The young kit said " Really?!" then he nodded, padding off clumsily to his mother, then said " Mommy, why were you attacking that other cat? And why is my sister sleeping all funny?"

She followed after the nameless kit, listening to his questions carefully. She sighed gently and gave the kit a light nudge."Hey, mommy´s been working today very hard. It´s best not to bother her with questions anymore." She meowed softly to the kit before padding off to begin PebbleSteps burial.

"Come on, my young one." She gave her kit a gentle nudge and padded to the nursery, making sure the kit was able to keep up.

The kit said " One more! What's my name?" He padded back into the nursery on his little paws, then sat down on the soft, warm moss in the nursery.

She went and placed herself down beside the kit. When the kit squeaked for a name, she turned to look at him. A brief silence filled the nursery before PatchedPelt answerd."Your name is, LeafKit - For your beautiful new-leaf green eyes, and for your light yellow leaf-fall fur." She meowed, a gentle smile appearing as she gave the kit a lick over the head.

She went and sat down by the rest of the cats who were gatherd around PebbleStep. She stood high, standing between the cats as she began her speech."Today, we gather here, to send one of our fellow warriors away to StarClan." She meowed, voice raised.

Leafkit said " I like my name." He heard the leaders words, then said " What's StarClan?" He looked at all of those cats, then saw another cat, on the floor, and something red on him. He was sleeping funny, just like his sister.

Pikefang had been hunting all day. What could he say- he was proud. His apprentice, Pebblepaw, was had became a warrior just last sunrise. I'll leave him be- I"ll stay out of the way, and perhaps he'll have some spare time with that she-cat he was blushing around and chatting with. The thought made the older warrior smile. Finally, Pebblepaw- now Pebblestep- would have a life. A good life as a warrior. Collecting his three mice by the tails, the large cat began to pad back towards camp. Only then did he sense something was wrong. Ravenstar had just yowled. Although he couldn't make it out, the tone was grim. As he entered camp, all sense just flew from him. Wrapped up in herbs, dead, was Pebblestep.

The warrior couldn't fathom it. First, it was the plain shock. Then, the pain. Dropping the mice, tears hit him, and he could do nothing but gape on horror and agony at his young warrior. What had happened? How? When? A soft cry then escaped him, and the large male plopped on his rear. They were right. Losing one you cared about was the worst pain. "Pebblestep... no..."

Batpaw had been collecting. After the argument with Windtail and him nearly drowning, he'd decided to continue differently; keep up with his duties, but not be around as much. It was better for everyone- although his mentor had walked away and came back, the blind cat just knew things would never be the same. And still, Windtail seemed to like Sunpaw's company better. Maybe it was him being evil, but if she was really the destined medicine cat, then he didn't want to become insane trying to chase was Starclan deemed not his.

Collecting his large clumps of marigold, horsetail and chamomile, the lean ebony tom padded back home only to smell death, grieving, blood and hear strange mews. Quickly entering the medicine cat den and dropping his herbs, he padded back out and crouched down near the back of his clanmates, confused.

Sunpaw saw Batpaw enter camp, then padded over, grief in her eyes. She said " Pebblestep is... dead" A tear fell down he face, then she remembered this wouldn't be the last time that she saw the death of a cat. She would see many, many more. She thought These warriors... how can they live like this? Knowing that every fight, every breath, every scratch, could be their last one? She sighed, then said " I saw Ivyvine go out, and when she came back, she had blood on her paws. I think she killed the heartless cat who did this."

"How could this have happened?" Grainclaw whispered horrifically. She had padded out of the nursery when she heard Ravenstars words, and was shocked to see her young friend lying on the ground. She wrapped her tail around her stomach, thinking, I hope that whoever did this has been caught... I don't want my kits to be in trouble.

"He couldn´t even sit vigil, on his first day as warrior. But tonight, he will sit in StarClan, and be the warrior there." She meowed as she was crouched down by the body, her paws tucked under her belly. She closed her eyes, saddend at such an event. She opened them again, looking towards GrainClaw."GrainClaw, would you mind saying a few words about our beloved PebbleStep?" She questioned.

Hearing and recognizing the mews of grief, Snailpaw turned her attention away from Winterpelt. The fur along her body stood on end. Just moments ago, she spoke with the tom laying there, now dead. Arrowpaw would be devastated. She caught the scent of Batpaw and spotted the dark-pelted tom off away from the others. She parted her jaws to excuse herself, but paused as Sunpaw went over and explained what was happening. She flicked her tail and returned to her mentor, gaze cast downward.

Antlerclaw looked down at the prey they'd caught and drew in a breath.
"We should take these back to camp." He was starving. "Go retrieve your hare. I'll carry these." He bent down to take the voles, stomch rumbling.
