"This won't work." Sparrowpelt exclaimed angerily, striking the dirt with his paw.

"What won't work?"

"Us, your from Thunderclan, I'm from Riverclan." Sparrowpelt explained, shaking his head sadly.

"Whoever said I wanted us to be "us?"

"I don't care, I'm just letting you know." Sparrowpelt growled, taking a deep breath to calm himself. He shook his head again, turning once more to pad away.

Dappledflight was shocked. She was trying to tell him but not tell him she loved him. Yet he had gone and hurt her. She wanted to wail until the choke in her throat was gone.

Sparrowpelt suddenly stopped, laying down in the ferns, his head on his paws, his back turned to Dappleflight. He knew he had hurt her, but he needed to do it, he needed to forget her, but he just couldn't.

Dappledflight sat and stared after him.

Sparrowpelt closed his green eyes trying to forget everything that he said. "I'm sorry if I hurt you." He murmured quietly.
