Willowpaw nodded as she put the last herbs away and then started getting poppy seeds and Cobwebs out before the rest, since she new them good. She got the Chervil out second for wounds that might be infected. She also got some comfrey out just incase. She grabbed a leaf and bundled them up carefully and went out to Silverwing. She dropped the leaf and it unrolled. "Here Silverwing" She said to her mentor.

Stormpaw stood there, "I think the scratch on my leg got infected last night." She said. Silverwing nodded, "okay Willowpaw, how do you check if its infected or not?" The medicine cat asked the apprentice.

Willowpaw sat and thought for a moment. "Put poultice on it?" She asked

"No, first you check the area for inflammation, and temperature, with your nose you can tell if its too warm, and sight if its swollen, mucus filled, or anything" she said. "Why don't you do that and I'll get the herbs ready to put on"

(She does have a minor infection, swollen, slightly weepy and tender, a little warm)

Willowpaw looked around for any inflammation and Swelling. She thought she saw a bit of a swell on her Leg." Silverwing! I think i found some swelling and a bit of an infection too!" She called to her mentor.

"Okay, now the Chervil will help the infection, how do I apply it?" She said nodding to Willowpaw to put the herbs onto Stormpaw.

Stormpaw purred, "you are going to be a fabulous medicine cat Willowpaw!" She meowed.

"You chew it up and then put it on the swell." She said hopeful she was right.
