his eyes's nearly popped out of his head. this had to be a joke, right? it was like a straight blow to the face, no sugar coating or anything, just- "tallkit is dead." seeing as how no one was laughing and looked dead serious, he could only assume the worst. littlepaw nodded. "of course, lilypool." his voice wavered with fear. "everyone, please give briarthorn space!" he yelled to the frantic crowd outside the nursery. he frowned as he stared down at the little body soaked with blood and sweat. as gently as possible, he used his paws to rub the lavendar and watermint on the kit.

Honeystorm turned to see Shortclaw. "She's dead," the molly croaked, shaking slightly. "Tallkit's dead." How could anyone do this to a kit? What if they went after Cloudpaw and Mousepaw next? How could Lilypool be so calm? "I'll go find Cloudpaw and Mousepaw," she murmured, pushing her way out of the nursery. She padded over to the apprentices' den and saw Mousepaw try to wake Potoopaw.

"Mousepaw!" said Honeystorm, in a voice slightly louder than her usual tone. Maybe she could take her kits out hunting. Spend a little time with them. Try to forget about Tallkit...but how could she? How could she forget?

Cloudpaw had slept in late, again, and sleepily opened his eyes to blinding light. Once his icy eyes were used to the pure light, he stood up, jaws parting in a loud yawn.
He padded out of the apprentice den, seeing a gathering of cats at the nursery. Had someone kitted?
"What's happening-" he was able to see through a crack in between two cats, seeing the lifeless form of Tallkit.

Briarthorn moved out of the way as Littlepaw came in with the herbs. As much as she wanted to cling onto her daughters lifeless body and scream on top of her lungs at everyone around her she knew it wouldn't do Tallkit any good. "Be gentle," She lightly scolded the apprentice cringing when a piece of herb fell into her daughters wide green eyes.

Flinching at Honeystorms sudden tone Mousepaw layed her ears back in slight embarrassment.
"What?" She hissed out quietly.

"Do you want to go hunting?" Honeystorm asked. "Spend a little time together?" While she couldn't keep Mousepaw from knowing the truth about Tallkit, she didn't want to dump it on her. Especially after the deaths of so many from the sickness.

littlepaw flinched at briarthorn's tone. "i'm trying," he mumbled quietly, shaking ever so slightly at the pressure weighed on him now that lilypool was gone. his paws were working quickly but he couldn't help but feel nervous. his heart was aching.

[the sound]

shortclaw watched as honeystorm fled the nursery, looking for their own kits. fear stroke his heart as he thought about whoever this killer was. had they stooped so low to killing kits? he turned when he heard the voice of cloudpaw, worried that the tom had seen tallkit. he ushered the apprentice away. "tallkit has died," he explained to his son, the vision of briarthorn's poor kit flashing in his mind. he couldn't stop picturing his own family in the same situation.

Sensing something was off Mousepaw went ahead and nodded, if something had happened Honeystorm would tell her with time. Getting up she shook a few peices of nest from her fur "where are we gonna hunt?"

Honeystorm smiled and cocked her head. "How about near the river?" This would give them time to talk. Maybe she could, well break the news.
