She looked to the male warrior "If you want to join us, then all free to" she said with a smile "yes I was thinking a hunting patrol" she told them, looking around for once more "anyone else wants to join a hunting patrol?" she called out with a loud voice.

She sighed not really knowing what she was supposed to do now "I guess you're welcome to stay, when you're still so young, maybe we could make you temporary den to the nursery when Velvetstar says what to do with you," she told the pup with sight. Her eyes turned to her adoptive other then back to the pup "let's go get some moss to your nest" she told him.

Thornheart chuckled, licking her muzzle. "Crowspots, I do nothing but sleep," she laughed, her tail gently thumping the ground. "However you may spend your afternoon, it is always much more exciting than mine," she said, still smiling. "Dawn hunting, hmm?" she said thoughtfully, thinking of all of her own dawn patrols. Dawn and dusk were the best times to catch mice and rats. "Catch anything? Mice and other small prey typically come out during those times," she said with a sigh, still somewhat lost in her memories of the past. Thornheart didn't exactly wish to be young again; she just sometimes wanted to feel the same thrill of chasing down a mouse in pouring rain early morning, and just managing to nab it. But that's for the younger dogs, she mused. My job is to teach them now.

She sat in front of the medicine den, grinning a canine smile at anyone she saw, or whoever passed by. Her overbite made her grin seem quite strange. Maybe she should go gather herbs? She nodded a little to herself before heading towards the exit. Some extra moss would be nice too.

Snowstorm

Snowstorm ran to the medicine dog as she had gone towards the exit of camp. She could hardly believe Shadowpack’s deputy was dead. And this all happened just before Flowerpetal had talked about going hunting. “Jaggedfang. Flowerpetal has died.” She said, still a bit shocked. Her voice was low so only the medicine dog could hear.

"Well then, we should prepare the body for vigil and to be buried. May I ask what happened?" she said smoothly. Any predator would be an interesting addition.

“Well when I came back from hunting I noticed she smelled particularly odd especially around the ears. I’m no medicine dog but I’d say it was probably an infection.” Snowstorm replied. “I had gone to offer her a rabbit and that’s how I found her.” She added. Snowstorm had dropped the rabbit when she discovered the body of the deputy. So it was still there.

She stepped over to the body. There was an odd smell underneath all the death-scent. She sniffed the head area.
"I think it might have been near the brain. Not much I could do for that." she sighed, before lifting the body onto her back.
"Lets go back to camp then." she continued, "You can tell everyone."

“It’s sad she had to go in such a way. At least she’s no longer in pain.” Snowstorm said. She would be sure Flowerpetal had not died for nothing. She was a kind dog who hadn’t deserved to go so soon. Snowstorm wondered who Velvetstar would pick as the next deputy. “The pack is bound to be surprised at the news.” She added as she walked back to camp.

"Did she ever say anything about head pain? I haven't seen a brain injury in a while so I'm not sure if my speculations are correct." she asked. This would certainly surprise the pack. This probably wasn't caused by another dog. There would be marks at least. She growled quietly. If she hadn't chosen the way of medicine, would she have been the deputy?
