Moonstreak

A paw print was reflected in the pale moonlight, a trail leading to a black ghost that seemed to disappear as it walked in and out of the shadows of the great pines that loomed. A rustle of wings, a small chirp of a bird that couldn't sleep. The glint of blue eyes, reflecting the icebergs of the Arctics, the silent presence of the predator. Muscles tensing, tail twitching, claws extended and a mighty leap. The figure is outlined in the sky, a shooting star racing with the feline as he seemed to sprout wings and soar, his heart pounding. With a soft thud, Moonstreak's paw pads made contact with the cold earth, his prey trapped beneath. The small blue bird struggled and called out, making the cat flinch with its disruption of the quiet forest. Fangs gleamed, cold eyes gazed into tiny black beads, and a soft crack echoed. Moonstreak bent down and devoured his meal, licking his lips with the satisfaction of the hunt. His stomach protested at the minuscule meal, but the black ghost ignored it and treaded onwards, cold eyes gleaming in the cast of the moon's unfeeling light.

Silversong padded out of the warriors den, her silver pelt glittering in the warm sunlight. She sighed and sat down in the snow, shivering a bit as the clodness seeped into her fur.
