Nightstripe looks at her and smiles. He hadn't realised how hungry he was. "Yes." He laughs, dipping away in the direction of the fresh-kill pile and arriving back a second later with a squirrel in his jaws. Nightstripe looks around. Wolfstar disappeared in a hurry.
He thought, sitting opposite Willowstep. He takes a bite out of his prey, relieved to finally be eating.

Willowstep smiled, tilting her head to the side before biting into her rabbit once more. She looked up and took a deep breath, breathing in the riches of green leaf. 'I love it this time of Greenleaf! The forest seems to come alive! I hope I'm put on a hunting patrol tomorrow. I haven't sunk my claws into prey this good in moons!'

"Yes." Nightstripe purrs. "I'll put you on a patrol tomorrow." Their territory was unusually plentiful of prey now, he would have to be a mouse-brain if he didn't plan on sending out extra hunting patrols. But, he did worry about the pine trees. With all this pleasure comes risks--and the intense heat could trigger a forest fire. That was bad news for all living things. Nightstripe finishes his meal, licking the last traces from his whiskers. Silverpelt shone brightly overhead.

"Thanks! Don't stress if you're worried about forest fires. I have the best nose in the clan! I could smell a burning leaf one hundred fox lengths away! At most..." She sounded as if she could read Nightstripe's mind. She shuffled her paws uneasily beneath her trying to conceal her jealousy of his role as deputy. "Do you... need any help tomorrow? I mean with your deputy duties? At all?" She flinched wishing she hadn't said that.

Nightstripe looks at Willowstep. "That's good." He sighs happily. Knowing another cat shared his concerns was comforting. Nightstripe nods. "I was hoping you could lead the hunting patrol?" He mews. "If I need help with anything, you're going to be the cat I'm after."
He adds kindly.

Instead of heading back to camp, shadowpaw found himself wandering around the twolegplace boarder. After a while, he headed back, where he caught another mouse. With the squirrel and mouse in his jaws, he sprinted back to camp

Willowstep purred gleefully. Nodding slightly, she smiled at Nightstripe, "just let me know if you need help with anything, even if it's not deputy duties, I'll always be willing to help you out." She padded dreamily off towards the warriors den and curled up in her nest in the corner of the den and drifted to sleep.

Sunfoot streched and went out into the center of the camp. She knew that she would need to find some more yarrow as she was low, "I need an aprentice" she grumbled, remebering her own appreticeship where she had to do all of the dirty chores and now she didn't even have a you cat she could tell to do it. Shaking her head she walked out of the camp.

She walked on until the scent hit her nose, she walked over and yanked some up, not much there used to be so many more herbs, now she had to go to the border just to find something.

"I will. Thank you, Willowstep." Nightstripe purrs. It was awfully nice of the she-cat. He sits in the clearing a while longer, gazing up at Silverpelt. The stars shone like dew on black fur, much like his own. He crouches, tucking his paws in and wrapping his tail around.
Nightstripe sighs. It was so peaceful.

Light shined joyfully into the warriors' den lighting up the den and making Willowstep's pelt shine. She jolted upright as she remembered the dawn patrol she was supposed to be leading that morning. She sprinted worryingly out of the den shaking pieces of moss off of her wild fur on the way out into the clearing. " Ahhh, Nightstripe. I was just about to get up, I promise!" She shrieked, her voice shuddering and her face going hot under her pale fur.
