Murderers in Riverclan V.3 [welcome back!]

FireFeather woke up slowly in the morning, hoping that if he woke up early enough he’d be able to go on a dawn patrol. Morning patrol was nice- sun up made the rivers look as if they were blazing, and it was just soothing.
He looked around the clearing, and saw his leaders tailtip disappear into the nursery. He decided he would wait in the clearing for her for further instruction.

Onyxpaw rose, her short fur clumped to the side as she stretched, before gently combing it down. She raised her head before bounding out of the apprentice den, and sniffing the air, looking for her snowy white mentor.
She bounded towards the nursery and recoiled in shock upon seeing silverheart lying deathly still, she whimpered and slowly made her way over to jadestar, before whispering "i-is she dead?"

Breamkit mumbled something is his sleep as Jadestar nudged him awake, stretching his legs and then raising his voice. “Mommaa, why are you waking me up? Is earlyy!” He complained half-jokingly. Blinking open his eyes, he saw the familiar reddish-brown pelt of his mother’s sister, and a grin cracked his muzzle. Jadestar was one of his favorite cats in the whole wide world! Breamkit leaped to his paws, his tail raised. “Hi, Jadestar!”

But something was wrong. He could tell that Jadestar, who was usually so happy to visit her nephew, had a shroud over her heart. The kit took a step closer. “Jadestar..?”

His pupils slitted as his gaze centered on Silverheart’s still form, not in her nest and unmoving. Breamkit’s voice raised shrilly. “Momma?!”

His ears flattened at Onyxpaw’s remark. “No, momma! Wake up!” Breamkit nudged his mother, once, twice, three times in a futule attempt to disprove the apprentice’s words. “You have to wake up!” A sob shattered the kit’s chest and he collapsed on the den floor, burying his muzzle in Silverheart’s chest fur.

Jadestars expression goes blank as the river clan cats begun waking up. Silver heart was too young to die, especially with her kit who would no doubt want to show off to his mother and make her proud. She mumbles out a quick 'morning, and licks the kits head as he burrows into his mother. Looking up she turns to face Onyxpaw with a solemn nod. "Yes.." she look back to the queen once more before clearing her throat. "Onyxpaw, could you get me lavenderscent? She smells faintly of parsley, so she may have been around just before she.." The leader trailed off, lightly pawing the ground. She wondered if breamkit had done it, or onyxpaw. She wasn't sure, but all she knew is she didn't trust anybody right now. Pushing her distrust away, she curled her tail around the kit "Why dont you go get something to eat?" it was a dumb idea but she felt like he needed to be occupied, even if just for a few minutes. Peering out, she gestured to firefeather. "Do you mind going in the dawn patrol alone? There's some... Things that need ti be handled right now. You dont have to cover the whole territory, just make sure everything looks good." She turned away from the cats, slightly leaning on the nursery wall as she sighed.

Onyxpaw, who was still trembling slightly, nodded stiffly before bounding over to where lavenderscent usually was, and she shook them awake, panic edging her mew as he cried out "lavenderscent! lavenderscent, jadestar needs you, its urgent!" she jumped from paw to paw as she waited for them to get up.

FireFeather nodded when his leader asked him to go out alone. He had heard the screeches- how could he not have? He knew there was something wrong, but he dedcided it probably was best not to press into it. He felt that sometimes, the best thing for the Clan, was to just not ask questions.
“I will wait out here for report when I’m back. I don’t wish to disturb you with the matters of the Clan.” FireFeathers words were level, even though there was something about the air that made him want to bolt.
As he pushed out of the camp, he could feel himself being very on-edge. But he was very happy to be able to be out in the forest, almost sounding like everything was okay. Was the Clan really so small under SilverPelt that whatever had his leader so shaken up didn’t hardly matter?
Fire watched a cloud shield the moon as it threatened to finally dip under the horizon. He nodded with a sigh, letting himself walk slowly. There was a problem and it was more than just a fox or badger. It may not be a full moon, but he felt like today the same rules should apply. All he could do was hope that the Clan was safe.

Lavenderscent was comfortably sleeping in her nest. She was shaken awake and saw her apprentice, Onyxpaw. "Well isn't this something new. You are waking me for a change."She teased before Onyxpaw could explain why she was waking her. Seeing the urgency on her apprentice's face and tone of voice Lavenderscent nodded. "Okay Onyxpaw, do you know where Jadestar is? Could you take me to her?"She asked.

Breezefire woke up. The shouts from Breamkit had startled her. She rushed to the den, her paws pounding to the den. "Jadestar! What is go-" she then saw the queen. Silverheart wasn't breathing. Breezefire rushed to her side and checked her pulse. Nothing. Not a single beat. The queen was dead. Her body was in a writhing position, Breezefire suspected she ate something that wasn't meant to be eaten. Deathberries or Foxglove seeds. Most likely water hemlock. It caused writhing in pain and was often confused with parsley.
Breezefire wasn't sure if she should tell Breamkit, or if it would cause him too much sadness and depression, or if Jadestar needed to be reminded of her sibling's death. Breezefire awkwardly stood in the nursery, waiting for something to happen.

Breamkit continued sobbing into his mother's pelt, shuffling away from anycat who tried to comfort him. He just wanted her back, her soothing purr and gentle voice. She would know what to say to calm him. She would know.
