Bluekit snuggled closer, happy with Shadowclaw's response. A mild purr started to rumble through all of the kits.

Shadowclaw smiled curling up tighter around the kits as he listened to their purring. He closed his eyes slowly letting the kits purring put him to sleep.

nighttail was dreaming. she was dreaming that mudsplash had returned. he stepped up to her and touched his nose to hers. she stepped in, rubbing her head under his chin but just as she did so he stepped back and dissapeared. she woke up. "just...a dream..." she whimpered. she stood up and walked out of the den and looked around. her white fur looked dull and her young bright eyes seemed tired and sad. her black tail twitched back and forth. she suddenly picked up a scent... her ears pricked up and she tilted her head. "mudsplash?" she breathed exitedly. she looked around and saw him at the edge of the camp. "Oh, Mudsplash!!" she yelled running to him, tears in her eyes.

Mudsplas chuckled,"I haven't seen any clan cat since I was gone."His whiskers twitched slightly as heheard his name.After a moment he regonized her voice,Nighttail's.Leaping up the tom skid over to his mate with green elated eyes full of joy."Nighttail!"Mudsplash meowed,stopping as soon as he was close.Without a hesitant move he rubbed his head against her cheek and smiled,touching noses with her.

"wha- where did you go!? what happened!? Youve been gone so long!" she exclaimed embracing him. She smiled "Spiderweb! come its your father!" she called to the den. she purred rubbing her head under his chin happily. " i must tell rosekit!" she thought purring."wait... she's... gone... oh how will i tell mudsplash?!" tears came to her eyes.

Spiderweb heard his mother. "father?" he said questioningly. he vaguely remembered his father, mudsplash was closer with rosekit. though every cat told him they look the same. he put down the stick and walked outside and saw him. his eyes widened. he looked exactly like him. "Mudsplash!" he said running to him. he smiled running up to him and burying his face in mudsplash's shoulder.

Mudsplash's forest eyes widened in surprise,seeing how much bigger his kit had grown to.He hadn't even seen the ceremony forhim and Rosekit.But then he remembered his daughter,he hadn't seen her yet either."Rosekit?"He asked quietly,not finding the strength to speak louder.Without waiting for an answer he buried his face into Spiderweb's .His only kit.

"she... she died saving fernleaf." she whispered sadly rubbing her head on his cheek.

spiderleg felt right... sitting there with his family. he finally found some words to say. "father, im the medicine cat now." he said prouldy.

Mudsplash pulled his head away,tryingto forget the past and focuse on the present."That's amazing!Mudslash replied joyfully,proud that he grew to a much respected cat."I had a feeling you would become medicine cat.Took Nighttail's skills and my looks."He chuckled,eyes sparkling Mischievously.

spiderweb smiled happily and then remembered dapplelight. "lillystar is leader now... i have dapple in my den... i probably should get back to her..." he said sad to leave. "you can join me if youd like?" he said
