EmberHeart was shaken by the fact that it was possible that one of them had done this... if so, then who?

(I understand why some are suspecting Emberheart; she does want to eventually become leader someday, however no where in either kill does it say that the killer has a long fluffy tail. Also keep in mind that Emberheart is a new warrior- she has never had an apprentice. So why should she be jealous of Rabbittail if she can't even be deputy in the first place? )

((I'm going with Dampaw this round. Although one may argue that the killer is Spiderpaw because of the stutter, I believe that is a little too obvious. People generally stutter when they're nervous regardless, and in Dampaw's form it says that he is easily frightened. Take note that in the first kill the killer is "startled by Silverflower's sudden concern". ))

FireFeather was truly losing his grip now. The third murder and they still didn't know who it was? He began to feel tears fall from his face- something he had generally tried not to show unless he by himself. He had watched Clanmates worry about the ones who showed sadness, but he didn't want to be worried about. The rest of the Clan would need it more. Especially MadigoldPaw.
He walked up to the young apprentice with wet cheeks and buried his nose into their flank.

Feeling Spiderpaw's tail resting on him gently, Marigoldpaw felt no inclination to open his mouth and speak in response to his offer, so instead he shook his head numbly. He didn't want to leave Rabbittail's side just yet - it wouldn't feel right. He blinked in faint appreciation at the comfort that Spiderpaw, Silverfeather and Firefeather offered him, but for the most part their words were going through one ear and out the other. The only thing he could properly focus on was the fact that Rabbittail was alive and breathing one moment, and a lifeless corpse the next.

As time ticked by, his grief dwindled to a hollow emptiness, then boiled and sizzled into a flame of anger. Anger towards the culprit - be it a clanmate or not. Pressing his muzzle against Rabbittail's side, he promised in a raspy voice firm with resolve, "I swear that as long as I'm alive - whoever did this will pay - both for you, and for Otterkit and Silverflower."

Breezefire woke up, and heard screams of horror and Silverfeather's worried voice. "I'm coming!" she said, and she ran. As she neared the yowls, she smelled the scent of death, mixed with Rabbittail. "Did Rabbittail..." she asked, trailing off, hoping the worst hadn't come. "Silverfeather... what happened?" Breezefire had tears falling down her.

She murmured,"the killer has struck again." She couldn't bare to see her friend crying and it was making her tear up. She looked at the clan. "We can't let this keep happening," she spoke through the tears,"why one of our own could do this I do not know." She looked at her clanmates.

Shiverthorn returned Silverfeather's gaze, sorrow darkening it. "I don't know either", she murmured. Padding towards her fellow warrior, Shiverthorn turned to the Clan. I know I have no right to speak to my Clan like a leader or deputy would", she mewed, "However, I'd like to say that no matter what happens, I will still work with you all to the best of my ability. We all know there is a killer in our midst, but that doesn't mean the whole Clan should turn tails on one another. There's only one murderer in here, right? Not a whole Clan full of them. I'm going to keep trusting you all. RiverClan stands together no matter the challenge, right?"
The young warrior's words lacked much conviction, as if she was struggling to believe it herself. Dipping her head to her Clanmates, Shiverthorn backed away.

[While I must have been imagining what I saw, and therefore honestly lack proof to my case for Emberheart, I'm going to keep my vote on her. You guys can switch back to Dampaw if you'd like. I'm afraid I misread a few things and got clues where there weren't any.]

Dampaw couldn't move, couldn't breathe. His clanmates,
the cats he'd grown up with, loved and been taught by,
were condemning him. They said he'd killed the poor
cats, whose graves were surrounded by an air of fear,
that the cat visiting would be next. But no. Marigoldpaw
stuck by his side, stubbornly glaring at any cat who
dared vote against his friend. However, it all seemed
for naught, as Dampaw was sent away with harsh
threats and nervous meows.

'Dampaw!' Marigoldpaw's voice rang out behind his
friend. 'I'll come with you.'
'You can't do that.' Dampaw responded, voice thick.
'You need to finish your warrior training, and grow
up, and get your warrior name, and have a life.'
His inane ramblings were cut off by a tail to the
muzzle. 'Dampaw! I am coming with you. Okay?'
In silent resignation, the apprentice nodded, a
small smile coming to his face.

The two former-apprentices walked away, the sun
casting the sky with a red hue as it set and the
moon rose.
Two apprentices have been cast away and the
Clan's numbers are dwindling.
