River sighed, but quickly quieted as he heard the faint sound of a leaf cracking under the weight of an animal's paw. He snapped his head towards the sound, and quickly scampered towards it, careful not to make the same mistake the animal did. He began to crush, stalking slowly, his hindquarters in the air, belly just touching the ground. What are you? He thought curiously. After scanning his surroundings he spotted a tuft of brown fur, attached to a small body, with longs ears that stood on its head, and a nose that twitched, making it's thin whiskers move. A rabbit. He hadn't seen one of these in a one time, and he felt a pang of excitement within him. However, he had never been good at catching these swift animals, almost always missing them. He twitched his ears, placing one paw gently in front of the other, step, step, step, step. When he was finally close enough, he pounced, launching himself into the air, his front paw out below him, his hinds gliding behind. He landed on it, and it let out a squeak of surprise, which was shortened quickly. The rabbit became limp in River's larger jaws, and his tail flicked in the air behind him. He saw red on his paws, but ignored it, too happy that he had caught the rabbit. He dashed joyfully to the right of him, before he heard water trickling quietly in a swift stream. He headed towards the soothing sound, and as he arrived, set the rabbit down near the leafy edge. He began to eat, nommning happily away, occasionally lifting his head up, perking his ears to listen for their sounds, then returning. When he had eaten half of the rabbit, he had grown full, and proceeded to bury the rest, in case of emergency, or just for a snack. He then waded into the stream, the cool water running over his paws, causing the red to flow downstream, his paws trudging back to their originally color, only a hint of pink. He bent his head down, cleaning his muzzle and catching some of the water in his mouth. It satisfied him enough, and he soon was done cleaning, padding out of the stream and back to where he had come. He realized he hadn't slept much, always sneaking to the mysterious camp, and realized how sleepy he was. He found a tree, and dug his claws into the trunk, sliding down the first few tries. He quickly managed to pull himself up, and found a twisty intersection of branches just waiting to be slept on. The canopy of leaves provided reasonable cover, and he lay down softly. The rough bark scratched his belly, but he didn't mind. River slowly licked his paws, before finally he could barely use keep his eyes open. His eyelids dropped, and his vision became dark and quiet, and he faded into a peaceful sleep.

Lightpaw looked worriedly up to his mentor, his ears twitching. "I really don't think you should train me, you need some rest, and I'm no med but even I think you should." Lightpaw's voice was swift and gentle, but worry coated his words like syrup.
