Spiritstar let out a heavy sigh, turning. "What is it, Brackentail?" she asked warily.

'Why didn't you consult me before bringing a loner into the Clan?!' He demanded, neck fur bristling with anger and shock. 'I'm your DEPUTY for StarClan's sake!'

Spiritstar growled. "And I'm your leader, for Starclan's sake! Her eyes softened. "Listen, old friend, before you judge me so, I need you to understand stand something. All of my clanborn family? Dead. My brother? Missing. But this loner I found... he's my brother's son. If my brother is dead, he's the only one I have left. Do you understand how important it is to me to keep my one remaining family member safe where I can protect them?" Her tone and eyes glinted with desperation. She valued the opinion of her deputy, and she wanted him to understand.

'You still could have spoken to me. But instead... You just bring him in and expect us to accept him?' His voice cracked, heavy with anger and upset. 'I thought the Clan meant more to you. He may be related to you but he's still a loner.' He seemed to want to say more, but instead turned and bounded away, ignoring his aching paw.

"W-wait! Brackentail, come back..." She understood his anger. She knew she'd made a huge mistake, but... The way Cinna had looked at her, eyes full of awe and excitement...

Brackentail ignored her, and continued bounding away until he reached a river. Leaping over, he sat under a bush

Cinna smiled widely as he was introduced to the clan, joy rushing through him as he looked up at the leader. His elation faded though, as one by one, cats turned to look at him, a few quite unfriendly. His tail lowered from it's position in the air and his ears went back a little in discomfort as the leader left for her den, a rather angry tom brushing past him to follow her. He gulped as a massive white tom pushed by him, expression one of displeasure. Not far behind was an angry-looking she-cat, who briskly returned to the hole where the kit-scent was coming from. He felt a bit more comfortable when a pretty she-cat with a tortoiseshell face walked past him with an apologetic and hopeful expression, murmuring words of welcome before following the angry tom out of the camp.

Emberstrike padded out to listen to her leader's words, and raised her eyebrows in slight surprise as she was given an apprentice. She stepped forward rather robotically to touch noses with her new responsibility, eyes rather wider than usual. She hadn't thought she would ever be given one- she wasn't particularly fond of energetic, cheery cats, and it seemed to her that every apprentice to ever exist was just that. However, she would be glad to have a chance to contribute to the clan, and the leader's words implied that Owlpaw was ambitious. If that was true, and the young tom was motivated to learn, then she doubted they would have much of an issue. She looked over the new cat- Cinna- for a moment, narrowing her eyes slightly in concentration. Appearing satisfied with whatever she had been investigating, she gave a slight nod and turned back to Stormgaze. "Congratulations on the apprentice." she said with a subtle smirk. "I'm sure you'll be a total pushover."

Gingerpaw grinned eagerly and padded after her friend, scooting a bit closer to him as Blizzardstrike sat beside her. It was a little-known fact that the massive white tom was one of the few beings that could scare her. She glanced at Mintpaw with comically wide eyes, before the words from her leader distracted her from her fear. Her grin returned full-force, and she nudged him with barely contained excitement as they received their mentors. She padded up to touch noses with Oakfrost, dipping her head politely. As she turned back to the crowd though, she shot the she-cat a friendly- albeit challenging- smile, a glow of amusement in her eyes. She was going to give the she-cat a hard time, there was no doubt, even if most of it was unintentional. As the clan began to disperse, she raised her eyebrows, seeing Brackentail slip into the leader's den after Spiritstar. She got to her paws with casual ease and looked around for a moment, as if deciding where to go. "I'm going to make dirt." she said to Mintpaw, a meaningful glint in her eyes, before slipping out of the crowd to crouch by the entrance to the leader's den in the shadows, out of sight from her clan in the tall reeds.

Gingerpaw's eyes widened from her hiding place and then narrowed thoughtfully. They must be talking about Cinna... She let out a gasp before clamping her jaws shut as Brackentail came bounding from the den, yanking her head out of his sight and praying he hadn't seen. He seemed too distracted in his own thoughts though, and fled the scene in seconds. She backed away quietly from the leader's den, before turning and racing back down to Mintpaw, her eyes wide with excitement. "We got dirt!" she announced with triumph in a hushed voice.

Snowlily smiled gently as she touched noses with her apprentice, the petite she-cat nearly the same size as the cat she was mentoring. She padded back to the crowd and sat herself gracefully- it seemed she did everything with grace- and tucked her tail over her paws neatly as she sat again beside her brother. She raised her eyebrows in surprise as she noticed the presence of the flame-colored tom, and felt a flash of pity for him as many of the clan turned to look at him in annoyance. He was just barely older than a kit- surely he posed no danger to them. She sighed as her brother gave the tom an unnecessary push as he headed past, while her friend went straight to the nursery with a steely glint in her eyes. What bothered her most though, was seeing the deputy storm out of the camp soon after, looking for all the world like he was running away. She sighed and decided to go after him first, knowing the clan's leaders must be united in this decision in order for the clan to follow. Besides- she didn't like seeing her friend in such distress. "I'm sorry for some of their behaviors." she murmured to the tom before leaving, adopting the usual caring tone with it's maternal quality that she used on young cats. "Change does not come easy to some. Welcome to the clan." she gave him a small smile before running after Brackentail, intent on finding his scent. She followed him on light paws, barely making a sound as she raced through the woods. The she-cat had ShadowClan blood, but one would never guess until they heard- or rather, didn't hear- her quiet pawsteps. She slowed to a lope as she neared his form, a hunched silhouette beneath a bush, and finally came to a stop beside him. She was silent for a moment, watching him with an ice-colored gaze, before a small smile appeared on her face. "Hey Whacky-bracky." she teased lightly, using the nickname she had come up with in their apprenticeship.

'What is it, Snowlily?' Brackentail asked sharply, not moving as he stared straight ahead. His tail was barely staying still, twitching by his side. He dipped his head briefly to sort out the cobwebs on his paw, then he retained his original position.

Nettlepool entered, nodding quickly at Applefrost before gently picking up the kit. 'I need to watch over her in the medicine den for a bit.' he said as the queen began protesting. Nettlepool went back to his den, still holding the fast asleep kit.

Bramblefur hesitantly padded over to Cinna. 'Hey. I'm Bramblefur.' He said, sitting down and curling his tail around his paws, watching the younger cat expectantly. Spiritstar must have seen something in him to take this loner in.
