Nebelung wrote:Rabbitfur noted the deputy slow his pace to walk beside him, instead of ahead of him. An ear swiveled back as he thought about this, and he decided not to fall behind him anymore. At least for this patrol. He supressed a shiver as a small breeze reminded him of his damp coat, having completely forgotten about it while walking with him. At his proposal, Rabbitfur blinked up at him. More than one mate? He couldn't very well imagine himself handling more than one mate at a time, especially with how unlikely it would be that he'd even take one. To his knowledge, no one fit the description of his ideal mate within the Clan. ... At least, no mollies. So how could he possibly take on more?
"Ah ... I don't know about that." Another forced nervous chuckle was to help buy him more time to think. "I don't think I could devote enough attention to multiple partners, all at once if I can hardly see myself devoting time to a mol-- mate," he corrected quickly, side-glancing at the deputy. As he began to share his concept of an ideal mate, he felt a twinge of ... well, something, to hear he too was interested in someone so loyal. He felt his ears redden with embarrassment at the hot-headed part and he hung his head lower. Sometimes being hot-headed was the only way to ensure the Clan followed traditions. The code had been created for a reason, and he felt that reason was to ensure the Clan didn't fall to ruins. If one step was taken outside the law, you were taking a grand risk in endangering the Clan. He couldn't understand how so many failed to see that.
But he listened on, nodding gently, sometimes grunting in agreement. Any compliment directed at his hard work would be nice. He was always trying to get the approval of those ranking higher than himself that he failed to realize you could get it from a mate. He glanced at Wildflight, seeing his ears red and he tilted his head slightly. What was there to be embarrassed about? The tom had a point. "Everyone, in some way, seeks encouragement and praise." That wasn't anything to get flustered over.
He nodded along to the kits. They were a necessity to keeping the Clan alive. But seeing as how easily cats fell head over tail after one another, he firmly believed the Clan would be covered in that area. So, kits were not required. And leaving together was most ideal. ... But unrealistic.
Seeing him nod, Rabbitfur felt the tension of conversation begin to lift. But it returned quickly as Wildflight continued. And this, he couldn't agree more with. He drew in a quiet breath.
"Likewise." Feeling his answer wasn't satisfying enough for Wildflight, he went on. "I may not ... be the most talkative of cats. And ... maybe I am a tad strict. But, really, approval is all I'm after. After a day of decent hunting, a simple, 'nice catch' or any form of gratitude would be nice. 'Good job', or even an, 'I enjoyed your presence, let's do it again sometime', that's all I want." His coat began to prickle. But it seemed ... regardless of the effort he put in, cats were eager to get rid of him. He wasn't interesting enough for them, and first chance they get, they move on to someone more intruging. He exhaled, stopping when they reached the border. "Perhaps i'm being greedy. I'm only doing what I'm supposed to anyway. I have StarClan's approval. That should be enough." ... But why wasn't it?

"Like what..?" He said, sitting down in front of the young cat.
"Never mind... I'm just basically ignored by everyone except for 3 cats." Gingerpaw started turning around.

Foxpelt's ears perked. "Yes?" He padded over to Stripestar and noticed that he smelled strongly like Thrushleap.
