns. He was tired! He was hungry! But wait! He needed to help RoseKit! It takes several attempts, but he finally manages to get up and teeter over to his sister.

Rosekit felt a warm, fluffy pelt by hers. She squinted her eyes, The nursery was giant, how would they get to the right nest?

Dappleshade purred, amused, and took the one step she needed to reach her tiny, adventurous kits. She picked Rosekit up by her scruff and dropped her into their nest, and then Nightkit too. She licked both of them then settled in around them. She looked back at Cinderstar. "And Spookkit can hear everything." Her eyes widened. "I shouldn't have said anything, now he knows -" then she shook her head. "I guess it doesn't matter. He would still hear everything we did, it doesn't really matter if he knows we know he can do that. Or if he knows we know he knows we know he can do that. Or whatever."

Wildheart shook her head slowly. "Never mind. It was nothing." She couldn't hear Dappleshade anymore, which was just as well. Who knew what else the queen might be calling her?

Rosekit started to suckle.

Shockpaw looked at Wildheart,"Why again did you pull me away from the kits?" She hated being singled out.

Wildheart returned the look. "They were being annoying." And indiscreet, she thought to herself. She didn't want every cat to know about this until she knew more about what was going on. Those kits certainly weren't helping...
