Rattail, who had woken before dawn, came back with a plump squirl and a punny mouse, he set the down in the fresh kill pile.

Manestar padded out of camp and out into the forest. He sprinted to the old oak tree and raced up its rough trunk. He crouched on a high branch.

Mapleshadow pads past the oak tree Manestar's in and pauses, ears pricked. She looks up into the tree and sees Manestar. "Whatcha doing up there?" she calls.
