PINELEAF::

The beautiful tabby glanced out at the grasses. She thought about her friends back in the Twolegplace. Were they still alive? Were they wandering alone, thinking she'd abandoned them? She dropped her head onto her paws. Or were they dead? She continued her hunt silently and solemnly, not daring to speak. Quietly she pounced and killed and brought the prey back to camp before laying onto the ground, tired and with eyes wide and sad. She hated to be sentimental. She was timid and shy but never sentimental. She looked to the future, not to the past.
But did she? If her past self could have seen her now, she would probably crack a rare seen smile. She was like a ghost these days. Gaunt, pale thin. She wasn't really eating that much. If her Twoleg could see her he would have taken her to the vet. She felt nothing. Her coat was shaggy, although it'd once been shining. She wanted her past life. She wanted her past life. She wanted a friend, but who could she trust in this band of rogues. So many tensions arising she didn't know which side she wanted to be on when the Clan split--which was inevitable, she figured. Some must have known it was coming.
Out of the corner of her eye she saw a ginger she-cat. Gingerpaw, was it? She padded over and smiled at the young she-cat. "Hi, Gingerpaw," she mewed, trying to remember her past self and also trying to maintain a more friendly version of herself. "I'm Pineclaw.

and forest-green eyes.
Eaglestar nodded at the kit's answer. "We do. That's because we don't just eat what we catch. We share it." She paused for a moment, collecting her thoughts. Then she continued. "We care for the weaker members of our clan, those who wouldn't be able to hunt for themselves. Our elders, queens, kits always eat first." she smiled. "To me, that's really what it means to be part of a clan. You care for the others. And they will do the same for you. And our ancestors watch over us all from the stars." She watched Ferret, trying to gauge her reaction.

The deliud tortishell studied him for heartbeats more before rushing forward, burying her face in his shoulder fur. "Where have you been Arcade?" she sobbed quietly, taking comfort and shelter in him. She'd missed him, much more than she could comprehend.
