Gorsefur watched the sun set over the horizon. Her breath came out in ragged gasps. Gorsefur... she could hear the misty whisper of her mother, Iceleap, and she could see the tabby shapes of her dead son, Dustkit, and her father, Bearclaw. She watched the final rays vanish beneath the mountains and rested her head on her paws. Goodbye... she thought, unable to make a sound. She felt herself slip from herself, in a sense, and become light as a feather. She found herself climbing, running like she was a young warrior again. She ran and ran and ran until she could see the stars closer than ever. She closed her eyes and opened them again to find herself in the most divine place she had ever seen....
